DATE AND LOCATIONThe ICHP/MSHP 2017 Spring Meet-ing will take place on Friday, March 31, and Saturday, April 1. Meetings and CPE sessions will be held in the Gateway Center, 1 Gateway Drive, Col-linsville, IL 62234. The Gateway Cen-ter is surrounded by popular historic sites and attractions, and just minutes from St. Louis, MO, and offers all the culture and excitement of a metropol-itan city with a sense of Midwestern hospitality. Visit www.gatewaycenter.com for transportation needs.

CITY ATTRACTIONSThere is plenty to do while attend-ing the ICHP/MSHP Spring Meeting. Not only is the Gateway conference center just 10 minutes from St. Louis city excitement, it’s minutes from hundreds of southern Illinois attrac-tions too. Collinsville is also home to the largest catsup bottle in America. Dubbed as “roadside architecture as its best,” the now-empty steel water tank was constructed in 1949 and restored in 1995. History buffs may want to visit Cahokia Mounds State Historic Site, the largest archaeologi-cal site in America and home of Monks Mound, the largest prehistoric earthen construction in the New World. The 100-ft-tall, four-tiered platform of Monks Mound was built in stages over a period of 300 years. Its base covers more than 14 acres and contains about 22 million cubic feet of earth. At one time, the Indians’ principle ruler lived, conducted ceremonies and governed the city below from atop the massive mound. Many one-of-a kind jewelry items, as well as educational books, tapes, games, souvenir items and repli-cas of objects found during archeologi-cal digs, are featured in the gift shop.

Special convention room rates (Single/Double $109 for Thu/Fri) are available to attendees at the Double-tree Hotel in Collinsville/St. Louis (1000 East Port Plaza Drive, Collins-ville, IL 62234).
