A parking decal is issued for each student-driven motor vehicle entitled to be parked on campus. Students should submit a new Parking Permit Application for any vehicle changes/additions during the year. Day students may use their motor vehicles only when driving to school in the morning and when leaving school following their last commitment. If a student wishes to drive at any other time they must first obtain permission from a Dean and sign out. They must have parental permission on file. Day students are expected to drive in a manner that is appropriate and safe. Under ideal conditions and when there is little pedestrian or car traffic, students may drive at a maximum speed of 15 mph. Day students will be confronted if it is felt they are driving recklessly or without appropriate caution. Day students may return to their cars during the day to get books or school supplies, but they should not loiter in their vehicles or in the parking lot. Driving to athletic commitments (on or off campus) is not permitted without a Dean’s permission. When driving George School students (boarding as well as day), day students must personally ensure that all their passengers have parental and Dean's permission to ride before leaving campus or driving on campus. They should do this by accompanying their passengers to the Deans’ Office when asking for permission and signing out. Students who violate this rule should expect to have their case considered by the Discipline Committee. ® PLEASE READ AND SIGN BELOW: PERSONAL PROPERTY DAMAGE The insurance that George School carries does not cover losses on personal property. Damage to property that is caused by factors that are outside of anyone’s control are deemed “acts of God” by insurance companies, and are not covered even under tenant’s, homeowner’s, or automobile insurance policies. Because George School is a heavily wooded campus, and our parking lots tend to be situated in wooded areas, damages to cars from high winds and falling branches are the most common types of damage in this category. During particularly windy days, employees are encouraged to take the precaution of moving their cars away from wooded areas, and to park in areas such as in the parking lot next to the Fitness and Athletics Center. I have read the above statement related to personal property damage at George School.
