The Generic Threat Simulator (GTS) is a sophisticated simulation, test and evaluation tool designed for the Royal Australian Navy to validate the effectiveness of Naval Electronic Countermeasures against Anti-Ship Missile (ASM) attack.

Key features of the GTS include:• A full coherent tracking radar, which

tracks in range, azimuth and elevation• Operates in both I and J frequency

bands• Automatic or manual target

designation• Programmable pulse widths, pulse

repetition frequencies, tracking gate widths and search patterns

• Programmable pulse repetition frequency jitter, stagger and frequency agility

• Displays a live video window of target area

• Real-time relay of countermeasure performance

• Full system recording for rapid post mission de-brief

The GTS tests the entire system, including

the receiver and the effectiveness of the countermeasure employed. Because the GTS emulates all radar parameters of the threat system, it is equally effective for the Test and Evaluation of onboard and offboard countermeasures.

During a GTS run, the operator is presented with several display windows showing the live video feed of the target ship, system status information, and a series of custom tracking performance indicators. These indicators highlight whether the radar subsystem is tracking the target ship or the ship’s on or off board countermeasure.

When threats change, the GTS allows EW enhancementsandmodificationstobetested against a reliable benchmark.

subsystem housed in a pod. The GTS pod canalsobefittedtoanysimilaraircraftwith standard NATO 14” suspension lugs.

Inside the aircraft, a console subsystem provides real-time system control and monitoring. This enables the operator to configuredifferentASMseekerparameterssuch as RF frequency, pulse width, pulse repetition frequency, gate size, detection criteria and more advanced Electronic Protection features.
