But before that,what is your

favorite website?

So what is a PLWS?Is is the same as a blog?

a museum of sorts.

Now for some samples :)

• An organized sitemap

• Has accompanying images, music, photos, videos = THERE TO ENHANCE CONTENT

• Reader-friendly layout

• Has working links

• Everything is there for a valid reason

What a GOOD PLWS has

• 1. Writing - Are the articles and other texts in the website substantial and interesting (Content/Ideas)?  Have they been powerfully written (Sentence Fluency, Conventions, Organization, Voice, Clarity/Word Choice)?  Note that these are the 6 Traits in Powerful Writing that we have been discussing in class.

• 2. Images - What is the quality of your graphics, videos, photos, and/or music? Is your choice of graphics, videos, photos, and/or music appropriate and effective (Do they enhance content and help you achieve the purpose of your web site?)

• 3. Fair Use Guidelines - How correctly have you cited the sources for your images and texts?

• 4. Features - How well does the content of the web site communicate to us your intellectual persona--i.e., your image as a learner?

• 1.  Navigation - Is the structure (sitemap) easy to follow?  Are the contents logically arranged?

• 2.  Layout -  Is the overall arrangement of texts and images artistically pleasing?  Does it promote easy reading?  Are the words aligned/arranged properly?  Is the selection of font type and size appropriate to the message and the target audience?

• 3. Overall design - How creative and appealing is the overall web site design?  Is there consistency in the use of images, fonts, and styles in the overall web site design?  How well does the form of the web site promote its function?

• C. FUNCTION (20%)

• 1.  Efficiency and usability  - Do the pages load easily?  Are there links, and are the links properly connected?  Has the web site been de-bugged?

• 2.  Suitability - How suitable is the web site to its purpose and target audience?  How user-friendly is it?

• 3.  Interactivity - How effectively does the site encourage interaction, communication, or even collaboration between you and other viewers?
