Georgetown University, ESADE Business School and INCAE Business School have created a truly exceptional opportunity for a select group of highly accomplished professionals.

The Global Executive MBA (GEMBA) program combines the strengths of four world-class graduate schools: the expertise in international business of ES-ADE Business School, the recognized leadership in the field of international relations of Georgetown’s Walsh School of Foreign Service, the proven experience in global residencies and interdisciplinary teaching of Georgetown’s McDonough School of Business, and the sustainable business approach and latinamerican perspective of INCAE Business School.

The program is specifically designed to accom-modate the busy lifestyle of today’s professionals. Delivered in a modular format over 14 months, the Global Executive MBA program allows you to study global business in depth with dynamic professors from Georgetown, ESADE and INCAE. At the same time, you will work with peers from around the globe to apply the concepts presented

in the classroom to the world of corporate deci-sion-making.

The six 12-day modules take place in the business and government centers of Costa Rica, Panama, Spain, the United States, China, Qatar, and India. In every module you will be immersed in the com-plexities of global business, integrating coursework with real-world, real-time challenges presented by working business executives. You will benefit from customized leadership assessments and executive coaching sessions with experienced faculty and coaches. Throughout the program you will gain new skills in core business disciplines as well as new perspectives in management and leadership.

Once you have successfully completed the program, you will receive Master of Business Administration diplomas from Georgetown University, ESADE Business School and a Certificate in Global Business Management, from INCAE Business School, an extraordinary recognition for completing this unique MBA program.

The Global Executive MBA program has been designed from a clean slate. The core courses ensure that participants master the fundamental business disciplines and general management skills of a traditional MBA. All elements of the program have been customized and integrated to give participants the concepts and capabilities needed to succeed in the global economy. Core areas of focus include interpersonal dynamics, cross-cultural communication and negotiation, contextual awareness, managerial mobility, sensitivity to emerging business paradigms, technological and managerial innovation, decision-making in times of uncertainty, and values-based leadership.

The six residency modules have been carefully designed and sequenced so that each module establishes a strong foundation of business concepts, applications and tools for the course material, and experiences that follow. Participants begin with a comprehensive investigation of the global political economy, and then examine industries, firms, management systems, groups, and individuals in subsequent modules.

Throughout the program, participants are urged to integrate their coursework, projects, work expe-riences, and peers’ insights and to apply lessons learned to their organizations. Finally, participants are challenged to develop an understanding of their own capacity as influencer, change agent, and leader as they craft and define their personal leadership vision.

Political Economy of International BusinessThe live case studies in this course have included the pharmaceuticals industry, the trucking dispute between the U.S. and Mexico and U.S. Green Initiatives, and the spirits industry today and during the Prohibition Era. The distinctiveness of the Global Executive MBA program is reflected in the integrative courses. During each of the six modules, participants spend a portion of their time applying what they learn in the classroom to live business problems. The integrative courses link subjects and approaches from the current and previous modules to give participants powerful new tools to address in-ternational business challenges. Here are brief descriptions of the recent integrative courses.

Washington, D.C.

The current geopolitical business climate and its impact on business.

The live case studies in this course have includ-ed the pharmaceuticals industry, the trucking dispute between the U.S. and Mexico and U.S. Green Initiatives, and the spirits industry today and during the Prohibition Era. All cases raise important questions about the confluence of market and non-market strategies. The aim is to use the analytic tools covered in Module 1 to examine how businesses interact with govern-ments at home and abroad in shaping the playing field on which they compete. Participants work in teams to analyze the case study and present their findings.

Barcelona & Madrid

The fundamentals of corporate and competitive strategy in a specific industry, with an emphasis on cross-border mergers and acquisitions.

With $200 billion in sales every year, the candy industry is fragmented and ripe for consolidation.

The class forms teams representing six firms in this globalizing industry. Each team creates a strategy for that firm. The team negotiates to buy, sell, or create alliances with other firms. A panel of judg-es evaluates the quality of the deals. The course is guided by an ex-CEO of a well-known candy company and other industry experts.

Dealing with complexity and System Thinking.

Latin America is an immensely diverse region that provides a unique opportunity to discuss and learn the competencies required to manage the complex-ity of the global business challenges of the next 10 years, using system thinking as the main analytical tool. Focused on regional business opportunities based on thorough political, economical and social analysis, students will discuss the importance of sustainability as a key competitive advantage, the impact of digital technology for businesses in the developing world, new social trends, such as gender diversity and the role of business intelligence and operations, among other key elements for success.

Solving challenges facing Indian companies, as well as international companies operating in India, on a range of issues related to global competition.

The class works in teams on customized projects as consultants to Indian and international companies, developing solutions to problems the companies face and presenting them before the companies’ senior executives.
