This document can be used for printing from your Mac to the new TU-Delft “FollowMe” printers.(start Safari and go to www.mac.tudelft.nl for an electronical version if you read this from paper)

There are three possibilities to print to the new FollowMe-printers from a Mac:

1) Print via Webprint ! (this option works everywhere, as long as your Mac has some kind of network-connection)

a) Check if your NetID works, if you are sure your NetID works go to step b.-Start Safari and go to netid.tudelft.nl! ----------->-type your NetID and your Passwordif you can login, continue below, otherwise contact your servicepunt

b) Collect information-Start Safari and go to webprint.tudelft.nl

-Click on the arrow next to New Multifunctionals (2011) and select your building. Click ‘Go’

-You will be asked for your Name (NetID) and Password, fill it in in the following screen:

Note: if you check Remember this password, you will not be asked for your password next time.

-Next you will see a printer called FollowMe-”YourFaculty”, example: FollowMe-IO-Click on the name of the printer,-Click Properties, the screen below appears

-Select the Network Name of the printer, copy the name with ⌘ C

Notes: -Do not download the drivers here -You do not need to remember the printer model, all models use the same driver (C4501)

c) Download and install the Printer DriversDownload the Ricoh MP C4501 PS printer driver and the application WebprintInstaller from MAC OS X printer drivers, a diskimage opens and you will see two files:

-Install the printer-driver by double-clicking the PPD_Installer.pkg.If you have a standard TU-Delft Mac installed after 1-4-’11 the Ricoh C4501PD-driver is already present.

d) Install the printerA handy application for installing a printer has been developed, double-click WebprintInstaller 2.0,a login-screen appears:

<--Fill in the Password belonging to your (login) account.

Next the application-screen opens:

<--Leave the Printer model (Ricoh MP C4501)

Paste the name you copied in step b. in our example: https://srv655.tudelft.net/printers/FollowMe-IO/.printer (Note the printer will be added as FollowMe-IO-webprint) -Click OK

-Close the application.-if you want to install another printer, please restart Webprintinstaller 2.0.Note: all printer-options are installed by default

e) Print something to the printer The first time you print something, you have to fill in this screen:

Note: Name has been filled in automatically, erase this name and replace it with your netid (only netid, without extra’s)<-------------- Password: (netid) password

check Remember this password... (add printer to the keychain) Click OK

f) Problems:If the printer does not work; if you changed your password or if you filled in the wrong name/password-combination, please remove the printer from your Keychain and add it again:

-open Keychain Access (in /Applications/Utilities, Sleutelhangertoegang in Dutch)-look for the printer entry: -remove the printer entry-Restart at 1e)

2) Print when logged on to the network (via Active Directory)Note: this option only works when your Mac is connected to the TU-network via a cable and and you are logged on with your netid

a) Install the right printer-driver, see 1C) on page 1 how to install the driver. If you have a standard TU-Delft Mac installed after 1-4-’11 the Ricoh C4501PD-driver is already present.

b) Install the Printer- Go to System Preferences- Select Print & Fax- Click on the Plus-button, ! ! you will see the screen below:

-type follow in the search-window, a list of printers will be provided.

-select the printer you want to use (example FollowMe-IO).

<-----Click Print Using -Select Printer Software

-Type 4501 in the search Window! ! ! ! ! ! -Select Ricoh Aficio MP C4501 PS! ! ! ! ! ! (even if your printer is another model)! ! ! ! ! ! -Click OK

- Click Add, you will go back to the Print & Fax-screen

c) Select the options installed in the printer

-select Options &Supplies

- Click on the Driver-tab-Select the options as shown in the picture below

-Option Tray: ! ! Tray 3 (LCT)-Large Capacity Tray: ! Not Installed-Internal Tray 2: ! ! Not Installed-Internal! Shift Tray:! Not Installed-External Tray:! ! Not Installed-Finisher:! ! ! Finisher SR790

Click OK

3) Print via SMBNote: this option only works when your Mac is connected (wireless/cable) at TU Delft campus.

a) Install the right printer-driver, see 1c) on page 1 how to install the driver.If you have a standard TU-Delft Mac installed after 1-4-’11 the Ricoh C4501PD-driver is already present.

b) Collect information about the printer at webprint.tudelft.nl, see 1b) on page 1-Copy or remember the bold-part of the Network Name, example: From https://srv655.tudelft.net/printers/FollowMe-IO/.printer srv655.tudelft.net/FollowMe-IO

c) Install the Printer- Go to System Preferences- Select Print & Fax- Click on the Plus-button, you’ll see the Add Printer-Window- Click Advanced Note: if advanced is not visible, add it via Ctrl-Click in the menubar, select Customize Toolbar, drag Advanced to the menubar, Click Done

- Fill in the following screen:

Type:! WindowsDevice: ! Another Device

URL:! smb://srv655.tudelft.net/FollowMe-IO

Name: ! Follow Me IO SMB (or another convenient name)Location:!Leave blank (or your Faculty Building)<-----Click Print Using

-select Select Printer Software

! ! ! ! ! ! ! -Type 4501 in the search Window! ! ! ! ! ! ! -Select Ricoh Aficio MP C4501 PS! ! ! ! ! ! ! (even if it is another model)! ! ! ! ! ! ! -Click OK

-Select Add to add the Printer-Fill in the screen below

d) Print something to the printer The first time you print something, you have to fill in this screen: (it is possible that you need to open the print-queue first)

Activate campus card1. Press this button on the left-hand side of the control panel:

2. Hold your campus card in front of the card reader on the right-hand side of the machine:

3. The following screen appears: 4. Press Id and enter your NetID.

5. Press Password and enter your password. 6. Press OK. The machine will now log in and your campus card has been activated. Press Log out to close your session.

Completing a job1. Press this button on the left-hand side of the control panel:

2. Hold your campus card in front of the card reader on the right-hand side of the machine:

3. Make a sellection from the display:

Don’t forget to press on the Log out button after using the

multifunctional printer.
