Visiting Author!Author Tyler Enfield visited our second through fifth graders on Wednesday, February 9. His presentation drew from his awarwinning childrens novel, Wrush: The Secret Worlds of Tabetha Bright (for a ages 7-12). Wrush is the story of Tabetha Brightan eight-year-old girl in a wheelchair who uses creativity to overcome obstacles. With the help of a magic pen, Tabethaescapes the dreary walls of her hospital, writing her way into faraway worlds where adventure, friendship, and incrediblechallenge reveal the inner strength that lies hidden within her. The children enjoyed Mr. Enfields incredible storytelling anddiscussion. If your child would like to purchase a copy of Wrush, the Garden Gate Office will continue to take orders throughFriday, February 11. Checks for $10 may be made payable to Secret Worlds Productions, Ltd.

Valentines DayIf your child would like to exchange Valentines, please be sure she/he brings Valentines for everyonin the class. In addition, due to our district wellness policy and students with allergies, we stronglydiscourage students from including candy with the Valentines. Please make sure any food servedduring the party is nutritious. Also keep in mind that we are getting more andmore students with severe allergies to different types of foods. Thank you to

the Room Parents who have worked alongside the classroom teachers to plan a fun and safecelebration for our students.

Great Schools Week Feb. 14th -18th

This year CUSD is having additional budget cuts. In response, a group of parents have been working with CEEF (CupertinoEducational Endowment Foundation) to figure out how to preserve our high quality of educational programs throughcommunity-supported funding. The first outcome of this effort is Great Schools Week. This event will be held from Februar14 - February 18. Local businesses will donate a portion of their proceeds to CEEF. CEEF has committed all the funds that

are raised through Great Schools week to go to CUSD to help with the expected shortfall. We will distribute a flyer with morinformation and you can also visit the following link for more details:
