Brent joins the Calgary Flames after two seasons as the bench boss of the New Jersey Devils. Prior to that, Brent spent eight seasonsas owner, pres., GM, and head coach of the Red Deer Rebels (WHL).  Brent guided the Rebels to both a WHL and a Memorial CupChampionships in ‘01 and was named as the WHL’s top coach. He has represented Canada twice as head coach guiding the National Junior team to consecutive gold medals. As a player, Brent wonthe ‘84, ‘87 and ‘91 Canada Cup Championships. 

Brent played 18 years in the NHL with the NY Islanders and Chicago.  He recorded 829 points in 1,111 career regular-season games,

and 74 points in 144 career playoff games.   Brent was a member of New York Islanders ‘82 & '83 Stanley Cup Championship teams and served as captain from 1987-1991. Sutter was traded to Chicago on Oct. 25, 1991 and played seven more seasons before retiring on Apr. 18, 1998.  Brent won his coaching debut for the Flames on Oct. 1, and his 100th career win on Oct.6.
