Teachers appearance and body
language Adopting a professional appearance is very important.
First impressions count.
Your students will assess you from the moment they see
you.
If your appearance suggests that you are a professional,
sincere and serious, students will respect you for what
you are.
This also will be a first step in gaining their attention too.

Besides appearance, the teachers body languagespeaks volume about the teachers attitude towardsthe students.
For example, if a teacher enters the class with armsfolded and makes no eye contact with the students,
the signal sent to them is that, the teacher is notinterested to teach them.
If a teacher walks into class with a smile, it shows thatshe is happy to teach the class. The students will alsoreciprocate by smiling. Hence, remember to enter theclass with a smile.

Teachers attitude using
positive words Your choice of words and action will have to reflect that yourespect them and you are concerned about their learning.
Showing concern and being sympathetic of the students
needs is very important.
Your choice of words that you use on the students will have
serious implications, as the selection of the words will convey
the type of message you want the students to receive.

Teachers attitude setting an
example If you want your students to respect you, you will have
to set an example by showing respect to them first.
Do not always wait for your students to greet you first
and to scold them if they do not. Instead, set an
example by greeting them.
Some good practices which you can demonstrate are:
Greet your students
