  • About FYH

FYH was established in 1950 and is the oldest and largest manufacturer of mounted ball bearing units in Japan.

FYH is one of the few manufacturers who produces both bearings and housings under the same roof which allows for better quality control.

FYH has produced bearing units for Koyo since 1983.

FYH produced bearing inserts for Sealmasters Silver & Bronze lines from 1987 to 1990.

FYH specializes in a variety of customized products.

  • *We do more business globally than all of our domestic competitors including NSK, NTN, AMI and so on.We produce all of our own bearings and housings in all of our own factories to JIS and ISO specifications. We only use the highest quality materials and we stand behind the quality of our products. In addition to all of the finer points of our products, one notable feature of our units is the J housing fit specification by which we abide. We not only have general purpose product on the shelf for any given application, but we also offer a range of options for unique applications and operating conditions that can be made to order from our factory or from our facility in Chicago. This includes modifications to seals, lubricants, locking mechanisms, housing customization just to name a few. We have a full service machine shop in Chicago where we can perform all kinds of modifications from moving a grease fitting on a unit to machining a housing to spec.*We work with virtually every industry around the globe and these new products have a place in a variety of different markets and applications.*Our NU-LOC series is not exactly new to the industry, but we have managed to take a good idea and improve upon the design. It is available in any mounting configuration as well as ER style, high-temperature, free-spin, and chrome plated, and the current size range is from or 20mm up to 3 or 75mm. Compared to our standard set screw style bearings, this style incorporates a tighter bore tolerance, a tighter ball clearance, and an anti-rotation pin to prevent the outer ring from turning when used in competitor housings.*The NU-LOC series utilizes the same internal design structure as our standard UC set screw bearings with NBR land-riding contact seals and steel slingers on top of them to create a labyrinth seal system that works very well for a wide variety of applications. It is great for high-speed rotation, vibration reduction, reversing or indexing, and anywhere that greater shaft concentricity is required.*The NA300 series is a heavy duty eccentric locking collar style, and FYH is one of the few manufacturers who make the 300 series heavy duty ball bearing. We have had this 300 series duty range available in the set screw locking style from the beginning, but we have only recently added the eccentric locking collar style to our line-up. It is currently available in sizes from 1-3/16 to 2-15/16, and this duty style competes with and interchanges with Fafnirs GN and RAO styles, NTNs UEL3, and AMIs UG3 styles. *The NA300 series is widely used in the HVAC, agricultural, and heavy industries markets including applications in ship yards, cooling towers, and cotton gins.*FYH was one of the first manufacturers to introduce all stainless steel mounted bearings into the US several years ago. We continue to utilize the highest grade of 440C stainless material for all of these bearings, and we are one of the few who offer 316 stainless housings as a standard for the domestic market. We also offer nickel-plated cast iron housings, thermoplastic housings, as well as plated bearing inserts. All of our inserts within our corrosion resistant line are RoHS compliant, and all lubricants are USDA H1 approved for incidental food contact.*The newest addition to our corrosion resistant line is the plated insert which goes under the S7 suffix designation. It consists of a standard steel bearing with a plating of trivalent chromate on a galvanized steel substrate. It provides excellent resistance to a range of chemicals and moisture levels while utilizing the full strength of 52100 bearing steel and providing a significant cost savings over stainless. It can be used in any mounting configuration and in any stainless, plastic, or plated housing combination as well. This is the only style of bearing that we make which does not have a steel ball cage, but its nylon cage is advantageous in preventing internal corrosion.

EP-Fe/Zn5/CM2C *Within the Dust Resistant series, we offer stamped steel and cast iron covers for housings, triple-lip sealed bearings, and felt-sealed bearings.*Open and closed covers provide an effective method of sealing off the whole bearing within the housing rather than just the rolling elements within the bearing. They are available in cast iron and stamped steel.

Our standard bearing sealing system consists of a nitrile-rubber seal with a slinger in front of it to provide a good degree of contamination resistance for a variety of environments. In addition to this standard option, we also offer triple-lip seals with two levels of tightness or torque and felt sealed bearings. Our standard L3 triple-lip seals are great for a variety of applications where contamination is a problem, and the tight LT3 triple-lip seal is great for those really dirty applications that run low to moderate speeds. The felt sealed bearings perform as well or better than the LT3 tight triple-lip seals without all of the drag and resistance. They do particularly well in dry grain handling applications.

We are currently working on a few new seal designs which will help to retain lubricant better and prevent the seals from blowing out due to improper lubrication.*The Bullet Point set screw is an original FYH design that incorporates the features of a two-piece ball point set screw into a simple one-piece design.*As the Bullet Point is tightened against the shaft, resistive pressure from the shaft pushes back against the point of the screw and causes the threads of the screw to expand and mesh tightly against the threads of the inner-ring of the bearing. This action creates vertical and horizontal pressure and reduces the propensity of the screw to back out during operation. The rounded point of the screw also reduces the possibility of marring and mushrooming the shaft and thereby reduces damage compared with sharply pointed set screws. Our testing has shown that this design outperforms previous and competitor set screws by a great margin. This is our new standard and it is already available on many common sizes.*Our ceramic ball, Ceraball series, has been available for many years, but only recently have we expanded upon the offering. The Ceraball consists of standard 52100 steel or 440C stainless steel rings coupled with silicon nitride balls and a variety of options for seals, lubricants, locking styles, mounting configurations, and so on. One factor that separates us from others who offer ceramic bearings is the fact that we make our own ceramic balls, and we do so to extremely tight tolerances. We begin with raw material and process it by heat and pressure before it undergoes a thirty day grinding and polishing process. Though mounted bearings are not specifically rated under the ABEC or P class system, the ceramic balls that we produce are exacting enough to fall into the ABEC 9 tolerance range or even higher.*Among the selection of lubricants that we offer for this style is the solid carbon cage which acts as the lubricant and ball retainer for the bearing. Dry carbon is one of the best options for very high temperature applications, and it is commonly used in heat treating furnaces and baking ovens. This is also the only style in which we offer 6000 series radial bearings.***
