DAYS OF PREPARATION

Paul had formerly been known as a zealous defender of the Jewish religion and an untiring persecutor of the followers of Jesus.Courageous, independent, persevering, his talents and training would

have enabled him to serve in almost any capacity. He could reason with extraor-dinary clearness, and by his withering sarcasm could place an opponent in noenviable light. And now the Jews saw this young man of unusual promiseunited with those whom he formerly persecuted, and fearlessly preaching in thename of Jesus.

“A general slain in battle is lost to his army, but his death gives no additionalstrength to the enemy. The ministry of Future for Americais to proclaim the final warning message ofRevelation 14 as identified within the prophe-cies of the Bible and the Spirit of Prophecy. The end-time fulfillment of Bible prophecy isno longer future—for it is taking place beforeour eyes. The historic, prophetic understand-ing of Seventh-day Adventism is now presenttruth. We are the final generation. Our em-phasis on the prophetic word includes all thecounsel of God’s Word. To know what liesahead is useless if we do not possess theexperience to stand during these solemn times.Through obedience to God’s law, and faith inthe promises of God’s Word, we are to re-ceive that experience.

Coupled with the prophetic message,Future for America emphasizes all aspects ofthe medical missionary work. The “enteringwedge”—medical missionary work—must bepracticed by those who are to finish God’s workin these final hours.

During this time period, country livingbecomes more essential with each passingmoment. Future for America upholds andpromotes this end-time truth. God’s people mustprepare for the coming storm, and thatpreparation includes the experience of learninghow to survive in a simple fashion, away fromthe great centers of population.

A Consideration of Revelation 18

Dear Jeff:After a study with the some friends, there were

several questions raised about the new “Milleriteand the 144000 Chart”.On August 11, 1840 the Ottoman Empire fell

and the angel from Revelation ten came down. You have taught in the past that in 1989, theSoviet Union fell and the angel of Revelationeighteen came down. But in our new chart wesay, that the fourth angel came in 2001?Why is 1840 not parallel to 1989? We say in

our chart that 1840 is the parallel to 2001. Weteach that October 22, 1844 is the parallel tothe Sunday law. So is 1840 parallel to 1989, oris 1840 parallel to 2001? In the January seminar 2007, you divided the

4th angel in part A and part B.The parable of the ten virgins was fulfilled in

the Miller history from August 11, 1840 throughOctober 22, 1844 and the parable of the tenvirgins is fulfilled in our time from 1989 until theSunday law or 2001 until the Sunday law? Theseven thunders of Revelation 10:4 were fulfilledin the Miller history from August 11, 1840 throughOctober 22, 1844 and the seven thunders areis fulfilled in our time from 1989 until the Sundaylaw, or are they fulfilled from September 11,2001 until the Sunday law? Or do they continueuntil the second coming of Jesus? The Midnight Cry of August 12–17 until October

22, 1844 was proclaimed before the door closed;hence the loud cry has to be proclaimed beforethe door closes? The family I am studying with has been studying

your material for years, and they are a little bitconfused, for they have stated that theknowledge they have on these things comesfrom Pippenger. They want to correct everything, but they have to understand. Please provide aquick answer, because I am here only for somedays. Your WB—Germany

Brother WB: I see several questions, though some of them are interrelated.

The first question has to do with when theangel of Revelation eighteen descended. In thepast I have taught that the fourth angel ofRevelation eighteen descended in 1989. I wascorrect, but only partially. I know that because

I identified 1989 as the point where the angeldescended in the past, some will be confusedin regards to what I am teaching now, but thereisn’t really a contradiction, there is abroadening of understanding.

To teach the angel descend in 1989 infulfillment of Daniel 11:40 is to locate theangel’s descent within verse forty, for thehistory of the verse continues after 1989—all the way until the Sunday law in verse forty-one. Therefore to identify the descent of theangel in 1989 or in 2001 is marking hisdescent in verse forty. There is nocontradiction at that level.

The apparent contradiction has to do withthe two different events. I taught the angeldescended in 1989 at the collapse of theSoviet Union, but I am now teaching it tookplace on September 11, 2001. This appears onthe surface to be a contradiction, butprophetically it is not. September 11, 2001was the beginning of the third woe.

The characteristics of the third woe havebeen prefigured within the characteristics ofthe first and second woe. This can bedemonstrated in a number of ways. I will notdo that here, but it can be done. Thecharacteristics of the third woe have beenprefigured within the characteristics of thefirst and second woe. All the characteristicsof the first and second woe are prefiguringthe third and final woe. In Revelation 9:1–3there is a “key” that marks when Islam roseinto history. The pioneer understanding of thehistorical event that was that “key” thatallowed Islam to rise into history was the longdrawn our war between pagan Rome andPersia. (In Bible prophecy there are somepowers that are two-fold: Medo-Persia, Israel, the USA, and France. These four powers areprophetic types of each other.)

At the conclusion of the war Persia wasgone as a power, and Rome had depleted all

Page 4: Future NeWS - 2520 Year Prophecy2520yearprophecy.com/PDF/2008/2008_01.pdfFuture News January, 2008 3 A Consideration of Revelation 18 Dear Jeff: After a study with the some friends,

its power, and was thus unable to prevent therise of Islam into history. The pioneers pointto the battle of Nineveh as the event wherePersia was defeated and Islam rose intohistory. In the beginning of that war Persiadefeated Rome and put Rome into subjection, but Rome took a long trip into northern Europeand came in behind Persia, thus surprisingPersia and defeated Persia at the battle ofNineveh.

That history was the “key” that opened thebottomless pit in Revelation 9:1–3 and oncePersia was defeated and Rome was depletedof its strength—Islam rose into power. Thisis a parallel history to Daniel 11:40. InitiallyFrance (a type of Persia) defeats Rome bydelivering the deadly wound in 1798, but intime Rome returns and defeats (typical Persia)in 1989. When that defeat took place, the“key” had been turned that would allow Islamto rise into prophetic history once again.

Prophetically we cannot separate thecollapse of the Soviet Union in 1989 from thearrival of Islam in 2001. 1989 was the causeand 2001 was the effect. Therefore to identifythe angel descending in 2001 is correct, butto identify 1989 is still identifying the sameaction. 1989 and 2001 are two componentsof one prophetic fulfillment. They cannot beseparated. It is technically correct to identify2001, but an easier way to express it thateliminates any argument is to say the fourthangel descends within the history of verseforty, for both 1989 and 2001 are events thatwere fulfilled within the prophetic history ofverse forty.

The reason I marked 1989 in the past asthe point when the angel descends was becauseI did not recognize 2001 until after ithappened. My prophetic arguments foridentifying 1989 was two-fold.

The first is that prophecy identifies “thenumber four” in association with the collapse

of a kingdom. The Medes and the Persians areassociated with four kings in Daniel 11 tomark their conclusion as a kingdom. TheGreek’s conclusion is marked by fourgenerals. Western Rome concludes under thefour trumpets of Revelation eight. EasternRome concludes with the four angels ofRevelation 9:14, 15. The Ottoman Empireconcludes with the four great Europeanpowers—so I concluded that when the king ofthe south came down in 1989, we should thensee the number four, and I here applied thefourth angel of Revelation eighteen. This wascorrect, but only partially, for I did not seethe connected history of 1989 and 2001 at thattime.

Another reason I made the conclusion wasthat on August 11, 1840 we see the angel ofRevelation ten descend and he descendedwhen an empire from the bottomless pit wasdefeated. Islam of the Ottomans Empire camefrom the bottomless pit. So when I saw theatheism of the bottomless pit, the king of thesouth brought down in 1989, I concluded thatit was here that the angel of Revelationeighteen descended paralleling the angel ofRevelation ten, for I already understood thatthe Millerite history would be repeated. Therefore the descent o the angel ofRevelation ten had to parallel the descent ofthe angel of Revelation eighteen. What broughtthe angel of Revelation ten down was thedefeat of a power who had come from thebottomless pit—Islam. What brought the angelof Revelation eighteen down was the defeatof a power who had come from the bottomlesspit—Atheism.

I still stand by all that logic, but I did notsee Islam and 2001 until after it happened.Once it happened it all became clear, but therereally is no prophetic contradiction. Thefourth angel descends in verse forty. Whatmarks its descent is the arrival of Islam into

Page 5: Future NeWS - 2520 Year Prophecy2520yearprophecy.com/PDF/2008/2008_01.pdfFuture News January, 2008 3 A Consideration of Revelation 18 Dear Jeff: After a study with the some friends,

Future News January, 2008 5

prophetic history, but the “key” that allows thearrival of Islam was the collapse of the SovietUnion in 1989, which paralleled the defeat ofPersia at the battle of Nineveh.

A second question that you have raised isthe history represented by both the parable ofthe ten virgins and the seven thunders. In orderto identify the history both in the Milleritetime and the history today we need to considerthat every great reformatory movement isalways the same.

“The work of God in the earth presents, from age to age, a striking similarity inevery great reformation or religious move-ment. The principles of God’s dealing withmen are ever the same. The importantmovements of the present have their par-allel in those of the past, and the experi-ence of the church in former ages has les-sons of great value for our own time.” TheGreat Controversy, 343.

The “important movements of the present”is the development of the 144,000. Thatmovement has been paralleled by the greatreformatory movements in the “past”. Whenwe consider carefully the past reformatorymovements we find that those movementsestablish prophetic characteristics orwaymarks that illustrate the waymarks that willbe fulfilled at the end of time. The firstwaymark in each of these histories is the “timeof the end”.

As Adventists we correctly understand that1798 was the “time of the end” for theMillerites and that the characteristics of the“time of the end” are specified in Danieltwelve.

And they that be wise shallshine as the brightness of thefirmament; and they that turnmany to righteousness as thestars for ever and ever. But

thou, O Daniel, shut up thewords, and seal the book, evento the time of the end: manyshall run to and fro, andknowledge shall be increased. And he said, Go thy way, Daniel:for the words are closed up andsealed till the time of the end. Many shall be purified, and madewhite, and tried; but the wickedshall do wickedly: and none ofthe wicked shall understand; butthe wise shall understand.Daniel 12:3, 4, 9, 10.

The “time of the end” marks the point whenthere will be a prophetic truth that is unsealed. The “time of the end” marks when there willbe an “increase of knowledge” connected withthe unsealing of the prophetic truth that is atthat point unsealed. The “increase ofknowledge” will be knowledge concerning thenext epoch of sacred history. The “increaseof knowledge” will be discovered by thosewho “run to and fro” in God’s prophetic wordand “understand” the special prophetic“knowledge” that is unsealed at that point intime. Those who “understand” the “increaseof knowledge” are called the “wise” and theyare contrasted with a group that will notrecognize the “increase of knowledge”. Thosewho will not recognize the “increase ofknowledge” are called the “wicked”. Theseattributes of the “time of the end” are wellunderstood within Adventism, but what has notbeen understood is that every “greatreformation” includes a “time of the end” asthe starting point for that particularreformation history.

If we consider the return of the Jews fromBabylon, which is one of the most specificparallels to the Millerite history we can easilylocate the time of the end within that

Page 6: Future NeWS - 2520 Year Prophecy2520yearprophecy.com/PDF/2008/2008_01.pdfFuture News January, 2008 3 A Consideration of Revelation 18 Dear Jeff: After a study with the some friends,

reformatory history. In the history of the Jewsreturning to rebuild Jerusalem we have severalparallel waymarks that allow us to identify thehistory as a type of the Millerite history. Bothhistories are preceded by a captivity of God’speople. With the Jews their captivity endsupon the third decree and with the Milleritesthe captivity ends with the third angel’smessage. It is not an accident that the thirddecree starts the 2,300 year prophecy and thatit ends on the third message.

The Jews work was not finished untilNehemiah is raised up and secures a fourthdecree and our work is finished under thefourth angel’s message. Sister Whiteidentifies that Ezra was “disappointed” onhow few Jews came out of Babylon on thethird decree, and the Millerites weredisappointed when the third message arrived. The first decree by Cyrus was for all thekingdoms of the world and in 1840 the firstangel’s message was carried to “everymission station in the world”.

The history of the second decree includesa false decree by the king Sister White calls“false Smerdis”. That false decree stoppedthe Jew’s work, just as the history of thesecond angel includes the ProtestantChurches closing their doors against theMillerite message. The waymarks of therebuilding of Jerusalem are identical to thewaymarks of the Millerite history, for “God’sdealing with men” in these “greatreformations” is “ever the same”. There wasa time of the end in the history of the Jewsreturning to Babylon.

That time of the end would be a fulfillmentof a prophecy, for 1798 was the fulfillmentof a prophecy identifying that the papacywould receive its deadly wound. Thefulfillment of that prophecy shed propheticlight or unsealed prophetic light on theupcoming epoch of sacred history. For the

Millerites the upcoming epoch was thehistory identifying the opening of thejudgment and when the papacy received itsdeadly wound, then and only then accordingto Daniel seven would the judgment arrive.

When the papacy received its deadlywound the Lord raised up students ofprophecy that began to run to and fro in Hisprophetic word. Their study recognized theincrease of knowledge concerning the nextepoch of sacred history, which as we havealready stated was the judgment. Thereforewhen the next epoch of sacred historyapproached during the captivity of the Jewsin Babylon there would be a fulfillment of aprophecy that would mark the time of the endfor that sacred history, thus shedding light onthe upcoming history. The prophecy that wasfulfilled that marked the time of the end forthe captivity of the Jews was the seventy yearsof Jeremiah 25:12.

And it shall come to pass, when seventy years areaccomplished, that I will punishthe king of Babylon, and thatnation, saith the Lord, fortheir iniquity, and the landof the Chaldeans, and will makeit perpetual desolations.

At that time there would be students ofprophecy running to and fro in God’s wordthat were recognizing not only the fulfillmentof the prophecy, but the unfolding light onthe next epoch of sacred history. Danielhimself is the symbol of the wise whounderstood the increase of propheticknowledge during that history.

In the first year of Dariusthe son of Ahasuerus, of theseed of the Medes, which wasmade king over the realm of the

Page 7: Future NeWS - 2520 Year Prophecy2520yearprophecy.com/PDF/2008/2008_01.pdfFuture News January, 2008 3 A Consideration of Revelation 18 Dear Jeff: After a study with the some friends,

Chaldeans; In the first yearof his reign I Daniel understoodby books the number of the years, whereof the word of the Lordcame to Jeremiah the prophet, that he would accomplish seventyyears in the desolations ofJerusalem. Daniel 9:1, 2.

The captivity was concluding and the nextepoch of sacred history—which was thereturn to and rebuilding of Jerusalem had thenbecome present truth.

“The advent of the army of Cyrus beforethe walls of Babylon was to the Jews a signthat their deliverance from captivity wasdrawing nigh. More than a century beforethe birth of Cyrus, Inspiration had men-tioned him by name, and had caused a recordto be made of the actual work he should doin taking the city of Babylon unawares, andin preparing the way for the release of thechildren of the captivity.” Prophets andKings, 551.

The time of the end in the history of thedeliverance was the fulfillment of the seventy yearsof Jeremiah. A prophecy had been fulfilled, just asthe prophecy of 1,260 years of papal captivity hadbeen fulfilled in 1798 marking the time of the endfor the Millerites. Daniel is portrayed as runningto and fro in the prophetic word just as those whobegan to understand the increase of knowledgedid in the nineteenth century. The next waymarkwithin these sacred histories is the formalizationof the message.

The Lord raised up William Miller, toformalize the present truth message of his timeperiod.

“Special truths have been adapted to theconditions of the generations as they haveexisted. The present truth, which is a test tothe people of this generation, was not a testto the people of generations far back.” Testi-monies, volume 2, 693.

“The Scriptures are constantly opening tothe people of God. There always has been andalways will be a truth specially applicable toeach generation. The message given to Noahwas present truth for that time; and if thepeople had accepted that message, theywould have been saved from drinking thewaters of the flood.” Review and Herald, June29, 1886.

Every reformatory movement has a message ofpresent truth. After the history begins at the time ofthe end, the Lord formalizes the message. In the historyof the Jews deliverance from Babylon the presenttruth message was that it was time to return and build.Daniel had marked that the time of the end had arrivedand then Cyrus was led to formalize the message, justas William Miller was used to formalize the messageof the first angel.

“Daniel’s prayer had been offered ‘in the first yearof Darius’ (verse 1), the Median monarch whosegeneral, Cyrus, had wrested from Babylonia thescepter of universal rule. The reign of Darius washonored of God. To him was sent the angel Gabriel,‘to confirm and to strengthen him.’ Daniel 11:1.Upon his death, within about two years of the fallof Babylon, Cyrus succeeded to the throne, andthe beginning of his reign marked the completionof the seventy years since the first company ofHebrews had been taken by Nebuchadnezzar fromtheir Judean home to Babylon.

“The deliverance of Daniel from the denof lions had been used of God to create a fa-vorable impression upon the mind of Cyrusthe Great. The sterling qualities of the manof God as a statesman of farseeing ability ledthe Persian ruler to show him marked re-spect and to honor his judgment. And now, just at the time God had said He would causeHis temple at Jerusalem to be rebuilt, Hemoved upon Cyrus as His agent to discernthe prophecies concerning himself, withwhich Daniel was so familiar, and to grantthe Jewish people their liberty.” Prophets andKings, 557.

The next waymark in these histories ismarked when Christ or a symbol of Christ joinsthe message and empowers it. With theMillerites it was when the angel of Revelationten descended and empowered the message. With Cyrus decree is was when Christ enteredinto the struggle for Cyrus’s heart.

“While Satan was striving to influencethe highest powers in the kingdom of Medo-Persia to show disfavor to God’s people, an-gels worked in behalf of the exiles. The con-troversy was one in which all heaven wasinterested. Through the prophet Daniel weare given a glimpse of this mighty strugglebetween the forces of good and the forces ofevil.

“For three weeks Gabriel wrestled withthe powers of darkness, seeking to counter-act the influences at work on the mind ofCyrus; and before the contest closed, ChristHimself came to Gabriel’s aid. ‘The princeof the kingdom of Persia withstood me oneand twenty days,’ Gabriel declares; ‘but, lo,Michael, one of the chief princes, came tohelp me; and I remained there with thekings of Persia.’ Daniel 10:13. All thatheaven could do in behalf of the people ofGod was done. The victory was finallygained; the forces of the enemy were heldin check all the days of Cyrus, and all thedays of his son Cambyses, who reignedabout seven and a half years.

“This was a time of wonderful opportu-nity for the Jews. The highest agencies ofheaven were working on the hearts of kings, and it was for the people of God to labor withthe utmost activity to carry out the decreeof Cyrus.” Prophets and Kings, 571.

The 2,300 year prophecy begins at the thirddecree and ends at the third angel’s message. The work of rebuilding is finished withNehemiah’s fourth decree and Adventism’swork is finished under the fourth angel. Withinthe history of the 2,300 years, we find the

reformatory movement of Christ. Theprophecy that marks the time of the end forthis epoch of sacred history is set forth byIsaiah.

Therefore the Lord himselfshall give you a sign; Behold,a virgin shall conceive, and beara son, and shall call his nameImmanuel. Isaiah 7:14.

Just as “the advent of the army of Cyrusbefore the walls of Babylon was to the Jews asign that their deliverance from captivity wasdrawing nigh” the birth of Christ was a “sign”to the Jews living during the history of Christ. When Christ was born a prophecy was fulfilledidentifying the time of the end for thatgeneration. There was then to be an increaseof knowledge upon the next epoch of sacredhistory. That epoch was the history ofImmanuel, Christ with us. Those running toand fro in God’s prophetic word were the wisemen from the east, the shepherds on the hills,Simeon and Anna.

“As Simeon enters the temple, he sees afamily presenting their first-born son be-fore the priest. Their appearance bespeakspoverty; but Simeon understands the warn-ings of the Spirit, and he is deeply im-pressed that the infant being presented tothe Lord is the Consolation of Israel, theOne he has longed to see. To the astonishedpriest, Simeon appears like a man enrap-tured. The child has been returned to Mary, and he takes it in his arms and presents itto God, while a joy that he has never beforefelt enters his soul. As he lifts the infantSaviour toward heaven, he says, ‘Lord, nowlettest Thou Thy servant depart in peace, according to Thy word: for mine eyes haveseen Thy salvation, which Thou hast pre-pared before the face of all people; a lightto lighten the Gentiles, and the glory of Thypeople Israel.’

Page 9: Future NeWS - 2520 Year Prophecy2520yearprophecy.com/PDF/2008/2008_01.pdfFuture News January, 2008 3 A Consideration of Revelation 18 Dear Jeff: After a study with the some friends,

“The spirit of prophecy was upon thisman of God, and while Joseph and Marystood by, wondering at his words, he blessedthem, and said unto Mary, ‘Behold, thischild is set for the fall and rising again ofmany in Israel; and for a sign which shallbe spoken against; (yea, a sword shall piercethrough thy own soul also,) that thethoughts of many hearts may be revealed.’

“Anna also, a prophetess, came in andconfirmed Simeon’s testimony concerningChrist. As Simeon spoke, her face lightedup with the glory of God, and she pouredout her heartfelt thanks that she had beenpermitted to behold Christ the Lord.

“These humble worshipers had not stud-ied the prophecies in vain. But those whoheld positions as rulers and priests in Is-rael, though they too had before them theprecious utterances of prophecy, were notwalking in the way of the Lord, and theireyes were not open to behold the Light oflife.” The Desire of Ages, 55.

At this fulfillment of prophecy the timeof the end begins, and just as there areidentified men and woman running to and froin their prophetic understanding, there is notedan increase of knowledge.

“Through the wise men, God had calledthe attention of the Jewish nation to thebirth of His Son. Their inquiries in Jerusa-lem, the popular interest excited, and eventhe jealousy of Herod, which compelled theattention of the priests and rabbis, directedminds to the prophecies concerning theMessiah, and to the great event that hadjust taken place.” The Desire of Ages, 64.

From Christ birth onward there was anincrease of knowledge noted in the Scriptures.

“It is written of Jesus in childhood that‘the child grew, and waxed strong in spirit, filled with wisdom; and the grace of God wasupon him.’ When only twelve years of age,he made manifest the fact that his mindwas developing along spiritual lines. His

parents went to Jerusalem every year tothe feast of the Passover, and in his twelfthyear Jesus accompanied them to the city.‘And when they had fulfilled the days, asthey returned, the child Jesus tarried be-hind in Jerusalem; and Joseph and hismother knew not of it. But they, supposinghim to have been in the company, went aday’s journey; and they sought him amongtheir kinsfolk and acquaintance; and whenthey found him not, they turned back againto Jerusalem, seeking him.’ For three daysthey sought him anxiously; for they wereawakened to a sense of the responsibilityof the charge that God had placed uponthem. ‘And it came to pass, that after threedays they found him in the temple, sittingin the midst of the doctors, both hearingthem, and asking them questions. And allthat heard him were astonished at his un-derstanding and answers.’” Signs of theTimes, July 30, 1896.

In the history of Christ the Lord used Johnthe Baptist to formalize the message of thattime and Sister White often compares WilliamMiller with John.

“As John the Baptist heralded the firstadvent of Jesus and prepared the way for Hiscoming, so William Miller and those whojoined with him proclaimed the second ad-vent of the Son of God.” Early Writings, 229.

“An angel from heaven came to instructZacharias and Elizabeth as to how theyshould train and educate their child, so as towork in harmony with God in preparing amessenger to announce the coming ofChrist.” Child Guidance, 22.

“I saw that God sent his angel to moveupon the heart of a farmer [William Miller]who had not believed the Bible, and led himto search the prophecies. Angels of God re-peatedly visited that chosen one, and guidedhis mind, and opened his understanding toprophecies which had ever been dark to God’speople.” Spiritual Gifts, volume 1, 129.

The next waymark in these sacredreformatory movements is when a divinesymbol empowers the formalized message.Christ came and wrestled with Cyrus, and Hedescended in 1840 to empower the firstangel’s message. John’s message wasempowered at the baptism of Christ. It wasthis event that placed John’s ministry abovethe power of the Pharisees.

“The priests saw that they were in a di-lemma from which no sophistry could ex-tricate them. If they said that John’s bap-tism was from heaven, their inconsistencywould be made apparent. Christ would say,Why then have you not believed on John? After the baptism of Christ, John had seenthe glory of God, like a dove of burnishedgold, resting upon Him, while the voice ofthe Infinite One proclaimed, ‘This is Mybeloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.’And John had testified of Christ, ‘Beholdthe Lamb of God, which taketh away thesin of the world.’ Why, then, if the Phari-sees believed on John, did they deny theMessiahship of Christ?

“If the Pharisees stated their true belief, and affirmed John’s baptism to have beenof men, the wrath of the people would beturned against them, instead of againstChrist; for they believed John to be aprophet.

“With intense interest the multitudewaited to hear the decision of the Pharisees.Hypocritically professing ignorance, theysaid, ‘We can not tell.’ ‘Neither tell I you,’said Christ, ‘by what authority I do thesethings.’” Signs of the Times, February 10,1898.

There is more to say about these sacredreformatory movements and the waymarksillustrated within them, but we have identifiedenough now to address one of your questions. The Millerite history begins in the time of theend, which was 1798. On August 11, 1840 themessage that had been formalized by William

Miller was empowered and a testing timebegan. When Christ joins and empowers theformalized message in these sacred histories,He also marks the beginning of a testing time.Let us begin with the reformation history ofMoses. Moses is a type of Christ. We are toldby Luke:

For Moses truly said unto thefathers, A prophet shall the Lordyour God raise up unto you ofyour brethren, like unto me; himshall ye hear in all thingswhatsoever he shall say unto you.Acts 3:22.

There are several ways to demonstrate thatMoses was a type of Christ and here in Actswe are plainly told that Christ would be “likeunto” Moses. Therefore the time of the endin the history of Moses was Moses birth. When Moses was born we see symbolicallyportrayed the increase of knowledge as he istaken into the schools of Egypt while at thesame time being educated by his mother in theschool of Christ. By the time Moses is a manthe increase of knowledge concerning thedeliverance of the Jews from Egypt and thepart Moses played in the deliverance hasgrown to the point that the Jews know he isthe one who is supposed to take them out ofEgyptian bondage.

Many years later the message of that timeis formalized at the burning bush. Once themessage is formalized Moses begins hisjourney back to Egypt but Christ comes downto empower the message.

And it came to pass by theway in the inn, that the Lordmet him, and sought to kill him. Then Zipporah took a sharp stone, and cut off the foreskin of herson, and cast it at his feet,

and said, Surely a bloodyhusband art thou to me. So helet him go: then she said, Abloody husband thou art, becauseof the circumcision. Exodus4:24-26.

“On the way from Midian, Moses re-ceived a startling and terrible warning ofthe Lord’s displeasure. An angel appearedto him in a threatening manner, as if hewould immediately destroy him. No expla-nation was given; but Moses rememberedthat he had disregarded one of God’s re-quirements; yielding to the persuasion ofhis wife, he had neglected to perform therite of circumcision upon their youngestson. He had failed to comply with the con-dition by which his child could be entitledto the blessings of God’s covenant with Is-rael; and such a neglect on the part of theirchosen leader could not but lessen the forceof the divine precepts upon the people.Zipporah, fearing that her husband wouldbe slain, performed the rite herself, and theangel then permitted Moses to pursue hisjourney. In his mission to Pharaoh, Moseswas to be placed in a position of great peril;his life could be preserved only through theprotection of holy angels. But while livingin neglect of a known duty, he would not besecure; for he could not be shielded by theangels of God.” Patriarchs and Prophets,255.

The Lord met Moses marking theempowerment of the message, for a “neglect”of circumcision would have lessened “theforce of the divine precepts upon the people”.The message was thus empowered, but at thesame time we see the rite of circumcisionmarking a test. The circumcision wasaccomplished by Zipporah, representing a testthat the woman would participate in, orfiguratively marking the start of a testingprocess for the church. Circumcision is an

interchangeable symbol with baptism and inthe paralle history of Christ, when the dovedescended to empower the message, Christthen immediately went into the wildernesstesting time. When Christ empowers themessage, He also marks the beginning of atesting process. In Revelation ten when Hecame down he held the little book of Danielopen in His hand and John was then told totake the book and eat it. Jeremiah ate the wordof God and in so doing marked a testingprocess that causes God’s people to “fightagainst” Jeremiah, though it was not Jeremiahthat they fought against, but they fought againstthe words that Jeremiah had eaten.

Thy words were found, and I dideat them; and thy word was unto methe joy and rejoicing of mine heart:for I am called by thy name, O LordGod of hosts. . . . And I will makethee unto this people a fenced brazenwall: and they shall fight againstthee, but they shall not prevailagainst thee: for I am with thee tosave thee and to deliver thee, saiththe Lord. . . . And it shall come topass, when thou shalt show thispeople all these words, and theyshall say unto thee, Wherefore haththe Lord pronounced all this greatevil against us? or what is ouriniquity? or what is our sin that wehave committed against the Lord ourGod? Then shalt thou say unto them,Because your fathers have forsakenme, saith the Lord, and have walkedafter other gods, and have servedthem, and have worshipped them, andhave forsaken me, and have not keptmy law; Jeremiah 15:16, 20, 16:10,11.

It is the same experience when Ezekiel ateGod’s word.

And he said unto me, Son ofman, stand upon thy feet, and Iwill speak unto thee. And thespirit entered into me when hespake unto me, and set me uponmy feet, that I heard him thatspake unto me. And he said untome, Son of man, I send thee tothe children of Israel, to arebellious nation that hathrebelled against me: they andtheir fathers have transgressedagainst me, even unto this veryday. For they are impudentchildren and stiffhearted. I dosend thee unto them; and thoushalt say unto them, Thus saiththe Lord God. And they, whetherthey will hear, or whether theywill forbear, (for they are arebellious house,) yet shall knowthat there hath been a prophetamong them.

And thou, son of man, be notafraid of them, neither be afraidof their words, though briersand thorns be with thee, andthou dost dwell among scorpions:be not afraid of their words, nor be dismayed at their looks, though they be a rebellioushouse. And thou shalt speak mywords unto them, whether theywill hear, or whether they willforbear: for they are mostrebellious. But thou, son of man, hear what I say unto thee; Benot thou rebellious like that

rebellious house: open thy mouth, and eat that I give thee.

And when I looked, behold,an hand was sent unto me; and,lo, a roll of a book was therein; And he spread it before me; andit was written within andwithout: and there was writtentherein lamentations, andmourning, and woe. Moreover hesaid unto me, Son of man, eatthat thou findest; eat thisroll, and go speak unto thehouse of Israel. So I opened mymouth, and he caused me to eatthat roll. And he said unto me,Son of man, cause thy belly toeat, and fill thy bowels withthis roll that I give thee. Thendid I eat it; and it was in mymouth as honey for sweetness.

And he said unto me, Son ofman, go, get thee unto the houseof Israel, and speak with mywords unto them. For thou artnot sent to a people of a strangespeech and of an hard language, but to the house of Israel; Notto many people of a strangespeech and of an hard language, whose words thou canst notunderstand. Surely, had I sentthee to them, they would havehearkened unto thee. But thehouse of Israel will not hearkenunto thee; for they will nothearken unto me: for all thehouse of Israel are impudent andhardhearted. Behold, I have madethy face strong against their

When John took the little book and ate inRevelation ten he was identifying a testingprocess that began when the angel descendedon August 11, 1840. From 1840 through 1844there was a testing process brought upon theMillerites that ultimately produced roughlyfifty wise virgins that entered into the MostHoly Place with Christ. Therefore when asymbol of Christ joins and empowers themessage that has been formalized within thesesacred histories, there is a testing process thatbegins at that point. With these thoughts inplace we return to the questions underconsideration. For the Millerites 1798 was thetime of the end. William Miller was used toformalize the present truth message for thatgeneration and in 1840 the message wasempowered and a testing process began. It ishere that the parable of the ten virgins and theseven thunders start. The parable of the tenvirgins illustrates the experience of theMillerites during the testing process and theseven thunders emphasize the events of thattime period. Therefore the parable of the tenvirgins and the seven thunders represent thehistory of August 11, 1840 through October22, 1844.

“The parable of the ten virgins of Mat-thew 25 also illustrates the experience ofthe Adventist people.” The Great Contro-versy, 393.

“The special light given to John whichwas expressed in the seven thunders was adelineation of events which would transpireunder the first and second angels’ mes-sages.” The Seventh-day Adventist BibleCommentary, volume 7, 971.

The time of the end for the 144,000 wasthe fulfillment of the collapse of the SovietUnion in 1989. This fulfillment of prophecymarked the first step in the work of rstoringthe lost ascendancy of the man of sin. Beforepagan Rome took control of the world it hadto overcome three geographical areas: Egypt,Syria and Israel. This prediction is found inDaniel 8:9 and 11:16, 17. Before the papacytook control of the world it had to overcomethree geographical areas: The Heruli, theOstrogoths and the Vandals. This predictionis found in Daniel 7. Before the modernpapacy returns to its former position of powerit will need to overcome three geographicalobstacles as outline in Daniel 11:40–43: theking of the south, the glorious land and Egypt. The first of those obstacles was overcome in1989 when the Soviet Union was brought downby an alliance between the USA and theVatican. The fulfillment of this prophecy shedlight upon the next epoch of sacred history. That epoch of history is the healing of thedeadly wound of the papacy.

Therefore 1989 marks the time of the endfor the 144,000 and September 11, 2001 isthe point where the present truth message ofthis generation is empowered and when atesting process for God’s modern peoplebegins. The parable of the ten virgins and theseven thunders that are repeated in thisgeneration is marking September 11, 2001until the Sunday law testing time.

Another question that you have raisedconcerns Revelation 18 part “a” and “b”.

Page 14: Future NeWS - 2520 Year Prophecy2520yearprophecy.com/PDF/2008/2008_01.pdfFuture News January, 2008 3 A Consideration of Revelation 18 Dear Jeff: After a study with the some friends,

Revelation 18:1–3—Part “a”:

And after these things I sawanother angel come down fromheaven, having great power; andthe earth was lightened with hisglory. And he cried mightily witha strong voice, saying, Babylonthe great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation ofdevils, and the hold of everyfoul spirit, and a cage of everyunclean and hateful bird. Forall nations have drunk of thewine of the wrath of herfornication, and the kings ofthe earth have committedfornication with her, and themerchants of the earth are waxedrich through the abundance ofher delicacies.

Revelation 18:4—Part “b”:

And I heard another voice fromheaven, saying, Come out of her,my people, that ye be notpartakers of her sins, and thatye receive not of her plagues.

Sister White identifies that angelsrepresent the work the people of Godaccomplish.

“‘Another angel’ is to come down fromheaven. This angel represents the giv-This angel represents the giv-This angel represents the giv-This angel represents the giv-This angel represents the giv-ing of the loud crying of the loud crying of the loud crying of the loud crying of the loud cry, which is to come fromthose who are preparing to cry mightily, with a strong voice, ‘Babylon the great isfallen, is fallen, and is become the habita-tion of devils, and the hold of every foulspirit, and a cage of every unclean andhateful bird’ (Revelation 18:1, 2).” SelectedMessages, book 3, 412.

“John saw ‘Another angel come downfrom heaven, having great power; and thewhole earth was lightened with his glory.’Revelation 18:1. Therefore Revelation eighteen isidentifying a two-fold work that isaccomplished by God’s people during thelatter rain, loud cry time-period. Verses onethrough three we hear an angel cry “mightilywith a strong voice”, but in verse four we hear“another voice”. We understand that thehistory of the Millerites is to be repeated andduring that history the first and second angel’smessages were proclaimed. Therefore the firstand second angel’s messages will be repeated. The angels represent a work that wasaccomplished by the Millerites and a work thatparallels the work accomplished by the144,000.

“The whole earth is to be lightenedThe whole earth is to be lightenedThe whole earth is to be lightenedThe whole earth is to be lightenedThe whole earth is to be lightenedwith the glory of the Lordwith the glory of the Lordwith the glory of the Lordwith the glory of the Lordwith the glory of the Lord. Future News January, 2008 15

When we understand that the first andsecond angels are repeated we then recognizethat the Millerite history is to run parallel withthe history of the 144,000.

“God has given the messages of Revela-tion 14 their place in the line of prophecy, and their work is not to cease till the closeof this earth’s history. The first and secondangel’s messages are still truth for thistime, and are to run parallel with thisare to run parallel with thisare to run parallel with thisare to run parallel with thisare to run parallel with thiswhich follows.which follows.which follows.which follows.which follows. The third angel proclaimshis warning with a loud voice. ‘After thesethings,’ said John, ‘I saw another angelcome down from heaven, having greatpower, and the earth was lightened with hisglory.’ In this illumination, the light of allthe light of allthe light of allthe light of allthe light of allthe three messages is combinedthe three messages is combinedthe three messages is combinedthe three messages is combinedthe three messages is combined.” The1888 Materials, 804.

When we identify part “a” and part “b” inRevelation eighteen we are simply beingspecific to the two voices there identified andmaking a distinction concerning a two-foldwork that is accomplished when Revelationeighteen is fulfilled. Identifying a work is inagreement with how inspiration represents theangels in both Revelation fourteen andeighteen. By thus noting the distinction wefind agreement with inspiration’s direction thatthe first and second angel’s messages are tobe repeated and are to parallel the work ofRevelation eighteen.

The first message was empowered onAugust 11, 1840 when the angel of Revelationten descended. This parallels the angel thatlightens the earth with his glory in chaptereighteen. The second angel’s message beganwhen the Protestants of the USA closed thedoor against the first angel’s message andparallels when the Protestants of the USAclose the door against the third angel’smessage.

Therefore part “a” of Revelation eighteenis marking the empowerment of the thirdangel’s message and the beginning of the

testing process for Adventists at the end oftime. Part “b” is the Sunday law testing time, for the voice of verse four calls people out ofBabylon, and the call out of Babylon begins atthe Sunday law testing time. Revelation 18:1–3 is a parallel passage to Daniel 11:40, andRevelation 18:4 parallels to Daniel 11:41.

You also ask about the proclamation of themidnight cry and the proclamation of the loudcry. Both occur before the door is closed. Thedoor closed in the Millerite time-period onOctober 22, 1844 when the door in the parablewas closed and the door into the holy placewas closed. The door closes at the end whenMichael stands up in fulfillment of Daniel12:1 and Revelation 22:11. Prior to Michaelstanding up and human probation closing theloud cry will have accomplished its work, justas the midnight cry accomplished its work inthe Millerite history. The testing processconcludes when the door closes.

The testing process for the Millerites wasfrom August 11, 1840 when the angel ofRevelation ten descended with the little bookof Daniel open in his hand and John then ate itup. The test concluded when John’s stomachbecame biter on October 23, 1844. The testingprocess begins for the 144,000 when the angelof Revelation eighteen descends and the earthis lightened with his glory. It concludes whenthe disappointment arrives. Thedisappointment follows the third message inthe great reformatory movements, and thedisappointment is associated with the numberseven.

In the reformatory movement of Noahafter the door closes marking the thirdmessage, there was no rain for seven days. Inthe story of Elijah, after the judgment of theprophets of Baal Elijah’s disappointment wasrepresented by the fact that he needed to prayseven times for the rain. In the history ofChrist, after the cross we have the

Page 16: Future NeWS - 2520 Year Prophecy2520yearprophecy.com/PDF/2008/2008_01.pdfFuture News January, 2008 3 A Consideration of Revelation 18 Dear Jeff: After a study with the some friends,

disappointment of the disciples while Christrested in the tomb on the seventh day. Afterthe judgment of the firstborn in the history ofMoses the Jews suffered disappointment at theRed Sea when Pharaoh’s army approached. After Shadrach, Meshach and Abednegorepresented God’s people coming to theSunday law test at Nebuchadnezzar’s imagetest the furnace was heated seven times. Thenumber seven is associated with thedisappointment that follows the waymarkwhere judgment is represented and the doorcloses.

For the Millerites the disappointmentfollowed the opening of the judgment onOctober 22, 1844 where the door closed forthe virgins of the Millerite time and the doorinto the holy placed closed in the heavenlysanctuary. On October 23, 1844 not only didthe Millerites suffer disappointment but theyhad reached the point where they then had tocome to understand the seventh-day Sabbath. This marked the conclusion of the testing timethat began on August 11, 1840.

For the 144,000 the disappointment thatfollows the waymark where judgment isrepresented will be the disappointment thatfollows the ending of the investigativejudgment when the door of human probationis closed. The disappointment represented bythe number seven there illustrated are theseven last plagues. Therefore the testing timethat begins for the 144,000 when the angeldescended on September 11, 2001 finisheswhen Michael stands up and the seven lastplagues begin.

This answer doesn’t identify every aspectof the repetition of these two histories, buthopefully it gives enough information to helpyou in bringing these truths into a properperspective. Jeff

Islam and the Four Winds of Strife

Hello Jeff:I wanted to shoot this email to you while it was

somewhat fresh in this mind. Something thatyou shared either with me or in my presenceand something that JS said at the 2007 prophecyschool caused me to need to clarify. I’m notexactly certain as to how you represented it,but you were tying Islam to four winds of strifethat were to blow. I do not see any correlationto the four angels of Revelation seven andwondered what I might have misunderstood.Forgive the intrusion but I need to just clarify.God bless you friend! WS

Brother WS:I will identify the prophetic points where

Islam as the third woe and the winds of strifecan be defended. It is when you bring thesepoints together, line upon line, that youdevelop the complete picture of Islam in Bibleprophecy.

1. The Ancient People—In connectionwith Christ portraying the end from thebeginning, He identifies that He appointed theancient people to illustrate the end of theworld.

Thus saith the Lord the Kingof Israel, and his redeemer theLord of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; and besideme there is no God. And who, asI, shall call, and shall declareit, and set it in order for me,since I appointed the ancientpeople? and the things that arecoming, and shall come, let themshow unto them. Isaiah 44:6, 7.

2. The Prophecy of Islam—Prophecyidentifies Islam’s role as an ancient people atthe end of the world in Genesis 16:12 as apeople that “will be against every man”.

Page 17: Future NeWS - 2520 Year Prophecy2520yearprophecy.com/PDF/2008/2008_01.pdfFuture News January, 2008 3 A Consideration of Revelation 18 Dear Jeff: After a study with the some friends,

And the angel of the Lord saidunto her, I will multiply thyseed exceedingly, that it shallnot be numbered for multitude. And the angel of the Lord saidunto her, Behold, thou art withchild, and shalt bear a son,and shalt call his name Ishmael;because the Lord hath heard thyaffliction. And he will be awild man; his hand will beagainst every man, and everyman’s hand against him; and heshall dwell in the presence ofall his brethren. Genesis 16:10-12.

3. Islam as a subject of Prophecy—Thepioneers of Adventism identify Islam as thesubject of the first and second woe. SisterWhite endorses the pioneer understanding ofIslam as the first and second woe at least ninedifferent times.

4. The Pioneer Understanding ofIslam—The pioneers illustrated Islam with awarhorse on both the 1843 and 1850 charts.

“I have seen that the 1843 chart was di-di-di-di-di-rected by the hand of the Lordrected by the hand of the Lordrected by the hand of the Lordrected by the hand of the Lordrected by the hand of the Lord, andthat it should not be altered; that the fig-ures were as He wanted them; that Hishand was over and hid a mistake in someof the figures, so that none could see it, untilHis hand was removed.” Early Writings, 74.

“I saw that God was in theGod was in theGod was in theGod was in theGod was in thepublishment of the chart by Brotherpublishment of the chart by Brotherpublishment of the chart by Brotherpublishment of the chart by Brotherpublishment of the chart by BrotherNicholsNicholsNicholsNicholsNichols. 5. Troublous Times—As the greatreformatory movements parallel and prefigureAdventism at the end of the world, thewaymark of the fourth angel parallels thehistory of the building of the walls and streetsby Nehemiah. Nehemiah’s work wasaccomplished in “troublous times”. Islamrepresents the troublous times in the historyof the fourth angel and as such, is alsorepresented as the angering of the nations ofthe third woe found in Revelation 11:18, aswell as the distress of nations of Luke 21:25.

The “troublous times” are a subject ofprophecy, and Islam’s role is to produce thesetroublous times that occur during the sealingof the 144,000.

6. Revelation Nine’s Symbol of Islam—Islam is represented as a warhorse that bringswarfare against the armies of Rome in the firstand second woe of Revelation nine. Thepioneers symbolically represent Islam as warhorses on both the 1843 and 1850 charts.

And the shapes of the locustswere like unto horses preparedunto battle. Revelation 9:7.

7. The Winds of Strife—Sister Whiteidentifies the winds of strife as an angry horse,in spite of no identification of a horse inRevelation 7:1–3. The angry horse bears deathand destruction, and this truth is set forth inconnection with the sealing of God’s peoplein the last days.

“Angels are holding the four winds, the four winds, the four winds, the four winds, the four winds, represented as an angry horserepresented as an angry horserepresented as an angry horserepresented as an angry horserepresented as an angry horse seekingto break loose and rush over the face of thewhole earth, bearing destruction and deathin its path.

“Shall we sleep on the very verge of theeternal world? Shall we be dull and cold anddead? Oh, that we might have in ourchurches the Spirit and breath of Godbreathed into His people, that they might

“We need now to arise and shine, for ourlight has come, and the glory of the Lordhas risen upon us. We have no time to talkof self, no time to become like the sensitiveplant, that cannot be touched withoutshrinking. In Jesus Christ is our sufficiency. Will we talk faith? Will we talk of the glori-ous hope, of the full and abundant righ-teousness of Jesus Christ, provided for ev-ery soul? At the time when “latter rain” or“refreshing” comes “to give power to the loudcry of the third angel”, “trouble” or theangering of “the nations” will “be coming onthe earth”. “Yet” at that time the angry nationswill be “held in check” so as to “not preventthe work of the third angel”.

The time of the latter rain is also the timeof the angering of the nations. It has beenprefigured by the troublous times ofNehemiah. Yet that period of time begins whenthe angry nations are restrained. Therestraining of the angry nations occurs at thevery time when the winds of strife arerestrained, marking the beginning of thesealing time of the 144,000. The sealing ofthe 144,000 is the “work of the third angel”which takes place when “the work of salvationis closing”.

“Especially in the closing work for thechurch, in the sealing time of the one hun-dred and forty-four thousand, who are tostand without fault before the throne ofGod, will they feel most deeply the wrongsof God’s professed people.” Review and Her-ald, June 8, 1886.

The prophetic starting point of the sealingof the 144,000 is marked by the restrainingof the winds of strife and the angry nations. This starting point also marks when the latterrain begins to sprinkle. During the sprinklingof the latter rain the wheat and tares ofAdventism are still together.

“Unless we are daily advancing in theexemplification of the active Christian vir-tues, we shall not recognize the manifesta-tions of the Holy Spirit in the latter rain. Itmay be falling on hearts all around us, butwe shall not discern or receive it.” Testimo-nies to Ministers, 507.

One function of the latter rain is to reviveGod’s people. This fact identifies that the latterrain begins to fall when both the wise andfoolish virgins of Adventism are sleeping.

“As the third message swells to a loudcry, and as great power and glory attendthe closing work, the faithful people of Godwill partake of that glory. It is the latterrain which revivesrevivesrevivesrevivesrevives and strengthens themto pass through the time of trouble. Their

faces will shine with the glory of that lightwhich attends the third angel.” Testimo-nies, volume 1, 353.

“Revival signifies a renewal of spirituallife, a quickening of the powers of mind andheart, a resurrection from spiritual death.”Selected Messages, book 1, 128.

If we wait to be revived until the Sundaylaw, we will be lost!

The latter rain revives us, thereforeidentifying that the latter rain must firstawaken the believer from “spiritual death”. Therestraining of the winds of strife marks thebeginning of the sealing of the 144,000. Itmarks the beginning of the closing work ofthe third angel. The loud cry of the third angelis accomplished when the angel of Revelationeighteen joins the third angel. Sister Whitecompares the history of the loud cry of thethird angel with both the history of theMillerites and Pentecost.

“The angel who unites in the proclama-tion of the third angel’s message is tolighten the whole earth with his glory. Awork of world-wide extent and unwontedpower is here foretold. The advent move-ment of 1840-44 was a glorious manifesta-tion of the power of God; the first angel’smessage was carried to every missionarystation in the world, and in some countriesthere was the greatest religious interestwhich has been witnessed in any land sincethe Reformation of the sixteenth century;but these are to be exceeded by the mightymovement under the last warning of thethird angel.

“The work will be similar to that of theDay of Pentecost.” The Great Controversy,611.

The outpouring of the Holy Spirit in thehistory of Pentecost began with a sprinklingthat preceded the full outpouring on the dayof Pentecost.

“The act of Christ in breathing upon hisdisciples the Holy Ghost, and in impartinghis peace to them, was as a few drops be-a few drops be-a few drops be-a few drops be-a few drops be-fore the plentiful showerfore the plentiful showerfore the plentiful showerfore the plentiful showerfore the plentiful shower to be given onthe day of Pentecost.” The Spirit of Proph-ecy, volume 3, 244.

“Before He left His disciples, Christ‘breathed on them, and saith unto them,Receive ye the Holy Ghost.’ John 20:22.Again He said, ‘Behold, I send the promiseof My Father upon you.’ Luke 24:49. Butnot until after the ascension was the giftreceived in its fullness. The sprinkling of the latter rain beginsbefore the Sunday law. At the Sunday law thechurch will be purified, for then the wheat andthe tares are separated and then the Holy Spiritwill be poured out without measure. When theclosing work of the third angel begins thewinds of strife and the angry nations arerestrained, thus marking the time when thelatter rain begins to sprinkle and the sealingof the 144,000 begins.

9. The Restraining of Islam—Islam ofthe second woe was restrained on August 11,1840 by the four great European powers. Theprophecy in Revelation 9:14, 15 that identifiesthe restraining of Islam in 1840 lasted for aday month hour and year, or 391 years 15 days.In the prophecy there were four angelsprepared to bring warfare during that time-period against the armies of Rome. Those fourangels of Islam were released on July 27,1449 and on August 11, 1840 those four angelsof Islam were restrained.

10. The Millerite History is Repeated— (a) Recognizing that he Millerite historyis repeated identifies that it was a propheticmessage from one of the woe trumpets thatwas used by the Lord to empower the firstangel’s message in 1840. It is reasonable thento expect that a prophetic message from a woetrumpet will empower God’s people at the endof time when the Millerite history is repeated.

(b) Sister White identifies 1840–1844 asa history that prefigures the sealing time ofthe 144,000 and that has also been prefiguredby the history of Pentecost in The GreatControversy, 611. The history of 1840–1844is a type of the sealing time of the 144,000just as the history of Pentecost is a type ofthe sealing of the 144,000. The Milleritehistory that prefigures the sealing of the144,000 began when Islam was restrained.

(c) The empowerment of the Milleriteswas accomplished when the four greatEuropean powers came together to decide thefate of Islam. On September 11, 2001 heentire world (and the number four representsworldwide in Bible prophecy) came togetherto decide the fate of Islam. When the fourEuropean powers dealt with Islam in 1840 theyrestrained Islam, and since September 11,2001 the world has placed a restraint uponIslam.

11. Daniel 11:40—Daniel 11:40 containsa prophetic history that parallels the historyof Revelation 9:1–3 where a long drawn outwar between Persia and Rome is identified asthe key that allowed Islam to rise into history. The long drawn out war between the king ofthe north and the king of the south in verseforty parallels that history, and when the SovietUnion was brought down in 1989, the key thatallows modern Islam to return into prophetichistory had been turned. In Revelation 9:1–3we see the information concerning the key,and then in the next verse (verse four) we see

a reference to the sealing of God’s people.Just as the collapse of the Soviet Union infulfillment of verse forty was the key formodern Islam to return into prophetic historythe following verse identifies the Sunday lawin the USA when the seal is demonstrated.

And it was commanded them thatthey should not hurt the grassof the earth, neither any greenthing, neither any tree; but onlythose men which have not theseal of God in their foreheads.Revelation 9:4.

He shall enter also into theglorious land, and manycountries shall be overthrown:but these shall escape out ofhis hand, even Edom, and Moab, and the chief of the childrenof Ammon. Daniel 11:41.

12. A Triple Application of Prophecy—The three woes are governed by the principleof a triple application of prophecy. That rulepoints out that when a prophecy is repeatedthree times, the first two fulfillments willestablish the characteristics of the thirdfulfillment.

The first woe identified Islam bringingwarfare against the armies of Rome. The Islamof that history was located in Arabia and wasonly to hurt the armies of Rome. Islam’s modeof warfare was to strike suddenly andunexpectedly. The history covered by the firstwoe is identified as the first great jihad bymodern Islam.

The second woe identified Islam bringingwarfare against the armies of Rome. The Islamof that history was located in Turkey and wasto kill the armies of Rome. Islam’s mode ofwarfare was to strike suddenly andunexpectedly, but with added feature of

Page 21: Future NeWS - 2520 Year Prophecy2520yearprophecy.com/PDF/2008/2008_01.pdfFuture News January, 2008 3 A Consideration of Revelation 18 Dear Jeff: After a study with the some friends,

Future News January, 2008 21

explosives in that history. The history coveredby the second woe is identified as the secondgreat jihad by modern Islam.

Therefore: The third woe will be modernIslam bringing warfare against the armies ofRome. At the end of the world the armies ofRome are the armies of the United States. TheIslam of this history will be worldwide andwill first hurt the United States producing thesocial and political environment to bring abouta Sunday law in the United States and then itwill continue to escalate its warfare until theUnited States is thrown into the lake of fire. After the long drawn out war between papalRome and spiritual Persia illustrated in Daniel11:40 is accomplished in 1989 the key willhave been turned that allows Islam to returninto prophetic history again, and when it doesits warfare will be to strike suddenly andunexpectedly with explosives, against theUnited States. This event took place onSeptember 11, 2001 and modern Islamidentifies that since that time they were nowin the third great jihad.

Immediately after September 11, 2001 thepresident of the United States went to theUnited Nations and identified that the worldwas now in a world-wide war with Islam, andat that time a restraint has been placed uponIslam.

13. Power, Seat and Great Authority—Christ portrays the end of a thing from thebeginning of a thing. In Revelation 13:2 weare told that pagan Rome gave three things tothe papacy. Pagan Rome gave its militarypower to the papacy starting with Clovis in 496and continuing on through the Dark Ages.Pagan Rome gave its seat to the papacy whenConstantine moved the capital of the Empirefrom the city of Rome unto Constantinoplein the year 330. And pagan Rome gave its civilauthority to the papacy in 533, when Justinianidentified the pope of Rome as the corrector

of heretics and the head of the churches.Pagan Rome gave three things to the papacyand removed three things for the papacy. Itremoved the Heruli, Ostrogoths and Vandals.

The United States will accomplish this verywork for the modern papacy. It will use itsmilitary and economic power to remove theking of the south, the glorious land and Egyptas identified in Daniel 11:40–43. It began tosubmit its military power to the papacy in theReagan years when it formed a secret allianceto bring down the Soviet Union in 1989. It gaveits moral “seat” of authority to the papacy in atwo step process. The first step was when thechurches of the USA closed their doors againstthe first angel’s message in 1842. Inspirationtells us that at this point the USA suffered amoral fall, but that the fall is progressive. Thepolitical arm of the USA had to submit to themoral authority of Rome as well, and thishappened in the Reagan years when the secretalliance was formed. The Bible asks thequestion:

Can two walk together, exceptthey be agreed. Amos 3:3.

The other action that still remains is forthe civil authority of the world to be given tothe papacy. This is fulfilled in Revelation 17:

And the ten horns which thousawest are ten kings, which havereceived no kingdom as yet; butreceive power as kings one hourwith the beast. These have onemind, and shall give their powerand strength unto the beast. ForGod hath put in their hearts tofulfil his will, and to agree, and give their kingdom untothe beast, until the words ofGod shall be fulfilled. Verses12, 13, 17.

Page 22: Future NeWS - 2520 Year Prophecy2520yearprophecy.com/PDF/2008/2008_01.pdfFuture News January, 2008 3 A Consideration of Revelation 18 Dear Jeff: After a study with the some friends,

22 January, 2008 Future News

To understand why the world civil authorityof the ten kings is given to the papacy onlyrequires that we understand why and how thecivil authority was given to the papacy in thebeginning, for God identifies the end of a thingwith the beginning of a thing. What causedJustinian to identify the pope as the correctorof heretics was that his kingdom was beingdestroyed by the war trumpets of Revelationeight. There was also a religious argumenttaking place in the empire. Was the church inRome or Constantinople the pre-eminentChristian church? In the midst of this crisisJustinian wrote his decree and gave the popethe authority to identify even Justinian himselfas a heretic, thus surrendering the civilauthority to the pope of Rome.

In fulfillment of their role in Bibleprophecy, Islam is going to bring about anescalating crisis of warfare that will bring theworld to its knees. First it prepares the wayfor the Sunday law in the USA and then theUSA insists to the world that the only way thatthe problem of radical Islam can be resolvedis for the entire world to brought undersubjection of the United Nations, but to securethe deal—the pope of Rome will agree to sitas the moral authority of this three-fold union.Islam is the issue that provides the propheticlogic for the world-wide image of the beastto be forced upon the world.

Once all these prophetic characteristic ofIslam are identified it is very simple to pullthem all together and identify that onSeptember 11, 2001 the third woe arrived inhistory—marking the starting point for thesealing of the 144,000. Hope this helps in yourstudies. Jeff

Allshould bring into exercise the powers of the intellect, that they may clearly understand the different phasesof present truth, and especially the subjects of proph-ecy which were opened to us when the message ofChrist’s soon coming was first heralded.” Review andHerald, April 2, 1908.

“As we near the close of this world’s history, the prophecies relating to the last days especially de-mand our study. The last book of the New Testamentscriptures is full of truth that we need to understand.Satan has blinded the minds of many, so that they havebeen glad of any excuse for not making the Revelationtheir study. But Christ through His servant John hashere declared what shall be in the last days, and Hesays, ‘Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hearthe words of this prophecy, and keep those thingswhich are written therein.’ Revelation 1:3.” Christ’sObject Lessons, 133.

Keep About Your WorkThe Lord has given to every man his work.

It is his business to do it, and the devil’s business to hinder him if he can.So sure as God has given you a work to do, Satan will try to hinder you—

He may throw you from it;He may present other things more promising;

He may allure you by worldly prospects;He may assault you with slander;

Torment you with false accusations;Set you to work defending your character;

Employ pious persons to lie about you, and excellent men to slander you;You may have Pilate and Herod, Annas and Caiaphas all combined against you,

And Judas standing by you, ready to sell you for thirty pieces of silver; And you may wonder why all these things come upon you.

Can you not see that the whole thing is brought about through the craft of thedevil,

To draw you off from your work and hinder your obedience to God?Keep about your work—

Do not flinch because the lion roars;Do not stop to stone the devil’s dogs;

Do not fool away your time chasing the devil’s rabbits.Do your work.

Let liars lie; let sectarians quarrel; let corporations resolve; let editors publish; letthe devil do his worst;

—BUTSee to it that nothing hinders you from fulfilling the work that God has given you.

He has not sent you to make money. He has not commanded you to get rich.

He has never bidden you to defend your character. He has not set you at work to contradict falsehood which Satan and his servants

may start to peddle. If you do these things, you will do nothing else; you will work for yourself and not

for the Lord.Keep About Your Work—

Let your aim be steady as a star.Let the world brawl and bubble.

You may be assaulted, wronged, insulted, slandered, wounded, and rejected; You may be abused by foes, forsaken by friends and despised and rejected of

man;—BUT

See to it with steadfast determination, with unfaltering zeal,That you pursue the great purpose of your life and object of your being

Until at last you can say: “ I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do.”
