What are the entry requirements?All the courses on offer are demanding and we would expect participants to have completed a Leaving Certificate (or equivalent). Mature students are most welcome to apply. St Louis Community School reserve the right to call applicants for interview.

Garda vetting is required for all students on our sports, nursing, community care and childcare courses.

How do I apply?Directly to St Louis Community School. Completed Application forms should be returned to St Louis Community School, Kiltimagh, Co Mayo. Application forms may be downloaded from our website www.stlouiscs.com

What does it cost?A E50 non-returnable registration fee is payable by all students to secure a place. This is paid when accepting the offer of a place on a course at St Louis Community School. There are no tuition fees for Irish or EU Nationals but a E200 DES charge is payable at the start of the course and a E50 QQI (FETAC) certification fee is payable in March. Medical card holders are exempt from these charges. In addition some courses require a contribution towards consumables or for textbooks etc.See individual course details.

Student GrantsSupport is available to eligible students studying full-time Post Leaving Certificate Courses (PLC) in St Louis Community School. SUSI is the single Awarding Authority for all student grant applications. The online application system provides you with a quick, user friendly way to apply for your grant for 2014/2015. If you are thinking of embarking on a Further Education Course you should investigate whether you are eligible and, if so, submit an application. The website www.susi.ie is a comprehensive source of information on the student grant scheme and provides a handy step-by-step guide to eligibility and the grants process.

Access to Higher EducationA new scoring system for QQI/FETAC awards has applied to entry through CAO to higher education since 2013. Further information is available on the QQI (FETAC) website www.qqi.ie.

Business Studies with IT or Finance Focus.QQI (FETAC) Level 5 - 5M2102This course provides a general education in the Business Studies area, together with a specialised knowledge of Finance and or IT applications.

Specific Entry RequirementsNo additional requirements.

Course ContentAll students must choose a minimum of 2 from accounting & book keeping, marketing practice and business administration skills and then choose a minimum of 3 from word processing, spreadsheet methods, web authoring, database methods and payroll. All students study entrepreneurial skills and work experience.

QQI (FETAC) Level 6 - 6M5013This advanced; 1 year programme has been developed to enable the learner to acquire the required knowledge, skill and competence to work independently or in a supervisory capacity in an administrative role in the private, public or voluntary sector and or to progress to higher education or training. Learners who successfully complete the programme will develop their knowledge and understanding of the IT management process and acquire the skills necessary to function as productive users of computer systems.

The Nursing Studies course is structured to provide a foundation in the theory and practice of Health Science for graduates who intend to enter the nursing, paramedical or community care service.Graduates who have successfully completed the Nursing Studies Course are eligible for consideration for academic progression routes in Nursing and related Health Studies in Universities and Institutes of Technology in Ireland.
