BAG PICK-UPThe empty bag is picked up and opened bysuction cups. Suction is provided by a Venturior vacuum pump in the case of plastic and wovenpolypropylene bags.

FILLING SPOUTAND FORMING DEVICEFOR FLAT BAGS(BAG ALIGNER)The filling spout is adjustable for bags ofdifferent widths. Bag presence sensors ensurethat filling only takes place when the bag iscorrectly positioned. The forming device (bagaligner) is part of the filling spout and ensuresperfect alignment of the bag top. No adjustmentis required in case of variations in bag size.Dust guard baffles and dust extraction connectionsensure a dust-free environment during fillingoperations. The full bag is placed on the conveyorbelt ready for removal by a pneumatically operatedraising and lowering movement.As an optional extra, parts in contact with theproduct can be in stainless steel.

VERSION FORGUSSETED BAGSFor gusseted bags, the feedingsystem and the filling outlet areequipped with pneumaticgrippers which hold the gussetclosed, ensuring it keeps itsshape. The mouth of the bag isopened and the gusset is keptclosed by side grippers (A).After positioning at the fillingoutlet, the bag is kept with itsgussets closed and correctlyshaped (B).

PICK ANDPLACE ARMThe bag is picked up from the stack by thebag pick up arm, which moves in an arc toplace it onto the filling spout driven by a rod andcrank coupling. Precise high speed operation isguaranteed by the encoder controlled variablespeed motor.

The standard machine has a bag magazine for three stacks of bags, each 200 mm high. Empty bagscan be added at any time without stopping production. No adjustments are required for variations in baglength, while changes in width involve quick adjustment. If the supply of bags runs out, the machine stopsand the operator is alerted by a beeper and/or flashing warning lamp.

ELECTRICAL PANELThe electrical panel is accessible and mounted onboard of the machine to save space. Control is bymeans of PLC logic.

BAG TOP GRIPPER ANDTRANSFER CARRIAGE

CONVEYOR BELT

After filling, stretching and alignment, the bag isheld close to its mouth and transported by thetransfer carriage to the entry point of the dynamicconveyor (closing system). The gripper operatespneumatically, while carriage travel is mechanicallydriven (motor-reduction gear-chain) at a variablespeed electronically controlled by a programmablefrequency drive. No adjustment is necessary whenchanging bag sizes.

The full bag is transported on a motor drivenconveyor. Adjustment of the conveyor height iselectrical and automatic; during the switch fromone bag size to another, the height of the conveyoris controlled by an encoder.

TYPES OF CLOSING

CHOOSE FROM THE FOLLOWING OPTIONS DEPENDING ONTHE TYPE OF CLOSURE REQUIRED:

DYNAMIC CONVEYORA pair of chains guide the top edge of the bag intothe stitching or sealing unit. Drive is by means ofa variable speed drive for simple, immediate speedregulation and perfect synchronization with theother devices (belt and closing system).Depending on the options installed, this device isable to:• trim the top edge of the bag• fold the edge• fit the crepe paper cover tape.

SEALING BARSBags are sealed by means of two heated bars.Closure is pneumatic. The height and numberof sealing rods can easily be modified fromthe standard (2 rods each 7 mm thick).A labyrinth seal is used to extract the air frominside the bag.

BLOW-TYPE THREAD CUTTERAs an alternative to the thread scissors, a blowertype thread cutter can be used - compressed airblows the stitched thread between the cutter knives.

STITCHING HEADThe suitable stitching head for the type ofseam required and the specific application willbe recommended. Heads are manufactured byFischbein or Union Special.

THREAD SCISSORSAfter the stitching operation, the stitched threadchain is cut by a pair of pneumatic scissorsmounted outside the stitching head.

PT SEALINGWhen pinch top bags are to be handled, the Combibag filler is equipped with a system to:Fold over the top edge (A). The top of the bag,guided by a dynamic chain conveyor, is foldedover (with a pneumatically operated guide).Reactivate the glue (B). A bar sealer heated bythermostatically-controlled electric heatingelements, with a pneumatically operated closingmovement, reactivates the glue on the edge whichhas been folded over.Press and cool the top edge (C). After folding,the edge is pressed and cooled.

BAG TOP CLEANER FORHEAT SEALERWhen packing powdery products, the cleaningdevice is used to clean the inside of the bag andallow sealing. The bag mouth is opened while ablower nozzle enters it to remove any dust.The pneumatically operated system includesa dust extractor to trap the dust generated duringthe operation.

BAG TURNING GRIPPERA pneumatically operated gripper can be installedto turn full bags lengthwise in relation to the axis ofthe conveyor belt. This device grips the top of thebag and turns it 90°.

DPI SEALINGConventional paper bags can be sealed using thedouble fold and glue system. The Combi bag filleris equipped with a system to:Trim the top to level the edges (A). The top ofthe bag, guided by a dynamic chain conveyor, isfolded over; the offcut is discarded into a collectioncontainer.Double fold the top edge (B). The top of thebag, guided by a dynamic chain conveyor, is foldedtwice as it passes through two “propellers”.Apply the hot-melt glue (B). The hot-melt glueis applied using a hot-melt glue spraying device.Press and cool the top edge (C). After folding,the edge is pressed and cooled by means of amotor-driven belt conveyor.

FULL BAG TIPPERThe full bag, initially in the vertical position, is removedlengthwise, laying horizontal, thanks to the tipper whichchanges its position by 90 degrees. More specifically, thebag travels forward (upright) on the motor-driven rollerway. The deflector system, with motor-driven belts, is thenpneumatically raised and deflects the bag by 90 degrees,tipping it so that its bottom is pointing forward.

THREAD CONTROLAutomatic packing lines can include a system tocheck for thread breakage (or end of thread), whichstops the line if stitching does not take place.A similar device is also adopted for control of crepepaper (in case of CC - SOT - SOS seals).

The G-368-18-00 device is designedfor use with polypropylene

and/or fine polythene bags.The device separates eachbag and places it in thecorrect position in the pick -up area. This application

guarantees perfect handling,increasing performance and

reliability where bags are slippery anddifficult to control. Bags are picked up from

the pile (1), separated (2) and positioned beneath the pick and place grippers (3), (4).

VIBRATION DEVICEThe machine can be fitted with the following devicesfor products requiring vibration:• vibrating base (Figure A); a grid positioned between the conveyor rollers moves upwards and vibrates the bottom of the bag for a pre-set time. The grid is raised and lowered pneumatically.

The first part of the conveyor belt runs on motor-driven rollers in this application;

• alternatively, a vibrating lateral grid (Figure B) which vibrates the side of the bags.

The device, suitable for use with pre-printed, readycut labels, is designed to be combined with the mainstitching machine in order to attach labels to the bagmouth. Labels are stored in a special containerwhich holds approximately 600 labels at once. Thelabels are picked up individually by means ofsuction cups and transferred to the stitching head ona conveyor belt. The system is both straightforwardand reliable.The following size range of labels can be handled:• Width min. 150 mm - max. 200 mm• Height min. 90 mm - max. 150 mm• Weight min. 100 g/m2 - max. 120 g/m2
