Remembering the different learning resources that wehave observed in Saint Michael’s College BasicEducation campus is such an amazing feeling, amazingbecause somehow it shows me the real picture of whata learning environment really is. A learning

environmentthat is full of various learning resources such aslaboratories (computer, physics, chemistry, and etc.),learning centers, creativity areas, play rooms, and etc.that could respond to the aspirations of the learners

andteachers, develop learners’ skills and

Reflections

abilities (cognitive, psychomotor, and affective),and create psychological climate for the learnerswhich could support and help teachers to attaintheir intentions, goals, and objectives in order tohave a beneficial effect or successful learningoutcome. With these observations, I have come torealize that indeed learning resources have a greatimpact on students’ learning (growth anddevelopment) particularly to the elementarylearners for it could help them see, feel, manipulate, hear, and taste the concepts (frombasic to complicated things) that they deserve tolearn.

Reflections

Page 29: Fs 3 episode 1

And that as future educators, we need todiscover these things for we never know whereare we going to teach in the future (public orprivate) and somehow we could adapt it and findways and means to innovate it (in a cheaperway) in order to apply it in the future teachinglearning process because I believe that teachersare imaginative and creative in utilizing anyavailable instructional material, after all accordingto Hargreaves and Fullaw, “it is what teachersthink, what teachers do, and what teachers are …thatultimately shapes the kind of learning that youngpeople get”.

Filipina LiquiganUpon entering Saint Michaels College, I didn’texpect that this would be one of the unforgettableobservations that we have done ever since we havingour Field Study. The school was nice and wide that itmay occupy their enrollees there. They havelaboratories there for the students to perform in the

realscenario. They have their amazing library that they willuse when they have something to look for. Aside fromthose amazing views, we also observed classroom

whichenhances our knowledge and skills in teaching.

Reflections

Page 31: Fs 3 episode 1

I mean techniques that can be used in the nearfuture. As I go back to what we have observed, teacher should be creative and innovative that wehave to reuse that visual materials that we’ve beenusing in the past lesson. It is our responsibility to findout what is going on with the students in theclassroom, we have the opportunity to guidestudents’ discoveries, and learn a great deal in theprocess. Also one of the roles that a teacher carriesis to encourage students in the issues that botherthem about school in their personal life.

Reflections

Page 32: Fs 3 episode 1

It could make a big difference in the student’s life if

he/she is lift up to keep going and to not letanything put us down.

Honey Swiert Larayos

As my professors in English subjects would always say,

"We cannot teach what we don't have and what wedon't know. Student teachers who are likely to

becometeachers in the future should always put in their mindsthat learning always starts with the teacher." Uponreflecting to this idea and reminiscing the things wehave seen and experienced upon visiting the BasicEducation Department of Saint Michael's College, Icould say that, I'm way too excited to teach and yetthere are still lots of things that I need to know, tounderstand and apply. My college days were way toofast.

Reflections

Page 34: Fs 3 episode 1

Concepts and theories kept on adding up in myhead, yet I felt like something important is

lacking. Then I realized that I was craving for true to lifeexperiences, an application to the concepts ofteaching to the real classroom scenario. I find

fieldstudy subjects vital avenue for us student

teachersto see what our life would likely be if we pursueteaching as our profession. When I get to realize

theidea that learning starts with the teacher, I couldimagine the burden on my part as becoming onesomeday. I will be very honest to say that I’mliterate when it comes to computer use but when

itcomes to uploading videos, sound clips and

Reflections

making discussion in Prezi format, I find it verychallenging to do. I know that there are so manyThings that internet and advance technology of

the21st century could offer to the success of teachingLearning experience yet there is so much

learningand practicing that is left for me to do. I have tolearn, I have to adjust and I have to be proficientwith technology for I am soon to become ateacher. At SMC, during my high school years, Icould see that our teachers really loved their

workfor they don’t stop to where the book couldonly offer.

Reflections

Page 36: Fs 3 episode 1

I remembered that in our Economics class weSeldom stay in our classroom. Our EconomicsTeacher invited us to a field trip inside the school,we discussed under a tree. The setting may not befamiliar, but the important thing is we learned. When we give reports, we don’t present it inside theclassroom instead we proceed to the Audio VisualRoom and do the reporting with power pointpresentation. We even do role playing and talkshow for this subject. In our Filipino class our teachermade us draw our favorite chapters in ElFilibusterismo and then we present our work to theclass.

Reflections

Page 37: Fs 3 episode 1

I could only imagine how my teachers have comeinto those ideas, maybe because they were reallycreative and they are seeing effective avenues ofteaching beyond the classroom. And now, theschool never ceases to innovate the resources

thatthey have and update it with the latest trend intechnology. Especially in the primary years, pupilswill likely have greater retention to what is taught

tothem when teaching is presented in way that itcaptures their curiosity and attention and whensenses are used. That is why we have the idea

“funin learning.”

Reflections

Page 38: Fs 3 episode 1

In this way I could say that even though teachersare the best instructional media, still we cannotdeny the fact that teacher alone isn’t enough, weneed the different learning avenues that learningresources could offer. Some concepts and contentsin the subjects we are teaching needsdemonstration, graphical and auditoryrepresentation to make teaching and learningeasier. Now the bottom line of all the things I haveRealized on that day is this, “Teachers, being thecatalyst of learning should see teaching beyond the things provided to them.”

Reflections

Page 39: Fs 3 episode 1

As future teachers, we should seek or even makeopportunities to make learning become fun-filled andrelevant to our learners. As productive mentors it isimportant for us to know our learners and take note oftheir weaknesses and strengths in order for us todevelop lesson plans and use instructional materialsthat will fit to the kind of learners that we have. Weshould always remember that the learning resourcesthat each school provides is intended for betterlearning of the students, we should use it and make thebest of the things that it could offer. If ever we face ascenario of limited resources then it is our responsibilityto indulge our mind into creative and productivethinking for us to develop learning aids from availableresources.;)

Nasphia Malawani"Learning starts with the teachers." This is the

phrase that we should not forget as a futureeducator. As an education student we havelearned that teaching profession is not that easy, that teacher is the most crucial role, and thatteacher is a character and education builder.Visiting or shall we say observing the BasicEducation Department in St. Michaels Collegeshows the real picture of my dream school. Theyhave lots of updated learning resources that helpThe teachers and learners make schooling life

easy.

Reflections

Page 41: Fs 3 episode 1

But in a real life situation majority of the schoolshere in Philippines don't have such learningresources. Visiting the school does not justintroduce me the learning resources and its use

butalso somehow shows me the difference betweenpublic and private school. It warned me thatpublic is far low tech to that private school. It

mademe realize that being flexible, imaginative, creative, and resourceful is all what we need tohave learning resources that can be competed tothe other high tech gadgets/learning resources.

Reflections

Page 42: Fs 3 episode 1

We can recycle and innovate things, and we canuse real objects that can be seen in ourenvironment. There’s a lot of way of makinglearning resources for the learners to meet theobjectives of a lesson. I believe that teachers don’thave the right to reason out that he/she is not aneffective teacher just because of lack of learningresources.
