Happy children with a world full of opportunities
From W.P.S 17th December ‘18
Welcome to our new look weekly update, The Update. We’ve made some small changes
based on feedback from parents. We will now put more information directly on The
Update, but continue with links just in case you would still like more information. The links
will now point to just PDFs which seem to work on any device, unlike the Word versions
we used previously. Feedback is really important to us, if you have any feedback on The
Update, please complete the form by clicking here.
The top box is new information, followed by this week’s events. You can find all future
events on our website. We have attached a date sheet for the whole year, at the bottom
of this newsletter. This is a sheet of most dates, for most aspects of school. If it’s highlighted
yellow, it has changed sine we last sent it out.
Attendance and Star Of The Week are now on our website – click the links to see the
page.
Towards the bottom of The Update you will find a reminders box. This is for anything that
has been in a copy of The Update, but hasn’t yet passed. It will remain down here until it
has so you can easily find information.
Remember that school breaks up this week on Thursday. We wish you a Happy Christmas,
and we will see you in the New Year.

Curriculum and
homework
By the end of this week the curriculum section of our
website will be changed to reflect next term’s topics.
Please have a look as it will make it explicit what
your child is learning, and how. If you are out and
about over the holidays or following weekends and
want to do a piece of work based around your
child’s learning, this should help. (On the website

Happy children with a world full of opportunities
Dear Parent/Carer
Re: School parking
West Yorkshire Police and Bradford Council are committed to improving driving and parking standards around our
schools ensuring the safety of all.
We receive a high number of complaints of inconsiderate and dangerous parking around schools. Examples
include parking on pavements, causing obstructions, blocking driveways, parking on double yellow lines, parking
where there are double white lines in the centre of the road, and allowing children to exit vehicles whilst stopped
on School Keep Clear ‘zig-zags’ or in queuing traffic. There have even been instances of abusive and threatening
behaviour by parents and carers. This behaviour and standard of driving and parking are wholly unacceptable and
most importantly put your children’s safety at risk.
We request that you adhere to the following;
Do not park or drop off on the ‘Keep Clear’ school zig zags markings
Do not park on double yellow lines or where there are double white lines in the centre of the road
Adhere to local parking restrictions

Do not block pavements, driveways or pedestrian access
Turn off the vehicle engine when parked – this creates an unpleasant and unhealthy environment for pedestrians and releases harmful emissions
Behave in a manner that is respectful towards others – including pedestrians and local residents. Drivers found committing the above offences place themselves at risk of being prosecuted/issued tickets by both Council Wardens and Police. If it is necessary to use a vehicle to drop your child off then we request that you allow extra time in order to park and drop off safely and legally. We request your cooperation in this matter in order to improve standards and ultimately keep school children safe. Sgt Andrew Rollett Shipley Neighbourhood Policing Team
