The followning behaviours will be our focus for Weeks 7, 8 and 9 of Term 4:

Week 7 Use kind words

Week 8 Be prepared

Week 9 Be an active listener

Every time a student is seen using these behaviours in Week 7, 8 and 9, they will receive a class dollar to go towards buying from the prize box. Our aim is to reinforce our students consistent positive attitude towards school and their learning.

We would love if parents, guardians and the community would help in encouraging these postive behaviours, outside of school. The PBL focus is also displayed on the noticeboard in town.

We would also like to congratulate the students who earned enough classroom dollars to shop this fortnight. Keep up the great effort everybody

Melbourne cup celebrations

As a part of the HASS curriculum, students are required to identify different celebrations that

occur within their families, community, nationally and internationally. This year, we

supported their understanding in cultural celebrations by identifying the Melbourne Cup as an

event that is celebrated nationally. We drew names out of a hat for horses (chance and data

for maths) and then students were able to create fascinators or ties to wear to the local

Melbourne Cup celebrations. This reinforced that when people celebrate, there are

commonalities eg dressing up, decorations, joining together with friends, food and drink. Eulo

State School students showed exemplary behaviour whilst down town, and looked very spiffy

in their created finery. Winners of our sweepstake were Miss Aish, Jamie and Isla, who

received their chocolate prize on our “dress as a book character” day.

BIRTHDAYS

Happy birthday, Roh. Keep

weaving your magic. We are

looking forward to celebrating

with you next year, too.

World Teacher Day

Aish and I were very appreciative of

the acknowledgement of us for

World Teachers Day. We love our

jobs. Working with children is one of

those occupations you do out of

love. So thank you once again for

our presentation.

BOOK FAIR

After a few hic-ups to get set up, our

book fair ran quite smoothly. Thank you

for all those who supported the fair. I

hope you and your children enjoy the

books that you purchased. To help

celebrate reading, we held a “dress as

your favourite book character” day. All

children who participated, received a $5

gift voucher from Scholastic, to spend at

the fair.

It was wonderful to see the enthusiasm

of children towards reading, in the fair

and thank you to all the staff who

dressed up with the kids. It makes

learning fun, when staff join in.

KINDY

Our Kindy program has included our Kindies signing in each day. They are

beginning to gain confidence in writing the first letter of their names, and

recognising their letter as special to them.

finished product, after seeing how cream separates to form butter and butter

They have continued working

hard in the school play, and are

really enjoying the songs,

dancing and performing.

Our Kindies are also becoming

adept at helping to put away toys

cooperatively and with guidence,

are using their words to join in

games and ask for help.

Joining in at the “mud pit”

The newest play area to be intorduced at school is the “Mud Pit”. Thank

you to the Paroo Shire Council for the donation of digging sand and rocks

to help enhance the play space. Our Kindies have been joining in with all

grades (K-Yr6) to create roads, cubbies, sand castles and much more.

This play space encourages children to develop their oral language and

social skills through imaginative role playing and the need to share and co-

operate with others.

Even with all the things to choose from,

playdough is still a massive favourite with

our little people. It is also a handy avenue

to practise fine motor control for

activities like snipping, cutting, rolling, and

finger, hand and arm muscle development!

The Kindies and Preps also got to

work with Miss Nothling, our

Guidence Officer, who

enthusiastically engaged the group,

making playdough. The children

disucssed what changes occurred to

the ingredients for playdough

happen.

KINDY ORIENTATION VISITS

Eulo State School will be holding three Kindy orientation visits at the end of the term. These will

occur on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday (4th – 6th December) from 8:30am – 10:30am.

Parents wishing to take the opportunity to for their children to visit the classroom, may do so

during this time. Parents will be welcome to drop their children into the classroom and then

utilise our library and cool room to browse and have a cuppa. If you have any questions, I will be

available at morning tea to answer them, or to have a chat.

ENROLEMENTS and REGISTRATION for 2019

Eulo State School enrolments and Kindy registrations are occurring now. If you would like to

enrol in Prep to Year 6, or register for our Remote Kindy program, please contact the school

(07 4655 4898 or [email protected] ) for an enrolment pack, and make a time for an

enrolment/registration interview.

If you are interested in accessing the Eulo Hostel, please put in a written expression of interest

to the Hostel Association secretary at [email protected]

If you are aware of anyone interested in enrolling at Eulo, please forward them this newsletter, so

they have our contact details.

Due to the disappearance of the District

Athletics Aggregate trophy, Eulo State School

has purchased a new shield, that we have had

engraved to account for the past two years.

It was with great pleasure that we recently

presented it to the Year 3-6 students, whose

efforts at the Athletics Carnival made it possible

for us to win this trophy two years in a row.

Great participation, kids!

We will take this trophy to next year’s carnival

so that it can be awarded to next year’s

aggregate winner.

As the end of the year closes in, everyone attending playgroup has been given the

opportunity to plan their own morning deciding upon activities that they enjoy doing.

The children then break into small groups and, with adult help, collect all the

equipment they will need to do this activity. The children have then been starting off

on their preferred activity, and as they finish it, move onto something else.

Thank you to the parents, grandparents and staff who help to make this style of

planning possible. It is a fabulous way for young children to build autonomy and

have a voice.
