MRS VIOLI - ITALIAN

Stage 2 classes have been writing their own summaries of the Little Red Car’s race around Italy. We did some modelled writing together to begin with and then each student wrote their own summary in Italian. I was blown away by some of the amazing work done by the students! Amazing work! Well done to everyone! Next term we will be starting their research projects on a city of their choice that the Little Red Car visited. They will be working in pairs to work on these and present them as they choose. I’m really looking forward to reading them when they are finished.

Stage 3 classes are finalising their work on our school unit, by learning to ask each other for different equipment, like a pen, pencil or ruler. They will also learn to answer questions about specific objects and describe them by their colour. This will finalise our unit, ready to start a new unit next term about food. I’d like to take this opportunity to wish all families a safe and happy holiday. NAIDOC PERFORMANCE We will be having an aboriginal performer visiting our school on Wednesday, 24th July (first week of next term). A note will be coming home today with the eldest child in the family for this performance. Please check your child’s bag for this as money and notes must be in by next Friday. No late notes or money will be accepted after this date. Reviews from other schools have been very positive and encouraging. This will tie in with other NAIDOC activities taking place in classes.

3/4DM - MRS D’AQUINO/MISS MCGREAL

STAFF CAR PARK

This is a gentle reminder regarding parents and children using the staff car park as an entrance or exit to our school. It is very dangerous as staff who may be reversing may not see people who are walking behind. Staff have voiced their concerns regarding the number of parents and students who continue to use this. PLEASE DO NOT USE THE CAR PARK AS A PEDESTRIAN ACCESS. There are two gates with footpaths for safe entry and exit to our school on School St. These are at the bus stop and beside the hall.

We have been busy in the Tech Centre researching native Australian and Indonesian animals. We have also researched the natural resources and vegetation of these countries and then compared and contrasted them. We have put this information into PowerPoint presentations which we have been working on over the past few weeks. We have done all the researching ourselves and brainstormed key words or phrases that we thought would help us find the most accurate information. We worked together and helped each other to find the best images to include. This information will also be presented as a poster and will be displayed in our classroom. So far they look amazing! As part of Refugee week we watched some BTN episodes about the refugee experience. We collaborated our information and knowledge and have created acrostic poems to display our work.

1/2C - MRS CASTELLARO

Parks, memorials and significant sites This first photo shows our school’s sculpture that celebrates 100 years of our school existence. This term Stage1 have been looking at parks and memorials and significant sites within our community. We think this is very significant for our school and we love it! Maths, Mass and length! The other photos are showing the activities Stage 1 has been doing in Maths. We have been using equal arm balances and comparing the mass of different objects within our classroom. We have also been studying patterns and algebra. We have been demonstrating our understanding of length by using unifix cubes to measure lengths around the room.
