Kalinda Primary School’s Vision Statement A learning community with shared values, fostering a life-long love

of learning through meaningful experiences, to embrace a constantly changing society.

From the Principal…………..

Reports On the 19

th November I sent a letter home to all families regarding the school

reports and the industrial bans. Reports will go home to families on Friday 14th

December. A reminder that some students will not have written comments on their reports. However, all teachers will make time available during the last week of school for families to have a meeting time to explain the reports and go over their child’s work. Please make an appointment with your child’s teacher if you wish to have a meeting. There is so much happening around the school at the moment! Leading up to the end of the year we often get comments such as ‘I suppose you are winding down now’. This is certainly not the case! Primary schools are very busy but exciting places at this point in time.

Level 2 Toy Expo The most special activities are, of course, those that involve our students. Last week many parents visited the Level 2 Toy Expo. The children were thrilled to see so many visitors. They answered questions confidently and explained what they had learnt through the making of the toys. Thank you for sharing your learning with us Level 2!

Carols Night Our Carols night will be Monday week, the 17

th December. We are looking forward to a lovely

evening with all our students participating. It will be the last whole school event for our Year 6 students so it will be very special for them. The Carols will begin at 6.30pm when we will ask all students to sit with their peers within the roped off area in front of the stage. Families are invited to bring a picnic from 5.30pm. This year there will be a sausage sizzle available by pre-order (the notice went home yesterday). A reminder that Carols night is ALCOHOL FREE. Also all students must be accompanied by a responsible adult and that adult is responsible for the supervision of that child. This will ensure that everything runs smoothly without incident.

Graduation Year 6 Graduation will be held on Wednesday 19

th December. This will be the first time we hold

Graduation in our stadium. We have an incredible Graduation Team organising the event with all the trimmings. A mighty ‘Thank You’ in advance to this great team that has been planning for the whole year. Much more will be said after the event. GAIL POLLARD PRINCIPAL

My day at the Orchard. We went in a car with Mrs Pollard to the fruit farm. We picked some peaches, we ate some too. Then we came back to school and then we went home. I had fun. Harry 1/2M On Tuesday I went to the stone fruit farm. I tried some of the fruit. One tasted like an apple but it was a special type of nectarine. We cut peaches up with a plastic knife and then we put them in a jar with some berries and crushed them up. They will be ready to eat by Christmas. The best of the day was riding in the tractor, we sat in the back which had a roof. Nate 1/2C

We were lucky enough to ride on a tractor that went all around the fields. We stopped and got off down in the field and picked some fruit. We got to try some peaches, donut peaches, plums and lots of other stone fruit. The fruit was really fresh because it came straight off the trees and into our mouths. Lachlan 5/6R I went in Cheryl’s car to go to Rayners Stone fruit Orchard. First we ate our brain food and then we cut up some fruit and put them into jars with raspberries and syrup. The ladies put them into a boiler and they will be ready to eat at Christmas time. Luke 5/6R On Tuesday I went to Rayners Orchard Farm. First we looked at the big machines in the shed. They washed and sorted the fruit ready to put into the boxes. After that we went on at tractor ride all over the farm. It was a great day. Georgia 5/6R

Japanese Day

On Friday, 7

th December, it is Kalinda’s Japanese Day. It is a whole school event.

The whole school will be divided into Aka (Red) and Shiro (White) teams. This year, whole classes will be put in one team colour. However, something from Japanese anime characters or symbols in other colours is OK such as Pokémon yellow shirts and hello kitty orange shirts! Please help to find team colour clothes such as a red shirt, red belt, red head band, white karate cloth, white socks, or a white ribbon(s). Other options are; something from a Japanese animation or cartoon, Japanese sports players, an origami necklace, a ninja costume, or even a kimono in any colour.
