TRANSCRIPT
I hope you had a great week.
What a blessing it was to see so many familiar faces (behind the mask) last Sunday at our outdoor Masses. The weather cleared beautifully with a little wind… ok a bit of wind, yet we were there giv-ing witness to our faith. Thank you
to the Parish Team for preparing and distributing the light refreshments to parishioners as they headed back to their cars after Mass.
Thank you to Jessica Smihal for gathering our Little Lambs by the gazebo before 11:00 Mass, how great it was to have them present again, a sweet reminder of days gone by but also a spark of hope too for the future. And finally, once again, we wish Charlie Arnett many blessings in his retirement.
We will continue our Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday outdoor Masses into the fall, weather permitting. Please keep your outdoor chairs ready in the trunk of your car.
LAST DAYS OF SUMMEROn Tuesday, September 22, summer officially ends and fall begins. We already are seeing some of the signs, leaves changing color and to dropping from their branches, temperature dipping into the 50’s at night, pumpkins appearing on our porches, and of course we move our clocks back. Fall also brings some wonderful holidays, including Halloween, and Thanksgiving. We have a full menu of spiritual enrich-ment programs coming up as well as few parish so-cial gatherings ahead of us too. Last week’s bulletin insert, which can be viewed on our website, provides detailed information about our programs. Please take some time and see the many opportunities to join us for activities, spiritual nourishment, and faith growth.
PARISH RENOVATIONS Ready, Set, Stop! Yes, this seems to describe our reno-vation project. I am pleased to announce we have the green light to move forward. Renovation of the
lower level restrooms will begin soon. With limited ac-tivity in the building, hopefully all will go smoothly. If you have any questions please contact the Chair of our renovation committee Fritz Schaible at [email protected] or any other member of the committee: Ann Baxter, Marion Fikany, Tony Greco, John McGrail, or Mike McDevitt.
MUSIC MINISTRYTwo weeks ago, David Troiano, Ron Kotz, Dan Piepszowski, and Mark Fikany met to discuss how our Music Ministry can more engaging in our fall celebra-tions. Beginning Sunday, September 27, additional music will complement our services. Limited choir members will return to the 9:00 am Mass. At 4:00 pm and 11:00 am a cantor will accompany the organ/piano. We will also resume the Sunday 5:00 pm Mass on September 27.
SAINTS OF THE WEEKWednesday, 9/23 – St. Pio of Piertrelcina, also known as Padre Pio (1887 – 1968), was an Italian friar, priest, confessor, stigmatist and mystic.
COLLECTION FOR THE MICHAELITE FATHERSOn Tuesday, September 29, our 6:30 evening Mass, will celebrate the feast of the Archangels. This is the day the Michaelite Congrega-tion to which Fr. Tom and I belong, will begin its Centennial Year. This is a special day for the Michaelite Fathers (C.S.M.A.), as we cele-brate our patron saint, St. Michael the Archangel. C.S.M.A. stands for the Congregation of St. Michael the Archangel. Say a prayer for us and the members of our community to be good followers of St. Michael and good priests according to God’s heart. Thank you for all your generous donations to the cause of our community, especially our seminary.
Have a blessed weekend,

FAITH FORMATION
Children’s Faith Formation: Classes will
begin on October 4. If you have not
registered your child or children,
please do so today. I would like to or-
der materials by tomorrow, September
21, so we have them here by our start
date. Go to www.stclarem.org, edu-
cation and formation. There is a Regis-
tration form and a medical release
form. Please fill out both.
Classes will be held in person in our social hall after the
9:00 Mass, from 10-11. We will do our best to adhere to
all safety regulations: children must wear masks and
keep six feet apart. Teachers will be sure to keep the
space sanitized. Children will be dismissed by grade lev-
els. Parents will then gather by the pews in front of the
tabernacle. Matt Rigotti and Patty Kaufman will lead
the adult group. (I originally invited parents to go to the
social hall with their child but the AOD directions say,
“no adults.”) So, I would like all parents and any other
adults to join the group after Mass by the tabernacle.
We will do our utmost to keep your children safe.
To parents who choose to work with your child at home,
we will distribute the materials to you and give you all
the help you need. There is a wealth of information and
ideas on the Pflaum Weeklies website to help catechists,
parents, and anyone who is interested. Catechists will
reach out to your family sometime during the week.
If you have any questions please reach out to me at
RCIA: Anyone interested in joining the Catholic Faith or
relearning about our faith? Contact Sr. Kathy. Do not
forget, you are the most important people in the evan-
gelization department. Invite; bring him/her to church,
ask if they are interested in learning about the church.
ADULT FAITH FORMATION: This year we are striving to es-
tablish small faith formation sharing groups. The commit-
tee will set up a program for the next couple of months,
with suggestions of questions and a meeting time to get
together for praise and worship, a witness talk and gen-
eral sharing. But you are also free to choose your own
program and decide when and how you would like to
meet-in a home or via ZOOM or another method. Keep
checking the bulletin and website for details.
“Our mission of sharing Christ’s saving Word must contin-
ue. In these difficult days we are called to bring to our
families, neighborhoods, and workplaces the kind of
hope that does not disappoint. We have been sent by
Christ to be his light in the world. In the words of Pope
Benedict XVI, “What the world needs is God’s love; it
needs to encounter Christ and to believe in him.” We
need your support to continue our mission. It is through
your kindness and generosity that we are able to meet
the needs of individuals and families in our communities,
parishes, and schools. Hundreds of thousands of lives are
impacted every year by the programs and ministries
sponsored by the Catholic Services Appeal. We must
continue to bring Christ to those lives. Would you prayer-
fully consider your support and possibly increase it on
behalf of those who are not able to do so this year?” —

St. Clare School Play
Sunset Yoga at St. Clare will take place on Wednes-
day, September 30 outside on the front lawn of St.
Clare Church. The goal of Sunset Yoga at St. Clare is to

tion at St. Clare School -- and in person athletic com-
petitions at St. Clare's gym during the COVID-19 pan-
demic.
Registration will begin at 6:00 pm and yoga will begin
promptly at 6:30 pm, ending by 7:30 pm. Registration
will be located outside the Austin Portico/parking lot
church entrance. After registration, feel free to grab a
spot on the grass, where there will be taped X's that
are six-feet apart for physical distancing.

It was nice to see some of you at the
9:00 Mass last Sunday. I only wish we
could share some social time together
where we could chat about the good
news happening at the school. The
young people are to be applauded
for their continued excellent behavior
and spirit as they operate in their lim-
ited daily cohort groups.
STAR testing wrapped up with all of our stu-
dents this week. Even the Distant Learners
came up to school to take their assessments.
Results are received immediately. We no
longer need to wait months and wonder
how the students performed. Data from test-
ing this week is being used right now as
teachers create lessons to best meet the
unique needs of each of their students. That
new Technology Lab is really getting a work
out. We are blessed to have it.
Wednesday evening the teachers met with classroom
parents to share expectations for their students and
how the first few weeks of school were going. Parents
were able to ask questions and see the teachers with-
out their facemasks on finally. The virtual world provid-
ed this possibility.
Teachers are all on board troubleshooting through
Google Classroom on Fridays with the students. Parents
of our youngest learners are getting in there too, assist-
ing their little people as they learn to connect with their
teachers Four days face to face is great. Five would
be preferred and easier but we face that digital chal-
lenge. Students will always be prepared and exposed
to all facets of obtaining education including in the
digital world.
This Friday we had our first Children’s Mass
with Father Andrew. Keeping safety in mind,
the Mass was celebrated via Facebook live.
Our eighth grade provided the readings and
the petitions. Many families joined the service
which can still be viewed on the school and
parish website.
We move onto another exciting week in the
school. Monday is School Photo Day. Thurs-
day the students celebrate the Principal’s Summer
Reading Challenge. Photos will follow in next weeks
bulletin. All is good at your school. Thank you parish-
ioners for your continuous support.
Peace, safe health, and love sent your way,
Principal
ST. CLARE SCHOOL
We welcomed back our students with an unusual start to
the new school year. The cement outside of St. Clare
was painted with different colored stars to designate
where students would stand with their classmates and
still be socially distant.
Mrs. Conlan can be seen every morning wearing her
white HAZMAT suit, facemask
and face shield. She and other
administrators greet students
each day with a temperature
gun in hand!
Each grade is assigned a spe-
cific school door to enter and
leave the building. Once in-
side the building, red, blue
and yellow X’s mark the hall
floors to remind students of so-
cial distance. Children, teach-
ers and administrators all wear
facemasks throughout the
school day. Classes remain socially distant and do not
intermix for recess or lunch.
The kindergarten and preschool classrooms have Plexi-
glas shields as added protection for our youngest stu-
dents. Yet, in spite of all these precautions, children are
still children! Behind the stylish masks, I often notice smil-
ing eyes and hear soft giggles.
Lots of learning is going on! Teachers have become
more creative. Students and teachers alike are adapt-
ing to the many
changes required to
keep us safe. This has
become the new
normal for St. Clare
School. I know this
will be a great school
year!
