Dear Parents

This was our end of Term 2 outing and we went to the Esplanade Theatre to catch this play…

It was a fun experience as the children as sat through the play….

Another surprise for the

children

Aunty San San was an ex-Kindy mother. Her son Zave graduated in 2015.

It was great to have her back in Kindy and some of the Peace children (who were in Love class then)

could still remember her!

The children had a good time listening to her tell stories in both English and Chinese!

For the Joy & Peace class, we have concluded our curriculum for Term 2.

The final 2 weeks of each Term are spent on catching up on outstanding work and revision.

English Language & Literacy

- Phonics

Peace:

a) Long vowel sound ‘ i ’ . Read short and long vowel ‘ i ‘ words (fish, pig, lip // bike. light, fire)

b) Worksheet – 3 sections :

i) Say the name of each picture and connect the picture with the long ‘ i ‘ sound to the letter in the centre

ii) Circle words with the long ‘ i ‘ sound

iii) Draw a picture with a long ‘ i ‘ sound and write a word with the long ‘ i ‘ sound

Joy:

a) Revision of letter sounds and short CVC words

b) Activity: A letter is attached to each sum. Solve the sum and look for the answer on the floor to decode a

secret message!

b) Activity: Form their own addition sums: choose a number from (0-4), and then a number from (5-9), add

them up and write the answer.

Activity: Equation hunt! With the number tile given, look for correct equation which answer matches the

number tile.

Love 1 & 2

The Love children attempted some Visual-Coordination Training to improve their agility and coordination!

Rules: only one foot can be in one hoops at any point in time.

The hoops were placed in a zigzag manner on the ground. The children were challenged to alternate their steps

as the run through the hoops.

It took a while for the many to get used to it!

Catching! The Love 2 children love to try catching up to their friends before them!

When the hoops were placed side by side, the children were required to jump into the hoops,

with one feet landing in each hoop.

To further challenge them, the 2 pairs of hoops were placed side by side

and the rest were placed in a zigzag manner.

The children were tasked to jump through 2 pairs of hoops, then run through the rest of the hoops.

Some were a little confused along the way!

Peace

After a practice of their throwing and catching skills, the Peace children learned a new game:

Captain’s ball!

Rules:

- When you are holding on to the ball, you are not allowed to move

- Pass the ball to your teammates using an overhead pass or a chest pass

- Captains are not allowed to leave their post (they are standing in a hoop)

The teams were divided into (a) tucked in, and (b) tucked out… and off they went!
