Common Essay Errors1. Too brief; Not enough development; needs
more examples/details.2. “In this essay ….” – Don’t use!3. “In conclusion, ……” – Don’t use!4. Don’t use “I” in an essay.5. Stick to the Task.6. Write on the back of your loose leaf paper!7. ANALYZE more than you DESCRIBE.8. USE YOUR OUTLINE!
Essays: “Peer Reviewing”• You were given an essay which is not your own.• Complete the entire Peer Editing handout based
on the essay you were given.• You are to read/evaluate the essay you were given
and score it according to the grading rubric (0-5).• Be as honest as you can (if you do not give a
serious score, your own score will be deducted the difference of points).
• Write at least five comments (on the handout) for the essay based on the rubric (ex: needs more development, more descriptive than analytical, etc.)
