FRIDAY FLYER july 6th, 2018 FRIDAY FLYER KEY STAGE 1 NEWS After the joy of sports day and the sponsored walk Base 1 got back to The Train Ride, the story they had started learning about. In Literacy they have been retelling the story and creating their own narrative by using the story as a starting point but changing the vehi- cle. In Maths children have been learning about time. We have learnt about the days of the week and months of the year through song and ordering activities. Children have also been learning about the hour on a clock. As part of this learning they explored what ac- tivities they could do in a minute. In their worked linked to the Train Ride they used the small world picture cards from the story to order and then direct their Bee Bot through, pretending he was a train. Plus Base 1 continue to do the daily mile and enjoy the time they get to spend with the rest of the school. This week base 2 have been writing their own diary. FRIDAY FLYER

KEY STAGE 1 NEWS

After the joy of sports day and the sponsored walk Base 1 got back to The Train Ride, the story they had started learning about. In Literacy they have been retelling the story and creating their own narrative by using the story as a starting point but changing the vehi-cle. In Maths children have been learning about time. We have learnt about the days of the week and months of the year through song and ordering activities. Children have also been learning about the hour on a clock. As part of this learning they explored what ac-tivities they could do in a minute. In their worked linked to the Train Ride they used the small world picture cards from the story to order and then direct their Bee Bot through, pretending he was a train. Plus Base 1 continue to do the daily mile and enjoy the time they get to spend with the rest of the school.

Governors Corner Teagues Bridge Primary School governors’ sole purpose is to make sure our school is constantly improving for all our pupils. Recently we carried out a thorough ‘learning walk’ around the school and we are delighted to be able to report that we found: Your children learn in a safe, friendly and happy environment. Their behaviour, on the whole, is a credit to you! Polite, positive and well-behaved children and our effective and consistent approach to any challenging behaviour, ensures that we have an excellent platform for learning. Class themes are stimulating and engaging. Classrooms are bright, vibrant place with exciting and interactive displays and lots of evidence of children’s hard work. Any ideas we had for tweeks of improvement (such as new furniture in places) have been agreed by Mrs Abdulla and relayed to all the teaching staff, who have acted on them immediately. We have also worked with the children to develop a clear, child-friendly school vision (for the future of our school) driven by our passionate commitment for quality and safety. The children listened attentively, were so enthusiastic and made super, colourful creative posters. We can tell you, it was a delight to see!

The Governors

Things to talk about at home…

Do you think you should be allowed to eat whatever you like? What age do you think children should get choose their own food?

Do you think that until you are able to make your own choices about what you eat, your parents should be in charge, or do you think it’s fair for the government to ban certain food if they are very unhealthy?

Celebrity chef, Jamie Oliver, has said he’d like the government to ban children’s characters on cereals that are high in sugar, do you think this is a good idea?

New proposals to try to increase healthy eating for children and to halve childhood obesity, recently announced today by Health and Social Care Secretary Jeremy Hunt, build on the existing work to try to help families make healthier food choices.
