Can I use my 2017 login details?

Yes. You will be able to use your existing login details. Just enter your username and password, and you are goodto go.

Can I enter again this year, even though I applied or was nominated last year?

The rules state that you may only be nominated once for a training contract. This means that you cannot benominated for the same apprenticeship, traineeship or vocational course twice.

If you have progressed to the next level in your training, you can be nominated again. For example:

You were nominated for the 2017 NSW Trainee of the Year as you did a traineeship in Certificate III in Business. You have since completed this traineeship and progressed to a Certificate IV in Business (Legal Administration). You can be nominated for the 2018 NSW Trainee of the Year as it is a different training contract.

You were nominated for the 2017 NSW School-based Apprentice of the Year Award (you were in Year 12 then). You are now due to complete your apprenticeship in March 2018. You can be nominated for the 2018 NSW

Apprentice of the Year as this is a different category.

For the VET Trainer/Teacher of the Year Award, the rules differ slightly. Winners of the 2017 regional VETTrainer/Teacher of the Year cannot be nominated in 2018.

Organisations can apply again each year, as long as they meet the eligibility criteria.

I completed my training contract sooner than expected, can I still be nominated?

Competency based completion (often referred to as "early completion") is a great thing. In general, it means thatyou excelled at your trade or vocation and that you picked up the skills required a lot quicker than anticipated.

The eligibility criteria speak of specific time frames. For 2018, the completion date of the training must fallbetween 1 October 2017 and 30 September 2018.

We allow you to be nominated if you complete your actual completion date of your training (as mentioned on theapproval letter from Training Services NSW for apprentices and trainees) or on your expected completion date onthe documentation from the training provider (for vocational students).

Note that if you are an apprentice or trainee and you are applying for competency based completion, you mustlodge the application form [Pdf] before entering the 2018 NSW Training Awards.

If you completed earlier than this or have any questions, contact us.

I finished my training contract & have moved to a new employer, can I still be nominated?

Yes, you can be nominated by your previous employer or by your training provider.

If your new employer was not part of the training contract, we cannot accept a nomination from them. If youtransferred to this employer before completing your training contract, you can be nominated by them.
