Sherrie Maricle will present a Drumset Clinic on Friday, September 10 at 6:30 p.m. in Bingham-ton High School’s Black Box Theatre. First Round USArtists International Grant Applica-tion Deadline Tuesday, September 7, 2010. USAr-tists International provides support for American dance, music, and theater ensembles and solo artists invited to perform at significant interna-tional festivals or engagements that represent extraordinary career opportunities anywhere in the world outside the United States and its terri-tories. The application deadline for the first grant round of the 2011 program will be Tues-day, September 7, 2010 for projects taking place between November 1, 2010 and October 31, 2011. This is a receipt deadline. For a copy of pro-gram guidelines and application, go to www.midatlanticarts.org, look under Funding for Presenting, Touring and Exhibiting, then for USAr-tists International. Don’t forget that October 1st is the deadline for Decentralization (DEC) and Artist-->Crossroads grants administered by the ARTS Council of the Southern Finger Lakes for 2011. Applications and guidelines can be found at www.eARTS.org.

Strategic Opportunity Stipends (SOS) provides grants designed to help individual artists of all disciplines take advantage of specific, unique opportunities that will significantly benefit their work or career. These are $200-$1500 grants for forthcoming opportunities (not necessarily pro-jects) that are distinct from an artist's ongoing work. The next deadline is September 24, 2010. This deadline is for opportunities occurring be-tween November 1, 2010 and May 30, 2011. Applicants must be at least 18 years old and a full-time resident for the past year of one of the participating New York State counties - Broome, Chemung, Schuyler, Steuben, Tioga and Tomp-kins Applicants cannot be enrolled in a graduate or undergraduate degree program at the time of application. Complete the application by downloading the PDF at NYFA.org. Submit the application to your regional SOS administrator - The ARTS Council of the Southern Finger Lakes. The Black Cat Gallery, located at 179 Front Street in Owego, NY, is featuring textile artist Carolyn Campbell for the month of September. Carolyn Campbell has been making a variety of functional, quilted items for many years. Colorful is her trademark. Her work is sure to inspire your own creativity with fabric, needle and thread. Carolyn will be demonstrating her craft at the Art Walk on Friday, September 17th from 5-8. The Black Cat has a large variety of visual art, textiles, jewelry and other creative work at the Front Street loca-tion. An exhibition of artworks by Allen Crittenden Smith is at the Spotlight Gallery. Smith (his friends know him as Denny) is an artist living and working in Elmira. Recent exhibitions include the 2009 Rochester-Finger Lakes Biennial, awards at the Arnot Art Museum in Elmira and State of the Art Gallery in Ithaca. He is a graduate of Pratt Insti-tute. Nine watercolor paintings will be on display at the Spotlight Gallery of The ARTS Council of the Southern Finger Lakes, 32 West Market Street, Corning, from 8/ 10 through 9/8. A reception with the artist will be held on 9/3 from 5 - 7 pm.
