Certified Accounting Technician (CAT) QualificationTo achieve this award, students will need to complete all seven exams listed above and also the following:

ACCA Examination Information

• Students have up to ten years to complete their studies (from the time of initial registration)• The pass mark is 50% for all ACCA exams• A maximum of four papers can be attempted per examination cycle. There are four examination cycles per year 1 January - 31 March 1 April - 31 June 1 July - 30 September 1 August - 31 December• Students must attempt the modules in order, however, they can attempt the papers in any order, within each module• Computer Based Exams (CBEs) are available for papers F1 to F4 of the Fundamentals level. • CBEs can be given at any time during the year. • BIBF is an approved ACCA Computer Based Exam Centre.• Paper Based Exams (PBEs) are available for papers F5 to F9 of the Skills module as well as the Essentials and Options Module of the Professional level. Paper based exams are held four times a year, in March, June, September and December. The following are the exam registration deadlines:

Foundations in Practical Experience Requirements (FPER)

In order to become a Certified Accounting Techincian (CAT), students must pass the exams, the Foundations in Professionalism (FiP) module and achieve the Foundations in Practical Experience Requirement (FPER). It is important for students to know the practical application of the knowledge they have gained during the course of their studies. This experience, alongside the exams and ethical awareness, will mean students are fully prepared for a career as a professional accountant.

To complete the FPER, students must:

• Obtain atleast one year (12 months) of supervised, relevant, practical experience in an accounting or finance related role • find a workplace mentor • achieve 10 competences (including 4 essentials and 6 technical competences linked with all three levels of the CAT qualification) • record their progress in the FPER Record

Foundations in Professionalism (FiP)

As part of their ethical development, FIA students are required to complete the Foundations in Professionalism (FiP) module. This is an online interactive module, the aim of which is to help students develop an understanding of what it means to act professionally and ethically in the work they carry out.The Foundations in Professionalism module needs to be completed before or after completing the exam component of the qualification. It needs to be completed only once, even if students decide to complete one or more of the foundation-level awards. The module is mandatory for all FIA students, in order to receive certificates for the awards completed.
