Generosity.
The theme of this year’s book brings to mind the great people who have touched our lives through an overwhelming desire to do right and be generous — especially Father Angelo D’Agostino, humanitarian, crusader, and most importantly, friend.
Patty and I met Father DAG in 1995. He was determined and persuasive, but at the same time he was one of the most generous individuals the world has ever had walk its paths.
Father DAG, along with Sister Mary Owens, started Nyumbani Orphanage in Kenya to save babies who were being abandoned. Some were buried from the neck down along the river’s edge in the hope that someone would come across them and take care of them. That someone was Father DAG.
Father DAG spread his spirit of generosity to all he encountered. Starting with little more than faith, his experience helping children has lead to Nyumbani developing into the largest intergenerational village in the world.
Nobody was immune to his spirit of generosity. He even talked Pope John Paul II into donating all proceeds from a Vatican stamp sale to Nyumbani Village.
A few years later Patty and I realized the impact Father DAG’s mission had on us. During one of our return trips to Nyumbani, Sister Mary Owens set up a special welcome ceremony in our honor. We turned to see more than 300 beautiful smiling children, each glowing with their own spirit of generosity.
Today, Nyumbani Village is home to more than 800 children. While Father DAG is no longer with us, his spirit and legacy of generosity lives on in everyone fortunate to meet him.
Patty and I feel truly blessed to have worked alongside wonderfully generous people like Father DAG and Sister Mary Owens. Time and distance cannot diminish the inspiration they provide our families, businesses, and community.
With support from donors, business associates, friends, and families, Make A Mark Foundation can spread our spirit of generosity. Together we are helping make a difference.
As we enter the season of giving and open our hearts to celebrations of religions throughout the world, may we find time to embrace diversity and be generous to all those around us.

Generosity is not about recognition; sometimes it is better to be
anonymous.
The joy of giving reaps huge dividends.
The gift that keeps on giving.
Hugs freely given, hugs freely received.
Generosity comes from the heart.
Having parents generous enough to give me a little brother is the best thing in the world.
Enjoy and be grateful for
every life moment.
Be generous and spend time with kids; you will gain a lot and they
will refresh your soul.
To share with your loved one a nice meal –
when they are still alive and you can share memories.
Be giving to others, even when it is something that you just found while
treasure hunting.
Be generous and share your snacks.
We ride through life together, so let’s be generous on our journey.
Sharing life’s wonders with friends and family makes it more special.
We sacrifice things we may want so we may be more generous to our children.
I’m thankful for the generous doctors and medical technology
that help save innocent lives.
Being so generous with your love can give someone strength.
Being generous enough to quit a bad habit so I can
spend more time with you.
The generous abundance of nature’s beauty for all to enjoy.
You can never be too generous when sharing and creating memories.
Generosity is not always a race to the finish line.
Generosity is sharing your space with the ones you love.
Generosity is life’s flower.
My life is lived through what Mother Nature gives us.
I can only continue to liveby giving her back life.
With the generous support of family and friends, one
can overcome disaster.
Being generous is watching a sunset and giving your hand and heart
to the one you love.
Money is not necessary for acts of generosity to occur.
Money is not necessary for acts of generosity to occur.
It is important we share our traditions so they are not lost forever.
We pass on our expertise to the next generation.
Nature is so generous with its beauty and color.
Generosity is celebrating milestones together.
This tree has more than enough branches for me to
share it with you.
This is how I generously welcome you to the world.
My mommy was very generous when she let my little cousin hold
me when I was just so little.
Can one person’s generosities start a wave that changes the world?
The only way to find out is to try.
Be generous even in death by donating your organs.
It could save a father’s life.
Letting your son eat some of your favorite frozen treat.
Generosity is taking a pie in the face for a good cause.
Generosity is sharing your beautiful smile with the world.
To be generous is to find ways of making one happy, even if it includes
playing with imaginary friends.
Bringing light to you in darkness.
Even something as benign as the small lurch of a bobber can
impassion us for life.
Be generous with your time, as we only have so much of it before
our sun sets.
Be generous with our resources knowing we share the planet
with many creatures.
Generosity is not taught; Sophia just knows to share her “tete” with Kaily.
We all need to give without expecting anything in return.
Generosity is willingly carrying another’s burden.
True generosity is more than giving our time or resources. It’s the giving
of ourselves and expecting nothing in return.
When a problem arises, I am generous with my patience
for a resolution.
Sometimes we learn to be generous once we see how little others have.
Sharing my country’s history with you.
Generosity is choosing the road that’s not just right for you,
but for everyone in your life.
Bringing light and color to another after they weather a storm.
Be a beacon to guide someone through the darkness.
Generosity is complacency with the ones you love.
Generosity is thinking about others, even though they may be busy.
Be generous with the time you are given, as it is precious.
Everyone’s legacy should be wrappedin the warmth of giving.
Even simple things, like rocks, can
share so much while asking nothing in return.
Be generous and make time in your schedule to play.
Surprising someone with an unexpected visit is a generous way
to spend your time.
When we teach our children to be generous with their talents,
we give them the ultimate gift that keeps on giving.
Children know the spirit of generosity best.
Memories are the most generous gifts of all.
The gift of life….organ donation.
Relinquishing something earned, important, or cherished with
expectations of nothing in return, but with hope of duplication.
Generosity is the selfless love of an adopted father given
unto his daughter.
