When did you become a member? As it happens I was the first personto sign up as a member ofSt Georges Healthcare in May 2010.
What is your interest in
St Georges Healthcare? After a hip replacement a few yearsago I experienced severe pain andhad a high level of vitamin D in myblood. No-one could work out whatwas wrong with me until I wasreferred to St Georges Healthcare.
I saw a consultant at six weeklyintervals until my operation toremove a parathyroid gland in 2007.The relief to be without pain wasenormous and I consider myselflucky to be alive and kicking.
Why did you become a member?
That wonderful surgeon atSt Georges Healthcare gave memy quality of life back. I becamea member because I wanted to givesomething back to the hospital.I believe that as a member I can bepart of a good, worthwhile cause
and as a former patient help
improve services at St GeorgesHealthcare.
Are you involved in any other localgroups?I belong to a variety of localorganisations such as WandsworthOlder Peoples Forum and AsianWomens Association. These groupsin return have dealings withSt Georges so I am a familiar facehere.
Have you considered how involvedyou would like to be as a member?
It is a little too early to tell - I dontmind in whatever capacity I maybe of use. But I will keep a lookout in Membership Matters foropportunities.
Are there any services you areparticularly interested in?
My interests are endless, but my
happiness is derived from being ableto help where needed no matter inwhat area of the trust that mightbe.
Would you consider standing forelection in the council of governors? In principle I would be happy to,but since I already belong to manyorganisations my time is limited.A governor role might be moresuitable for someone who is ableto fit this into their life.
What do you do to relax?
I like to watch TV and others aroundme. I love to listen to music and Iam addicted to my PC after allwe have to keep up with moderntechnology in this day and age!I am generally very relaxed and aftera busy day I sleep like a baby.
