1. DESCRIPTIONThe BA444DF-F fieldbus indicator is an intrinsicallysafe FOUNDATION™ fieldbus instrument that maybe configured as a fieldbus node or as a fieldbuslistener. It can display up to eight fieldbus processvariables on a five digit LCD and 31 segmentanalogue bargraph. The instrument is buspowered so no additional power supply is required.

As a fieldbus node the indicator is configured viathe fieldbus host.

Device Description files may be downloaded fromthe Fieldbus Foundation or from the BEKAassociates websites.

When configured as a fieldbus listener theBA444DF-F is not visible to the fieldbus host andcan only be configured using the push buttons onthe front of the instrument.

Housed in a robust IP66 glass reinforced polyester(GRP) enclosure with a toughened glass window,the BA444DF-F is surface mounting, or may bepipe mounted using one of the accessory kits.

The instrument has been certified intrinsically safeby European Notified Body Intertek Testing andCertification Ltd (ITS) for use in explosive gas andcombustible dust atmospheres. ATEX dustcertification is an option – see Appendix 1.

For use in the USA and Canada, the BA444DF-F isavailable with optional intrinsic safety andnonincendive FM and cFM Approval – seeAppendix 2.

For international applications, all versions of theBA444DF-F fieldbus listener have IECEx intrinsicsafety approval allowing installation in explosivegas atmospheres. IECEx dust certification isavailable as an option – see Appendix 3.

The instrument’s communication protocol is shownon a label inside the terminal cover. The ‘-F’ ordercode suffix also indicates the protocol but is notshown on the instrument certification label. Thereis an alternative version of the fieldbus display,order code BA444DF-P for use on PROFIBUS PAnetworks

1.1 DocumentationThis instruction manual describes ATEX systemdesign and installation of the BA444DF-F fieldbusindicator.

System design information for non-ATEX and dustapprovals is shown in appendices to this manual.

2. OPERATIONThe BA444DF-F fieldbus indicator can display upto eight pre-configured FOUNDATION™ fieldbusprocess variables designated in-1 to in-8. Theoperator can select which variable is displayedusing the ▼ or ▲ push buttons which scroll thedisplay through the eight inputs. A numericannunciator on the left hand side of the displayshows which of the eight inputs is currently beingdisplayed.

2.1 Error messages When the BA444DF-F is configured as a listenerthe following error messages may be displayed:

‘no ConF’ No inputs have been configured or are enabled.

‘no dAtA’ No data is being received with the current configuration.

3. INTRINSIC SAFETY CERTIFICATION

3.1 ATEX certificateThe BA444DF-F has been issued with an EC-TypeExamination Certificate by Notified Body IntertekTesting and Certification Ltd (ITS) which confirmscompliance with harmonised European standards.The BA444DF-F has Ex ia FISCO and entityparameter certification plus Ex ic entity parametercertification for use with higher supply voltages.

This EC-Type Examination Certificate has beenused to confirm compliance with the EuropeanATEX Directive 94/9/EC. The BA444DF-F carriesthe Community Mark and, subject to local codes ofpractice, may be installed in any of the EuropeanEconomic Area (EEA) member countries. ATEXcertificates are also acceptable for installations inSwitzerland.

This manual describes ATEX installations inexplosive gas atmospheres which conform withEN 60079:14 Electrical installation design,selection and erection. When designing systemsfor installation outside the UK, the local Code ofPractice should be consulted.

For use in the presence of combustible dust,please refer to Appendix 1.

3.2 Ex ia Zones, gas groups and T ratingThe BA444DF-F has Group II Category 1G Ex iaIIC T4 Ga Ta = –40 to 70oC FISCO and entityparameter approval. When connected to asuitable certified system the BA444DF-F may beinstalled in:

Zone 0 explosive gas air mixturecontinuously present.

Zone 1 explosive gas air mixture likely to occur in normal operation.

Zone 2 explosive gas air mixture notlikely to occur, and if it does willonly exist for a short time.

Be used with gases in groups:Group A propaneGroup B ethyleneGroup C hydrogen

In gases which may be used with equipmenthaving a temperature classification of:

T1 450oC

T2 300oC

T3 200oC

T4 135oC

At an ambient temperature between –40 and +70oC.

3.3 Ex ic Zones, gas groups and T ratingThe BA444DF-F also has Group II Category 3GEx ic IIC Gc T4 Ta = –40 to 70oC entity parameterapproval with a higher Ui input voltage than theEx ia approval. When connected to a suitablecertified system the BA444DF-F may be installedin:

Zone 2 explosive gas air mixture notlikely to occur, and if it does willonly exist for a short time.

Be used with gases in groups:Group A propaneGroup B ethyleneGroup C hydrogen

In gases which may be used with equipmenthaving a temperature classification of:

3.4 Fieldbus connectionThe BA444DF-F Indicator is powered andcommunicates via the fieldbus which is connectedto terminals 1 and 2. These are non-polarised,comply with the Fieldbus Intrinsically Safe Concept(FISCO) and have separate Ex ia and Ex ic entityinput parameters as shown below:

3.5 Certification Label InformationThe certification information label is fitted in arecess on the top outer surface of the enclosure. Itshows details of the ATEX certification, a statementthat the instrument is a FISCO Field Device, plusBEKA associates name and location. IECExapproval information is also included. The label forsome versions of the instrument will also containnon-European certification information.

The instrument serial number and year ofmanufacture are recorded on a separate labelinside the terminal compartment.

The label includes boxed areas which should be marked by the installer to show which of the three certifications is being used.

4. SYSTEM DESIGN FOR HAZARDOUS AREAS

4.1 FISCO SystemsThe BA444DF-F fieldbus indicator may beconnected to any ATEX certified FISCO compliantfieldbus segment, providing the segment cansupply the additional 13mA required to operate theinstrument.

Fig 1 shows a typical fieldbus segment. To complywith FISCO requirements, the power supply,terminators, field devices and the interconnectingcables must conform with IEC60079-11.

4.2 Ex ia entity systemsThe BA444DF-F Fieldbus Indicator has Ex iacertification with entity parameters for applicationsin Zone 0, 1 and 2.

The BA444DF-F Fieldbus Indicator may beconnected to any intrinsically safe segmentproviding:

The device powering the fieldbus segment isATEX Ex ia certified for Zone 0, 1 or 2applications, or Ex ib certified for applicationin Zone 1 or 2, or Ex ic certified forapplications in Zone 2. The outputparameters of the segment should be equalto or less than:

Uo = 22V dcIo = 250mA dcPo = 1.2W

The segment can provide an additional 13mAto power the Fieldbus Indicator.

The equivalent capacitance Ci of theBA444DF-F Fieldbus Indicator is zero andthe equivalent inductance is insignificant.Therefore these BA444DF-F parameters donot need to be considered.

4.3 Ex ic entity systemsThe BA444DF-F Fieldbus Indicator also has Ex iccertification with entity parameters for applicationsin Zone 2. The higher Ui voltage allows theindicator to be used with segment couplerspowered by Ex e or Power-i fieldbus trunks.

When mounted in Zone 2 the BA444DF-F FieldbusIndicator may be connected to any intrinsically safesegment providing:

5. INSTALLATION

5.1 LocationThe BA444DF-F FOUNDATION™ fieldbusindicator is housed in a robust IP66 glassreinforced polyester (GRP) enclosure incorporatingan armoured glass window and stainless steelfittings. It is suitable for exterior mounting in mostindustrial environments, including offshore andwastewater treatment installations. Please consultBEKA associates if high vibration is anticipated.

The BA444DF-F enclosure is surface mounting.Accessory kits described in sections 8.3 of thismanual enable the instrument to be mounted ontoa vertical or horizontal pipe.

The field terminals and the two mounting holes arelocated in a separate compartment with a sealedcover allowing the instrument to be installedwithout exposing the display assembly.

The BA444DF-F earth terminal is connected to thecarbon loaded GRP enclosure. If this enclosure isnot bolted to a post or structure connected to theplant potential equalising network, the instrument’searth terminal should be connected to a localearth.

The BA444DF-F enclosure is supplied with abonding plate to ensure electrical continuitybetween the three conduit / cable entries.

Note: Although certified for safe use between–40 and +70oC, the guaranteed operatingtemperature range of the BA444DF-F FieldbusIndicator is –20 to +70oC.

5.2 Installation ProcedureFig 2 illustrates the instrument installationprocedure.

a. Remove the instrument terminal cover byunscrewing the two captive 'A' screws.

b. Mount the instrument on a flat surface andsecure with two M6 screws through the 'B'holes. Alternatively use one of the mountingkits described in section 8.3

c. Remove the temporary hole plug and install acable gland or conduit entry with requiredingress protection. If more than one entry isrequired, replace one or both IP66 stoppingplugs with a cable gland or conduit entryhaving the required ingress protection.

d. Connect the field wiring to the terminals asshown in Fig 3.

e. Replace the instrument terminal cover andevenly tighten the two 'A' screws.

CAUTION installation in Zone 0When installed in a Zone 0 potentiallyexplosive atmosphere requiring EPL Gaapparatus, the instrument shall be installedsuch that even in the event of rare incidents, anignition source due to impact or frictionbetween the aluminium label and iron/steel isexcluded.

No special conditions apply when the indicator isinstalled in Zone 1 or in Zone 2.

5.3 EMC The BA444DF-F complies with the requirements ofthe European EMC Directive 2004/108/EC. Forspecified immunity, all wiring should be in screenedtwisted pairs with the screens earthed at one pointin the safe area.

6. CONFIGURATIONThe BA444DF-F 8 variable FOUNDATION™fieldbus indicator may be configured as a fieldbusnode or as a fieldbus listener. When used as afieldbus node the indicator is configured via thefieldbus host. For detailed node conditioninginformation please refer to the BEKAFOUNDATION™ fieldbus Interface Guide whichmay be downloaded from www.beka.co.uk

As a fieldbus listener the BA444DF-F is not visibleto the fieldbus host and can only be configured viathe front panel push buttons using the menu shownin Fig 6.

Throughout this manual the four BA444DF-F pushbuttons are identified P E ▼ ▲ and legendsdisplayed by the fieldbus indicator are shownwithin inverted commas e.g. ‘CodE’ and ‘LiSt’.

6.1 Configuration menusThe configuration menu is separated into twosections, fieldbus node and fieldbus listener. Bothcontain the ‘tYPE’ function that enables transferbetween the two. Unless otherwise requestedwhen ordered, all FOUNDATION™ fieldbusBA444DF-F indicators are supplied as fieldbusnodes but can easily be reconfigured on-site.

6.2 Node configuration menuThe node configuration menu is shown in Fig 4.Access to the menu is obtained by operating the Pand E buttons simultaneously. If the BA444DF-F isnot protected by an access code the firstparameter 'rESEt’ will be displayed*. If theinstrument is protected by an access code, ‘CodE’will be displayed first. Pressing P will allow thefour digit security code to be entered digit by digitusing the ▼ or ▲ button to adjust the flashing digitand P to move control to the next digit. When thecorrect code has been entered, pressing E willcause the first parameter ‘rESEt’ to be displayed*.If an incorrect code is entered, or no button ispressed for ten seconds, the BA444DF-F willautomatically return to the display mode.

* If the indicator displays ‘SCAn’ it is conditioned asa fieldbus listener, see section 6.3.13 to change itto a fieldbus node.

6.2.1 Reset the indicator to node factory defaults ‘rESEt’The BA444DF-F may be reset to the factorydefaults that are shown below:

To reset the BA444DF-F select ‘rESEt’ in theconfiguration menu by operating the ▼ or ▲button. To enter the function press P which willreveal ‘0000’ with the left hand digit flashing. Toprevent accidental use of this function, ‘5urE’ mustbe entered to confirm that the instrument is to bereset.

Using the ▼ or ▲ button set the flashing digit to ‘5’and press the P button to move control to the nextdigit which should be set to ‘u’. When the fourletters of ‘5urE’ have been entered operating the Ebutton will reset the BA444DF-F to the factorydefaults.

CAUTIONAll the instrument’s node configurationand links will be lost when it is reset.

6.2.2 Change from node to listener ‘tYPE’This function enables the instrument to be changedfrom a fieldbus node to a fieldbus listener. Select‘tYPE’ in the node configuration menu using the ▼or ▲ button. To enter the function press P whichwill show that the instrument is configured as afieldbus node, to change to a fieldbus listenerpress the ▼ or ▲ button which will toggle thedisplay to ‘LStnr’ To prevent accidental changesthis request must be confirmed by operating the Pbutton and entering ‘5urE’. The instrument willdisplay ‘0000’ with the first digit flashing, using the▼ or ▲ button set the flashing digit to ‘5’ and pressthe P button to move control to the next digit whichshould be set to ‘u’. When the four letters of ‘5urE’have been entered, operating the E button willcause the instrument to restart as a fieldbuslistener in the display mode.

CAUTIONAll the instrument’s node configurationand links will be lost when it is changedfrom a fieldbus node to a fieldbuslistener.

6.2.3 Access code for node configuration menu ‘CodE’Access to the node configuration menu may beprotected by a four digit security code which mustbe entered to gain access. New instruments aresupplied configured with the default code 0000which disables this protection and allowsunrestricted access to the configuration menu.

To enter a new access code select ‘CodE’ in theconfiguration menu by operating the ▼ or ▲button. To enter the function press P which willreveal the current access code with one digitflashing. The code may be changed using the ▼ or▲ button to adjust the flashing digit and the Pbutton to move control to the next digit. When therequired code has been selected, press E to enterthe selection and return to the ‘CodE’ prompt in theconfiguration menu. The revised access code willbe activated when the indicator is returned to thedisplay mode.

6.3 Listener configuration menuThe listener configuration menu is separated intothree sections, ‘SCAn’, ‘LISt’ and ‘Edit’, plus threehousekeeping functions ‘CodE’, ‘tYPE’ and ‘rESEt’as shown in Fig 6.

‘SCAn’ is the simplest method of configuration ifthe fieldbus Device Address and Variable Identityof the data to be displayed by the BA444DF-Flistener are not known.

In the ‘SCAn’ function pressing the P buttoncauses the BA444DF-F indicator to search thefieldbus segment to which it is connected for allpublishers. Fig 5 shows how the indicator displaysthe hexadecimal Device Address and VariableIdentity associated with each publisher.

A Publisher is a device that places it's outputdata onto the bus as part of a cyclical pre-determined data exchange schedule.

The Device Address is a unique address thatidentifies each fieldbus instrument connected tothe bus.

The Variable Identity is the fieldbus deviceData Link Connection End Point (DLCEP)which identifies each Function Block output(process variable) transmitted by a fieldbusdevice such as flow and temperaturetransmitted by a fieldbus flowmeter.

The ▼ and ▲ push buttons scroll the displaythrough all the publishers on the segment showingthe Device Address and Variable Identity for eachone - see Fig 5. To aid identification, operating theP button will preview the value of the data at eachselected address, if required it may then beallocated to one of the eight BA444DF-F listenerinputs in-1, to in-8 by operating the P button again.If the format of the data at the selected DeviceAddress and Variable Identity is not DS-65 (float +status) ‘no dAt’ will be displayed.

If the Device Address and Variable Identity of theprocess variable to be displayed by the BA444DF-F indicator are known, they may be directly enteredvia the edit sub-menu. This sub-menu alsoprovides full control of both the numeric andbargraph display parameters.

6.3.1 AccessAccess to the listener configuration menu isobtained by operating the P and E buttonssimultaneously. If the BA444DF-F is not protectedby an access code the first parameter 'SCAn’ willbe displayed.* If the indicator is protected by anaccess code, ‘CodE’ will be displayed first.Pressing P will allow the four digit security code tobe entered digit by digit using the ▼ or ▲ button toadjust the flashing digit and P to move control tothe next digit. When the correct code has beenentered, pressing E will cause the first parameter‘SCAn’ to be displayed.* If an incorrect code isentered, or no button is pressed for ten seconds,the indicator will automatically return to the displaymode.

* If the indicator displays ‘rESEt’ it is conditioned asa fieldbus node, see section 6.2.2 to change it to a fieldbus listener.

6.3.2 Summary of listener configuration functions.This section contains a summary of all the listenerconfiguration functions including a reference tomore detailed information. It should be read inconjunction with Fig 6.

6.3.3 Scan fieldbus segment ‘SCAn’If the Device Address and Variable Identity of aprocess variable are not known, the ‘SCAn’function provides a simple way to identify them.This function scans the fieldbus segment to whichthe BA444DF-F indicator is connected andidentifies all the publishers. To aid identification itenables the value of each process variable to bepre-viewed and, if required, allocated to one of theeight BA444DF-F Fieldbus indicator inputs.

The BA444DF-F indicator only supports DS-65formatted data (float + status) which is the usualformat for analogue process variables. The‘SCAn’ function will identify all publishers on thesegment irrespective of format, but when pre-viewed, non DS-65 formatted data will produce a‘no dAt’ error message.

‘SCAn’ is the first function displayed when enteringthe listener configuration menu, or it may beselected from within the menu by operating the ▼or ▲ button. To scan the fieldbus segment towhich the indicator is connected for all publisheddata press P which will reveal the hexadecimalDevice Address and Variable Identity of the firstpublisher found as shown in Fig 5. If there ismore than one publisher operating the ▼ or ▲button will scroll though all of them.

If no cyclic data is being published on the fieldbussegment the BA444DF-F indicator will display‘noPub’. When the Device Address and Variable Identity ofa process variable is being displayed, pressing Pwill preview the value of the process variabledisplayed with maximum resolution on the five digitdisplay. If this confirms that it is one of theprocess variables to be displayed, it may beallocated to one of the eight BA444DF-F listenerinputs in-1 to in-8.

To select the required indicator input press P todisplay the first input in-1, operating the ▼ or ▲button will scroll the display through the otherinputs. When the required input is displayedpressing E will allocate the selected processvariable to the selected input and return the displayto the Device Address and Variable Identity fromwhich another process variable may be selected.

When a process variable is allocated to a indicatorinput any previous allocation will be overwritten.

6.3.5 Enter address & display parameters ‘Edit’The ‘Edit’ function may be selected from within themenu by operating ▼ or ▲ button. To enter thefunction press P which will display the indicatorinput currently selected in the display mode, otherlistener inputs may be selected using the ▼ or ▲button. When the required input has been selectedoperating the P button will enter the edit sub-menuat ‘Enb’ for the selected input.

6.3.6 Enable selected input ‘Enb’‘Enb’ turns the indicator input selected in the Editfunction on or off without affecting the conditioning.To enter the function press P which will revealwhether the selected input is ‘on’ or ‘oFF’.Operating the ▼ or ▲ buttons will toggle betweenthe two conditions. When set as requiredoperating the E button will enter the selection andreturn to the edit sub-menu.

6.3.7 Enter Device Address ‘Adr’This function allows a known fieldbus DeviceAddress to be entered and allocated to theindicator input selected in the Edit function. Toenter the function press P which will reveal theexisting two digit hexadecimal address with onedigit flashing which may be changed by operatingthe ▼ or ▲ button. When set as requiredoperating the P button will transfer control to thesecond digit that may be adjusted in the same way.When both digits are set as required operating theE button will enter the selection and return to the‘Adr’ prompt in the edit sub-menu. 6.3.8 Enter Variable Identity ‘id’Enables a known Variable Identity to be enteredand allocated to the indicator input selected in theEdit function. To enter the function press P whichwill reveal the existing two digit hexadecimaladdress with one digit flashing which may bechanged by operating the ▼ or ▲ button. Whenset as required operating the P button will transfercontrol to the second digit that may be adjusted inthe same way. When both digits are set asrequired operating the E button will enter theselection and return to the ‘id’ prompt in the editsub-menu.

6.3.9 Decimal point position ‘dP’Defines the position the decimal point in thenumeric display. To enter the function press Pwhich will reveal the existing decimal pointposition. Operating the ▼ or ▲ button will movethe decimal point to the required position, omit it, oractivate all the decimal points which automaticallyprovides maximum resolution in the display modeirrespective of the numeric value. When positioned as required, operating the Ebutton will enter the selection and return to the ‘dP’prompt in the edit sub-menu.

6.3.10 Configuration of bargraph display ‘bAr’This function contains three sub-functions thatenable the bargraph, justify its position and definethe relationship between the bargraph and theinstrument’s numeric display.

Sub-function ‘b.tYPE’ allows the bargraph to beleft, centre or right justified, or to be turned off.Sub-functions ‘bArLo’ and ‘bArhi’ define thelistener’s numeric display at which the bargraphstarts and is at full scale.

The ‘bAr’ function may be selected from within theedit sub-menu by operating the ▼ or ▲ button.To enter the function press P which will display the‘b.tYPE’ sub-function, pressing P again will revealthe existing bargraph justification.

The ▼ or ▲ button will scroll through the fouroptions, when the required justification isdisplayed, pressing E will enter the selection andreturn the display to the ‘b.tYPE’ prompt in the editsub-menu from which ‘bArLo’ may be selectedusing the ▼ or ▲ button.

‘bArLo’ defines the indicator’s numeric display atwhich the bargraph starts, to enter the functionpress P which will reveal the existing setting. Thedisplay may be changed using the ▼ or ▲ buttonto adjust the flashing digit and the P button tomove control to the next digit. When the requiredstarting display has been selected, press E toreturn to the ‘bArLo’ prompt in the edit sub-menufrom which the ‘bArHi’ function may be selected.

‘bArHi’ defines the indicator’s numeric display atwhich the bargraph is full scale, to enter thefunction press P which will reveal the existingsetting. The display may be changed using the ▼or ▲ button to adjust the flashing digit and the Pbutton to move control to the next digit. When therequired display has been selected, press E twiceto enter the new values and return to the ‘bAr’prompt in the edit sub-menu.

Note: If the ‘dP’ function has been set to provideautomatic maximum resolution irrespective of thedisplayed value, it may be necessary to manuallyposition the decimal point before adjusting ‘bArLo’or ‘bArHi’. This can be achieved by repeatedlyoperating the P button until the activated decimalpoint flashes, the decimal point can then bepositioned using either the ▼ or ▲ button.Pressing the P button again will return control toone of the digits.

6.3.11 Scale numeric display ‘SCALE’A scaling factor ‘Gain’ and an offset ‘oFFSt’ maybe applied to the fieldbus process variable usingthis function, thus allowing the indicator to displaythe fieldbus process variable in alternative units.

The ‘SCALE’ function may be selected from withinthe edit sub-menu by operating the ▼ or ▲ button.To enter the function press P which will display the‘GAin’ sub-function, pressing P again will reveal theexisting gain with one digit flashing. This flashingdigit may be changed by operating the ▼ or ▲button; when adjusted the P button will movecontrol to the next digit or to the decimal pointwhich can be positioned using the ▼ or ▲ button.When ‘GAin’ has been set to the required valueoperating the E button will enter the selection andreturn to the ‘GAin’ prompt in the sub-menu fromwhere the ‘oFFSt’ function can be selected usingthe ▼ or ▲ button.

To enter the ‘oFFSt’ function press P which willreveal the existing offset with one digit flashing.Again the flashing digit may be changed byoperating the ▼ or ▲ button and the P button willmove control to the next digit or to the decimalpoint. When ‘oFFSt’ has been set to the requiredvalue operating the E button will enter the selectionand return to the ‘oFFSt’ prompt in the sub-menu.Three operations of the E button will return to the‘Edit’ function in the listener configuration menu.

6.3.12 Access code for listener configuration menu. ‘CodE’Access to the listener menu may be protected by afour digit security code which must be entered togain access. New instruments are suppliedconfigured with the default code 0000 whichdisables this protection and allows unrestrictedaccess to the configuration menu.

To enter a new access code select ‘CodE’ in thelistener configuration menu by operating the ▼ or▲ button. To enter the function press P which willreveal the current access code with one digitflashing. The code may be changed using the ▼ or▲ button to adjust the flashing digit and the Pbutton to move control to the next digit. When therequired code has been selected, press E to enterthe selection and return to the ‘CodE’ prompt in thelistener configuration menu. The revised accesscode will be activated when the indicator isreturned to the display mode.

If the access code is lost please contact BEKAassociates.

6.3.13 Change from listener to node ‘tYPE’This function enables the instrument to be changedfrom a fieldbus listener to a fieldbus node byselecting ‘tYPE’ in the listener configuration menuusing the ▼ or ▲ button. To enter the functionpress P which will show that the instrument isconfigured as a fieldbus listener, to change to afieldbus node press the ▼ or ▲ button which willtoggle the display to ‘nodE’ To prevent accidentalchanges this request must be confirmed byoperating the P button and entering ‘5urE’. Theinstrument will display ‘0000’ with the first digitflashing, using the ▼ or ▲ button set the flashingdigit to ‘5’ and press the P button to move controlto the next digit which should be set to ‘u’. Whenthe four letters of ‘5urE’ have been entered,operating the E button will cause the instrument torestart as a fieldbus node in the display mode.

CAUTIONAll the instrument’s listener configurationwill be lost when it is changed from afieldbus listener to a fieldbus node.

6.3.14 Reset the indicator to listener factory defaults ‘rESEt’The BA444DF-F indicator may be reset to thelistener factory defaults shown below:

Using the ▼ or ▲ button set the flashing digit to ‘5’and press the P button to move control to the nextdigit which should be set to ‘u’. When the fourletters of ‘5urE’ have been entered operating the Ebutton will reset the BA444DF-F to the factorydefaults. Any existing configuration andaddresses will be lost when the indicator is reset.

7.2 Fault finding after commissioning

ENSURE PLANT SAFETY BEFORESTARTING MAINTENANCE

Live maintenance is permitted onintrinsically safe equipment installed in ahazardous area, but only certified testequipment should be used unless a gasclearance certificate is available.

If a BA444DF-F fails after it has been functioningcorrectly, the table shown in section 7.1 may helpto identify the cause of the failure.

If this procedure does not reveal the cause of thefault, it is recommended that the instrument isreplaced.

7.3 ServicingWe recommend that faulty BA444DF-F Fieldbusindicators are returned to BEKA associates or toour local agent for repair.

7.4 Routine maintenanceThe mechanical and electrical condition of theinstrument should be regularly checked. Initiallyannual inspections are recommended, but theinspection frequency should be adjusted to suit theenvironmental conditions.

7.5 GuaranteeInstruments which fail within the guarantee periodshould be returned to BEKA associates or our localagent. It is helpful if a brief description of the faultsymptoms is provided.

7.6 Customer commentsBEKA associates is always pleased to receivecomments from customers about our products andservices. All communications are acknowledgedand whenever possible, suggestions areimplemented.

8. ACCESSORIES

8.1 Scale and tag markingBA444DF-F indicators are fitted with a blankescutcheon around the liquid crystal display. Ifspecified when the instrument is ordered, this canbe supplied printed with units of measurement andtag information, plus a scale for the horizontalbargraph. Alternatively, information may be addedon-site via an embossed strip, dry transfer or apermanent marker.

If separate units of measurement or identificationare required for each process variable this can beprovided on the tag plate see 8.2

To gain access to the display escutcheon removethe terminal cover by unscrewing the two 'A'screws which will reveal two concealed 'D' screws.Unscrew all four 'D' screws and carefully lift off thefront of the instrument. The location of thesescrews is shown in Fig 2.

After adding the required legends, or fitting a newpre-printed self-adhesive escutcheon, ensure thatthe gasket is correctly positioned beforereassembling the instrument enclosure.

8.2 Tag plateThe BA444DF-F can be supplied with a blank orcustom laser marked stainless steel plate securedby two screws to the front of the instrumentenclosure. This plate can accommodate:

A1.0 ATEX dust certificationIn addition to ATEX certification permittinginstallation in explosive gas atmospheres which isdescribed in the main section of this instructionmanual, the BA444DF-F is available with optionalATEX certification permitting use in the presence ofcombustible dusts. If ATEX dust certification isrequired it must be requested when theBA444DF-F fieldbus indicator is purchased.

CAUTIONBefore installing a BA444DF-F fieldbusindicator in the presence of a combustibledust, ensure that the certification informationlabel, which is located on the top of theinstrument, specifies dust certification – seesection A1.2

A1.1 Ex ia IIIC entity systemsThe BA444DF-F Fieldbus Indicator has Ex ia IIICT100ºC Da IP66 certification. Installations shouldcomply with EN 60079-14 Electrical installationdesign, selection and erection.

The label includes boxed areas which should bemarked by the installer to show which of thecertifications is being used.

The instrument serial number and date ofmanufacture are recorded on a separate labelinside the terminal compartment.

A1.4 Installation & maintenanceThe ATEX dust certification relies on the FieldbusIndicator enclosure being dust-tight. Therefore theterminal cover should only be removed when dustcan not enter the instrument enclosure. Beforereplacing the terminal cover ensure that the sealinggaskets are undamaged and are free from foreignbodies.

Copies ofthe Certificates of Compliance are available fromBEKA associates sales office and www.beka.co.uk

The FM and cFM Approved version is identical tothe ATEX version except the three M20 x 1,5tapped cable entries are replaced by three plainunthreaded 22.25mm diameter entries. Approvedhubs and glands are listed in note 6 of IntrinsicallySafe Control Drawing CI410-12 and note 5 ofNonincendive Control Drawing CI410-13. Thecertification label on the FM and cFM Approvedversion includes ATEX gas certification informationso that the fieldbus indicator may be used insystems covered by either authority.

FM and cFM Approvals also allows the BA444DF-Fto be connected to non-FISCO systems using theentity concept – see section 4.2 of this manual.

A2.2 Nonincendive approvalThe BA444DF-F is FM Class 3611 nonincendiveapproved allowing it to be installed in Division 2indoor and outdoor hazardous (classified) locationswithout the need for Zener barriers or galvanicisolators. CAUTION installation in Zone 0When installed in a Zone 0 potentiallyexplosive atmosphere requiring EPL Gaapparatus, the instrument shall be installedsuch that even in the event of rare incidents, anignition source due to impact or frictionbetween the aluminium label and iron/steel isexcluded.
