From APAstyle.org When editors or teachers ask you to

write in “APA style,” they do not mean writing style. They are referring to the editorial style that many of the social and behavioral sciences have adopted to present written material in the field.

The American Psychological Association has established a style that it uses in all of the books and journals that it publishes.

The "References" page should be double-spaced within and between entries, with one-inch margins all around. 

Italics is preferred over underlining.

Note that initials are used for authors' first names and that only the first word of titles is ordinarily capitalized.  (The first word after a colon in titles is also capitalized.) 

Entries are alphabetized by the author's last name or by "the first significant word" of the work's title (excluding "A," "An," and "The").
