Burgers. Delicious, juicy, delicious hamburgers are the perfect food to make on your new George Foreman Grill. There really is no easier method for making a hamburger. It's quick, easy, fun, and the results are delicious.

Much of the preparation is the same as when preparing burgers for traditional grilling or pan frying. Start by choosing a quality ground beef and then let the creative chef in you go to work. Salt, pepper, ranch dressing, salsa, cheese, steak seasoning, cajun seasoning, the list goes on. Make the burger however you want it!

For best results, don't make the burger patties too thick. 1/2" - 3/4" will be the best size for your indoor grill. Frozen burgers will cook great on your Foreman Grill too. Easy Low Sodium Grilled Turkey Burgers

Turkey burgers are a popular alternative to regular beef burgers as they contain less fat.One problem with many commercial turkey burgers is that they are a nightmare insodium content. 4 oz. of lean ground turkey generally contains around 60mg of sodium, less than traditional ground beef. It is also lower in saturated fat and calories.

One of the main contributors to sodium in commercial turkey burgers are the fillers andthe bun. Make sure you chose a fresh ground turkey from your local grocer that is notinjected with additional sodium. Larger "gourmet" buns usually contain a ton of sodium.Often as much as 500mg! Sara Lee makes burger buns that are much lower. And manystore brands also contain less sodium so be sure to look at the packaging. Of course, you could always skip the bun entirely. You'd also be saving 200-300 calories by doingso.

This recipe uses a few spices to bring out the taste of the meat without using additionalsalt. A little onion powder, garlic powder, fresh ground pepper and liquid smoke goes along way to boosting the flavor without boosting the sodium.

So let's grill up a nice low-sodium and healthy turkey burger!

Ingredients:

1 lb lean organic ground turkey1/2 teaspoon onion powder (not onion salt)1/4 teaspoon garlic powder (not garlic salt)1/2 teaspoon fresh ground pepper1 teaspoon parsley flakes1 tablespoon liquid smoke (Make sure it doesn't contain additional flavorings withadded sodium. Most should be 0-10mg.)

10

Here's a really nice recipe that will be a wonderful addition to your meal planning. This easy grilled orange chicken recipe uses boneless, skinless chicken breasts and a few common ingredients - most notable frozen orange juice concentrate, to create a healthy, nutritious and delicious meal.

George Foreman Grill Steak Recipes

Grilling steak on your Foreman Grill or other indoor electric contact grill is a delicious and exciting grilling experience. Why? Because it's so easy to and your steaks can come out tremendous! There's a couple of things to keep in mind when grilling steaks on your Foreman Grill to ensure a tender and juicy steak. Let's take a look...

Not too thickWe're often time used to a steak that that can be 1-2 inches thick when served at steak houses. While this can indeed be done on George Foreman Grill, you'll find much more satisfactory results by cutting that steak a little thinner. Usually 3/4" thickness is perfect for indoor grilling. You can easily cut your steaks thinner with a good steak knife if they're very thick.

Beat the meatOne of the best kitchen utensils you can have is a meat tenderizer. They are usually shaped like a hammer with one side being flat and the other having small teeth that can pierce the meat. If that steak is just a little too thick, chances are you can beat it down to the perfect size. This process also serves its intended purpose of tenderizing the meat. If you don't already do this, give it a try. You will find that your steak turn out much more tender and delicious.

85

Page 87: Foreman Grill Recipes . com

Foreman Grill Recipes . com

MarinateAdding flavors to meat and letting them soak in is the culinary term for marinating. Thereare any number of ways to marinate a steak and all the traditional methods and flavorswill work for fine on your Foreman Grill for grilling steaks. One of the most basicmarinades is vinegar, olive oil, salt and pepper. With those 4 ingredients you really can'tgo wrong. Some commercial marinades offer 10 minute marinating times and can bedelicious too. If you have the opportunity to tenderize the steak and let it marinateovernight, you'll be rewarded with a delicious and full flavor.

Watch your grilling timesThe George Foreman Grill is a dual contact electric grill, which means it uses directcontact with the meat on both side for the grilling process. It also does not get as hot asan outdoor grill. The recommended grilling times for a steak of 1/2"-1" is 4-7 minutes formedium rare and 7-9 minutes for medium. These times can vary a bit depending on thesteak and grill so be sure to keep an eye on it the first time grilling, until you get an ideahow long it takes for your particular grill. A 3/4 sirloin is usually a perfect medium (somepink in the middle) after about 6 minutes.

Add some smoky flavorSort of back to the topic of marinating, adding a little smoke flavoring when grilling asteak on an indoor grill can go a long way to giving it that great flavor. There are severalbrands of liquid smoke that can be added for a tremendous flavor. A few splashes addedto each steak and the the flavors really come alive. Smoked paprika is another goodingredient to keep on hand for this same purpose.

Foreman Grill T-Bone Steak

Nothing is quite as delicious as a steak grilled to perfection. The smoky flavor, the richtenderness of the steak... it's the perfect dinner. T-bone and Porterhouse steaks areboth essentially the same kind of steak. The difference really is in the tenderloin sectionof the steak. The tenderloin alone is a filet mignon. The larger portion is the stip steak.Together with a t-shaped bone in the middle and you get a t-bone.

So how does it work on an indoor grill? Quite awesome actually. A Foreman Grill orother indoor contact grill works by grilling on both sides of the meat so it's important totake a couple of very easy steps to ensure a good steak.

Marinating and tenderizing are really the keys to having your steak turn out great on yourForeman Grill. Using a meat tenderizer hammer, hit the steak a few times and press itout to be about 3/4" thick. A steak of thickness of 3/4" - 1" will cook the best. Any thickerand it gets dicey.

After you've tenderized the steak a simple marinade of red wine vinegar (or regular whitevinegar if it's all you have) with some olive oil and seasonings in a ziplock bag for acouple of hours will work wonders.Ingredients:

1 t-bone steak of approximately 3/4" thick1 tablespoon red wine vinegar1 tablespoon olive oil1/4 teaspoon kosher salt1/2 teaspoon fresh ground pepper1 clove garlic

109

Page 111: Foreman Grill Recipes . com

Foreman Grill Recipes . com

1/2 teaspoon liquid smoke

Directions:Beat the meat with a tenderizer or pierce with a fork several times. Add olive oil, vinegar, liquid smoke, salt and pepper to a ziplock bag and add the steak. Make sure steak iswell coated and let marinate in fridge for at least 30 minutes.

Preheat your Foreman Grill for at least 5 minutes with the lid closed. Use a high setting ifyour grill has it.

Slice garlic into thin pieces and using a sharp knife, make several small holes in thesteak and place the garlic into the holes. About 8 per side will do.

Place on grill and close lid. After about 4 minutes check it and if desired, rotate 1/4 turn.

Grill 3-4 minutes for rare; 4-5 minutes for medium rare; 5-6 for medium; 6+ for well done.
