As per the research conducted by Confederation of Indian Industry & All India Council for Technical Education about Industry-Linkage of Technical Institutes 2017, LBSIMT Bareilly stands in the distinguished Platinum Grade (Highest in the Country). CII & AICTE evaluated the institutes on the basis of industry linkages in various functions like
governance, curriculum, faculty, infrastructure, services and placement. They categorized the performance in different grades – Platinum, Gold and Silver. Last year also the institute was placed in the same highest Platinum Category. The continuous efforts made by the institute in establishing industry-connect have helped in holistic development of the students and in enhancing their employability in corporate roles. As per the study conducted by Global Human Resource Development Centre (GHRDC) and published by Competition
rdSuccess Review (CSR) in November 2017, LBSIMT Bareilly secured 3 place amongst Outstanding Business Schools of thExcellence in the country during the year 2017. The institute was ranked 5 last year in the same survey. This was a big leap for

Two years in LBSIMT– A Journey of Change

From the day I joined LBSIMT and today I see my self as an evolved person from being an introvert to
extrovert, from being a student to professional. What I got with our faculty members has been the underlined
management value system. The vigorous curriculum has given me the sense of direction. The group
discussions and role plays proved invaluable for me and created a professional bond with my classmates and
faculties. It was a tough roller coaster in first year to get my self fit into the professional environment but with the support and
encouragement of the faculty members I was able to cope!

Synergy 2018 - The Management Fest
On 23rd and 24th March, 2018, Alliance, the students'
association of the institute successfully organized a two day
Annual Management Fest “Synergy-2018”in association
with Times of India.
The first day of the fest was graciously inaugurated by the
Chief Guest Shri Sunil Kumar Wadhera, Dy General
Manager, SBI, Dr. Sanjeev Shrivastav, Vice Chairman and
Prof. Rajendra Bharti, Director of the institute. They lighted
the lamp and paid their floral tributes to Shri Lal Bahadur
Shastri. The Chief Guest Shri Sunil Kumar Wadhera
focused on the corporate and banking world. He emphasized
on combating stress on a day to day basis. Ms. Upasana
Gupta the Alliance and Fest coordinator welcomed all the
guests, students and faculty members of the participating
management institutes. On the first day various competitive
activities like role play, team building games, corporate
quiz, extempore, poster making, corporate flower
decoration, debate competition were organized. Several
colleges participated in the two days fest. Participants from
various colleges cheered for their teams and enlivened the
environment. At the end of the first day of the fest Prof.
Rajendra Bharti distributed the prizes, trophies and gifts to
the winners.
The second day started with all glitz and glitter.The
programme started with a prayer to Lord Ganesha by BBA
final year students. The Chief Guest for the evening was
Hon'ble Dr. Igor Polikha, Ambassador of Ukraine. He said
that if today's youth consistently follow their passion, they
can achieve anything. He also suggested the idea of youth

In 25th January, 2018, Dr. D.S Sengar, Professor, IIM,
Lucknow and highly acclaimed academic leader taught the
concepts of Legal Aspects of Business through case studies.
His elaborations of practical aspect of various laws including
Contract Act, Negotiable instrument Act, Companies Act
etc. were very interesting. The sessions were delivered in a
very lucid and interesting manner which evoked the interest
of the students and made them understand not only the
concepts of various acts of the Business Law but their
applications also. He also explained interesting applications
of the various provisions of laws in our day to day life. He
said “law is prevailing everywhere and in every thing we
do”.

which consisted of colorful folk dances from various states.
Students beautifully showcased a display of both ethnic and
western wear on ramp walk. The function was sponsored by
State Bank of India, Manyavar, Mohey, Ramayan Auto
Financiers Limited, Jawed Habib, Career Launcher and Ye-
lo Milk.

National Seminar in Delhi on 'PROMOTING A CULTURE OF EXCELLENCE'
A National Seminar was organized by the institute on th“Promoting A Culture of Excellence” on 17 February, 2018
at India International Centre, New Delhi. The seminar was
graciously inaugurated by Dr. A. K. Balyan CEO, Oil &
Gas Reliance Infrastructure Ltd., Shri Anil Shastri,
Former Union Minister and Chairman, Board of Governors,
Dr. Sanjeev Shrivastav, Vice Chairman and Prof. Rajendra
Bharti, Director of the institute. They lighted the ceremonial
lamp and paid floral tributes to Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri
who is the eternal source of inspiration to the institute.

of a leader. He stated that every
employee should understand the
vision of the organization. Every
employee should have a clear and
significant purpose and must
focus on high performance. He
emphasized on effective collaboration of the teams. He
described a three phase approach in order to build a culture
of excellence. The phases mentioned by him were: Phase I -
mindset of excellence i.e. there should be a common
language of excellence, Phase II - strategies for excellence
i.e. the strategies should be formed in order to achieve goals
in the organization and Phase III - sustaining excellence in
which he said that in order to sustain excellence in the
organization the team and the organizational people should
create the mindset of excellence.

emphasized that for achieving excellence, one must never
allow to be overpowered by others.

All faculty members including Swati Gupta, Upasana Gupta,
Nitesh Kumar Saxena, Kunwar Ankush Saxena, Payal
Johari, Rajat Mehrotra, Vivek Gupta, Yasmeen Khan were
very active in coordinating the seminar throughout the day.
The students effectively managed the sessions and also
learnt from the seminar. The administrative department co-
ordinated the hospitality & logistic arrangements very
efficiently.

An Academic Trip To IIM, Kashipur
An Academic trip to IIM, Kashipur was organized on 28th
November, 2017. For the students of PGDM. It was an
opportunity to learn from the Director of IIM Kashipur
Prof. Gautam Sinha, who conducted an interactive session
on business strategy. A special session on entrepreneurship
and innovation was conducted for the students of LBS by
Prof. Safal Batra, Professor of Strategic Management at IIM
Kashipur. Prof. Gautam Sinha in his interesting
deliberations that touched upon various dimensions and
essential concepts of business dwelt upon the significance of
strategy and its role in establishing a sustainable
competitive advantage in this era of cut throat competition.
He urged the budding managers attending his session to
remain alert and aware of even the most seemingly
insignificant developments in the business world, so as to be
able to effectively use their knowledge of the environment
culture and technology for drawing out a winning strategy
when required. Prof. Batra while addressing the students
used a number of examples from the day to day life of a
common man to illustrate and draw out a relationship
be tween c r ea t i v i t y, i dea t i on , i nnova t i on and
entrepreneurship. He also stated that innovation is the key to
success for any enterprise in this fast evolving corporate
world. He also added that it is entrepreneurial spirit that
propels and promotes the basic key which gives rise to a
culture of innovation. In order to become a successful
entrepreneur one needs to be creative, innovative and adept
in checking out unique and meaningful strategies. Students
found the session very delightful and engaging.
National HR Summit
Students of LBS attended the 19th National Management summit organized by Top Ranker's Management Consultants at New Delhi on February 23-24, 2018 at Hotel Le-Meridien, New Delhi. The management summit was on “Business Excellence through Creativity, Innovation & Entrepreneurship. The students actively participated in discussions and cleared their doubts with industry stalwarts and intellectuals like Padamshree Dr. Pritam Singh, Mr. S.Y.Siddiqui, Chief mentor of Maruti Suzuki India, Mr. Pawan Sharma, VP-HR of Kwality, etc. One of the prominent features of this program is the presentation of-Top Rankers Excellence Awards. The awards are given to recognize and honor deserving corporate and outstanding senior professionals in various management disciplines including HR, Marketing, Finance, IT, and Operations. Some categories in which the awards are conferred are Visionary Leadership, Women Leadership, Women Achiever, Leadership Excellence, Pride of India, Leadership, Trendsetter, Role Model, Professional of the Year, etc. and a couple of excellence awards for Academia, Civil Society & Entrepreneurship.

To motivate students for undertaking research and for
having hands on experience in the field of management, the
institute organises Summer Internship Award Function
every year. This year the award function was presided over
by Shri Anil Shastri Chairman of the Institute. On the
occasion, Shri Mudit Chaturvedi, General Manager, Dainik
Jagran was the Chief Guest. In this Award Ceremony PGDM
students were evaluated for their performance on the basis
of summer Internship Project report and presentation based
on that.
The winners of the competition were Ms. Tanshi Arora, Mr.
Archit Agarwal and Ms. Soni Yadav. The awards were given
by the chief guest of the function.
The first summer Internship award for the batch 2016-2018
was given to Ms. Tanshi Arora. The title of her project was
“Analysis of interchange income & network expenses of
SBI card”. She completed the project under the academic
supervision of Dr. Subho Chattopadhyay, Associate
Professor and the corporate supervision of Mr. Rajesh C,
Vice– President, Financial planning & Analysis team, State
Bank of India. The second summer internship award went to
A Financial Quiz was organised in the Institute in which the
students from BBA, BCOM and PGDM actively
participated. The Financial quiz had questions from areas
like Banking, Finance, Investments, Stock markets, Mutual

Professor, and under the corporate guidance of Mr. Abhinav
Anish, Deputy Manager of PPD (Marketing) Department,
Maruti Suzuki.

congratulated the students for their achievement and
encouraged them to perform ever better.

Financial Quiz, 2018
Funds, Accountancy and Insurance. Mr. Shahper Mirza, was
the winner of the quiz. Ms. Harshpreet Kaur and Mr. Abhinay
Sehgal stood at 2nd and 3rd positions respectively.

Mehrotra along with several students of the institute
attended the event. The relevance of the event can be gauged
by the fact that the guidance sessions in the event were
conducted by professionals like Mr. Dheerendra Kumar -
CEO Value Research, a popular magazine on Mutual Funds,
and the Zonal Head North of ABSL Mutual Fund. The
speakers highlighted the importance of investments, the
different investment products, the importance of mutual
funds and the different mutual funds present in the market.
The speakers also talked about the importance of money
management and how the stock market can help you create
your wealth. They also highlighted on the tax planning and
retirement planning and on the overall pros and cons of
investments in financial markets. The students gained a lot
of knowledge about various financial products.
The students also witnessed the process of manufacturing and learnt the nuances of operations by visiting organisations like B.L. Agro Oils Ltd., Brindavan Beverages Pvt. Ltd. And Vadilal Ice Cream Two separate industrial visits were organized for the BBA and PGDM students to B. L. Agro Oils Limited, Bareilly. The Students were accompanied by Ms. Swati Gupta, Mr. Vivek Gupta and Dr. Manisha Sharma. During the visit they learnt the processes of oil extraction, discoloring and refining. The packaging unit of B.L. Agro has the latest technology where all the packaging is done in a fully automated manner. Later the students got a chance to interact and raise queries with the General Manager –HR. The students were also shown a film about B.L. Agro Manufacturing plant and the distribution.

On 15th March, 2018, an industrial visit was organized to Brindavan Beverages Pvt. Ltd. (Coca-cola Bottling Plant). Ms. Swati Gupta & Ms. Upasana Gupta accompanied the students to the bottling unit. The students visited the manufacturing units of Maaza, Kinley, Sprite and packing units of Coca-Cola. During the visit, they learnt about the manufacturing process, plant layout, and packaging of the products. It was a learning experience for the PGDM I year students.
Students of BBA & B.Com (Hons.) visited the
manufacturing plant of Vadilal Ice-creams at Parsakhera industrial area, Bareilly. The students got an opportunity to get practical inputs about various processes in manufacturing of more than 20 variety of ice-creams. They learnt about the production concepts, Kaizen/ assembly line etc. The visit was arranged under the guidance of Shri Dwarka Nath, General Manager –Process, Vadilal Industries.
Financial Education Workshop 2018 A financial Education Workshop was organized in the institute as a part of the Financial Education Week 2018. The Main objective of the workshop was to enhance financial and investment knowledge of the students. Mr. Rajat Mehrotra , Expert AIWMI,& Asst. Professor Finance conducted various sessions on : how to use pocket money , financial products, financial institutions , financial instruments, investment and saving , awareness of PAN Card , Aadhar card , Bhim , IMPS, OTP , PIN risk return relationship , PPF, PF, NPS, tax benefits, long term and short term capital gain tax and return relationships, the technical and fundamental analysis. He also compared the various financial products mainly from banks and post office with the stock market and mutual funds. The other topics of discussion during the workshop were the downward trend in interest rate, the economic environment, young investors being attracted to stock market investment and the increasing awareness among the investors for mutual funds investments. Mr. Mehrotra talked about the various golden rules of investment.
Students Get an Hands on experience in Manufacturing and operations
Industrial Visit to Parle Products Pvt. Ltd. On February 26, 2018, students of PGDM- III Trimester and BBA IV Semester visited Parle Products Pvt. Ltd Rudrapur plant. The students were accompained by Ms. Upasana Gupta and Mr. Mohd. Naeem. They enthusiastically learned about the production process of three varieties of parle biscuits i.e. Parle 20-20 cookies, Parle G and Parle Mango Creme Biscuits. Students were shown an informative animated video film about Parle through which they got to know about the company Parle, its products and its manufacturing units all over India. Later they were shown how the biscuits are manufactured, processed and packed. They learned about the quality management at Parle. During the interaction session with the production manager at parle, students raised various questions which were answered by the parle team in a very informative manner.

International Women's Day– Empowering Women for a Utopian Society
On the occasion of International Women's day, a workshop
on self-defense was organized for the female students of
the PGDM, B.Com (Hons.) and BBA. The trainer of Spark
Martial Art Academy of Taekwondo, Shri Vimal Mishra
provided inputs and tips to handle critical situations. Shri
Mishra and his team members gave tips to the prospective
female managers to defend themselves in the workplace.
He asked the girls to become brave and confident like Mary
Com. The students learnt the tricks of Taekwondo and
practiced them. The workshop was organized by Ms. Payal
Johari along with other faculty members including Ms.
Swati Gupta, Ms. Upasana Gupta, Ms. Yasmeen Khan and
Dr. Manisha Sharma.
“Swagatam-Suswagatam”- Welcome to the Brethren
The senior PGDM students of Lal Bahadur Shastri Institute
of Management & Technology, Bareilly, organized a fun-
filled freshers party on Friday, September 15, 2017 to
welcome their juniors. The party started with the blessings
of Prof. Rajendra P. Bharti, Director of the institute. He
emphasized on the relationship between seniors and juniors
and called it as a building block to help them in their career
and life. The Party was anchored with great enthusiasm by
the comperes Archit Agarwal, Ankita Mishra and Parichay.
The party was a vibrant affair with seniors, juniors and
faculty members. The senior students, Tanshi, Radhika,
Tasim and Harshita entertained the students with their dance
performances. The juniors showcased their talent through
various dances, songs, poetry recitation and random
sketching. Kajol Parashar and Ankita Mishra held the
audience captive with various one minute games.The contest
for Ms. Fresher and Mr. Fresher included a ramp walk, talent
round and question-answer round. Yukti Bhatia and Anmol
Sharma were declared as Ms. Fresher and Mr. Fresher. The
faculty members of LBSIMT wished them a successful
career.

The programme started with the lighting of the lamp by the Chief Guest of the programme, Shri Sunil Kumar Wadhera Dy General Manager SBI, Dr. Sanjeev Shrivastav, Vice Chairman and Prof. Rajendra Bharti, Director of the institute. On the occasion, all the guests and faculty members offered their floral tribute to Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri.
The programme started with the welcome speech by Dr. Sanjeev Shrivastav. In his speech, Dr. Shrivastav urged the students to work smartly. He also emphasised on the importance of hard work and sincerity in whatever they do. He also stated that the youth of today should manage things in a planned manner in order to be successful in a corporate world.
The Chief Guest of the Programme Shri Sunil Kumar Wadhera, congratulated and motivated the students. He said that a manager should work along with his team. A manager should take care of the contribution and efforts of the team members. He also expressed the importance of emotional intelligence while managing a team. Shri Wadhera also explained the importance of foresightedness in a leader. Prof. Rajendra Bharti delivered the vote of thanks to the chief guest. He also encouraged the students by stating that students should mould themselves to accept the various challenges prevailing in the environment. On this occasion, Dr. Subho Chattopadhyay, Ms. Swati Gupta, Ms. Upasana Gupta, Mr. Nitesh Saxena, Mr. Rajat Mehrotra, Mr. Vivek Gupta, Kunwar. Ankush Saxena, Ms. Yasmeen Khan, Mr. Israfil Ali and Dr. Manisha Sharma were also present.

to the students. Prof. Rajendra Bharti, Director in his address said that “Every student possesses unlimited goodwill and power within. They should recognize and indentify those potentials during their studies of graduation. They should focus on learning.”
During his visit on 16th August 2017, Shri Sunil Kumar, DGM SBI visited the campus and discussed with the students some basic mantras of success in life and in career. He urged the students to start their voyage into the professional world with the exercise of self-assessment in which they should identify their strengths and weaknesses.
On 25th August 2017 Dr. N.K. Bishnoi, Prof. Haryana Business School interacted with the students and discussed
several pertinent issues related to the current economic and environmental concerns. The students found his session very enriching and thought provoking and it helped them in relating the concepts directly with practical insights from the market.
On 25th August 2017 Shri Mudit Chaturvedi, General Manager from Dainik Jagran talked about the role of media in
the current politics. He also talked about the importance of media, and the overall belief system of society. On 30th November 2017, Shri Dinesh Kalia, former DGM (HR), IFFCO, interacted with PGDM students. He
enlightened the students about the workplace communication and the relevance of corporate communication and its applicability.
On 25th January 2018, Dr. Sengar from IIM Lucknow interacted with the students and discussed through various case
studies the fundamental theories of Indian Contract Act, Company Act, 2013, Negotiable instrument Act, etc. He also talked about the importance of law in our day to day life.
On 17th April 2018, Shri Rajeev Khanna, Director, Bizvantage guided the students in their future preparations for
their first corporate experience. He also provided inputs to the students about summer internship, their overall behavior in corporate culture and made them realise the importance of framing a goal.
On 18th April, 2018 Dr. Devashish Sen Gupta, Professor at Alliance University, Bangalore and an ex-faculty member
of LBSIMT guided the students about the importance of 3 R i.e. Relationship, Relevance and Rigour. He touched upon the issues of learning, skill enhancement, knowledge, right attitude and competency and planned reading.
OUR Beacon of Light– Our Alumni Illuminate the path and Show the Way On 19th April, 2018 Shri Gaurav Mishra, a Fulbright scholar, a certified soft skills trainer and an LBSIMT alumnus
deliberated upon the importance of communication and talked about the expectations of the corporate world. He emphasized on the ability to work in a team, problem solving attitude, networking, and leadership. He also provided tips to the students related to their appearance, attitude, adaptability and flexibility for working smoothly in the corporate world.
Mr. Ravishek, Manager, Berger Paints, also an alumnus of LBSIMT (2013-15 batch) visited the new batch of PGDM students on 17th August 2017 and expressed his eagerness and readiness to mentor and guide the students in their corporate journey whenever required. He emphasized on the importance of understanding the basic concepts discussed and delivered to the students in their classrooms and during their outbound training programme and dwelt upon the need of relating the conceptual knowledge to the practical realities in the business world so as to effectively implement their learnings when the need arises.
On 18th August 2017, Mr. Raghav Saboo, an entrepreneur and an alumnus of the Institute (2012-14 batch) interacted
with our students. He gave sessions on motivation and morale. He also gave some important tips to the students for taking up the profile of Sales and Marketing in an organization.
On 22nd August 2017 Shri Sachin Sharma, Relationship Manager in Standard Chartered Bank and an alumnus of the
Institute (2008-10 batch) visited and interacted with PGDM students. He motivated the students to focus on the practical aspects of their learnings and to enhance their employability in terms of the changing expectations of the corporate world. He also focused on the relevance of skills, knowledge and aptitude for students.
