OpportunitiesThe City Development Plan takes an enhanced positive approach to cafes and restaurants and the wider food sector recognising their great role in creating employment, supporting other businesses and making the city more attractive for residents, visitors and workers. There is also a renewed focus on the potential of the food sector at governmental level. There is also a range of innovative and exciting private sector enterprises and joint initiatives with the public sector such as Dublin Food Chain.

Objectives:

To bring various sub-sectors and agencies together to discuss how opportunities for Dublin can be optimised in terms of economic development, employment generation and generally making the city more attractive for visitors, residents, workers and investors as well as enlivening public spaces and streets.

To identify the challenges, problems, barriers to realising the employment and other economic benefits including Foreign Direct Investment (FDI).

To examine how can we foster Innovation across the sub-sectors including new products and services. What is the role of the city as the largest consumer market in the country with the concentration of research centres? Dublin as a test-bed?
