To start a new workbook 1. Start the Focus on Grammar Intermediate program. 2. Click once on Start New Workbook

4a. Select the program that you are in. In the example below, the Academic program has been selected.

4b. Then find your name and click once on it.

4c. You’re not done yet here! You must also put your initials in where it says File Name. Be sure to delete the asterisk *.

5. The program is now open. Any lessons that you do will be saved in your class folder. The program will remember what you have finished so that next time you can continue where you left off. 6. After you have selected the grammar section you want to practice, the menu will show you what exercises you can do. In this example, Unit 27 has been selected. Notice that you can get help with the grammar by selecting Grammar Notes or Grammar Charts from the menu on the left.

7. When you start one of the practice activities, read the directions carefully. 8. To quit the program, you can go back to the main menu. Here you will see checks next to the activities you have completed. You can click on the Quit button when you want to leave the program.

To open an existing workbook 1. Start the program.

Select Open Old Workbook.

2a. Select the student drive. 2b. Select your class and your name. 2c. Your file will appear on the left. Click on it once. 2d. Click OK. 3. Your workbook will open. The checks show you what lessons and activities you have finished.

Activity: Using Focus on Grammar

1. Start a new notebook in Focus on Grammar (FOG.)

2. Save it in your class folder.

3. Begin working on Part 4, Unit 11. (Click on Unit 11.)

4. Click OK. Complete Discover the Grammar and Practice A-D.

5. Have your teacher check your work.

6. Quit the program.

7. Start the program again. Open your existing workbook.

8. Complete Unit 11, Practice E-F and Read.

9. Have your teacher examine what you have completed.
