Foals- Holy fire.

This is from Foals 2013 album called ‘Holy Fire.’There seems to be an obvious theme of nature here, as there are what appear to be either horses with horns, or mythical creatures standing in fields.

The yellow sky makes it seem like a fantasy world and the grass almost looks sea like. The name holy fire almost matches the picture as it seems mythical and confusing. The colours here all matches, black, green and yellow. However, I personally would not use this as a cover because it does not appear to fit the music genre. If I passed this on the shelves in a shop, I would have to know who Foals were in

order to understand that it was an indie bands music album.

This is the back of the Digipak,

I prefer the back to this a lot more, the black and white looks smart.I noticed an interesting point that the black matches names of the songs, Late Night, Out of the Woods, milk and black spiders and the black and white matches the song moon. This is likely to have not been done overly intentionally but it was a random observation of

mine. The list is central and therefore easy to read and the songs are in bold to stand out.

Evaluation.Like all of my other analysis’ this is a simple back. So here are a few other backs that I researched in order to see a variety of designs and layouts. These are more vibrant and colourful.

These are backs from Foals, Jamie xx, The 1975 and Arcade Fire.

Now for more Foals analysis…

Foals’ Vinyl.

There is a contrast with the set up of this vinyl as the cover is a light yellow / cream, yet the vinyl casing and inside information is dark, with blacks and greys as seen in this picture.

I was unable to find an advert for Foals album for Antidote but here is some merchandise that was available, which is alike to the cover, following the theme of the cartoon man and the yellow background.
