Numeracy – sum, comparison and differenceToday we will be looking at comparing charts and finding the difference in the data presented.https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/year-4/Look at the above video, make sure you look at Summer Term w/c 29/06 lesson 2, the video discusses how to compare charts and find the difference. Literacy – Performance Poetry
Today you are going to perform one of the poems from yesterday to someone at home. What things do we need to remember when performing? How can you make the performance interesting for someone else to hear? Choose one of the poems above and practise performing it, remember to include expression, gestures and different vocal volumes. Try to memorise the poem as this will improve the performance. Ask the person you performed to what they liked about your performance and what could be improved.

Numeracy – Today we will be looking at line graphs.https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/year-4/Look at the above video, make sure you look at Summer Term w/c 29/06 lesson 3, the video discusses how to interpret line graphs. Once you have watched the video try the questions below:
Literacy – Expanded noun phrasesToday you are going to plan your own calligram. You can write it about anything, but remember you need to ensure the poem is in the shape of and creates a visual image through the words and shape, of your subject. To start, remind yourself about expanded noun phrases - https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/topics/zwwp8mn/articles/z3nfw6f
I am going to write about summer, so first I will thought shower words that remind me of summer:Sunshine, ice-cream, beach, sand, swimming, sunbathing, holidays. Now I will choose a word that I could shape, I am going to write about ice creams as I think this would make a good calligram and a visual representation will be easy.Next I need to come up with some expanded noun phrases that I could use to make a poem Ice-cream – cold cream, deliciously refreshing, baby pink, cooling taste, chimes of the van, tasty waffle cone, colourful hundreds and thousands, sweet syrupy sauce. Plan your expanded noun phrases ready to write your poem tomorrow.
SPaG – synonyms, antonyms and homonymsSynonyms are words with the same or similar meaning:
Words such as happy, cheerful and merry.
Words such as sad, miserable and heartbroken.

Thirst quenching, chin dribbling,Sprinkled with colourful hundreds and thousands,Numbs my tongue with each lick, double scope,
Smothered with sweet, sauce Crunchy waffle cone,

Numeracy – Mental calculations
For a target lesson we are going to look at finding ways to make mental addition easier. How would you mentally add 345 + 242?
Partition both numbers 300+200+40+40+5+2 = 587Partition 1 number 345+200+40+2 = 587
What about 4 digit numbers?4326 + 2163 =
4000 + 2000, 300 + 100, 20 + 60, 6 + 3 = 6489
4326 + 2000 + 100 + 60 + 3 = 6489
You try:1. 324 + 645 =
2. 252 + 124 =
3. 2854 + 1435 =
4. 3652 + 527 =
Literacy – improveLooking at your poem from yesterday, how could you improve it? Can you improve your word choices? Is the shape correct?
