    PRF.1 IntentThis manual is intended to provide information on Flight Attendant Appearance Standards. The primary users of this manual will be In-Flight personnel.

    PRF.2 ComplianceThe procedures and policies in this manual are to be followed by all

    company and contracted personnel.

    PRF.3 Propos ing Manual ChangesThe Director of Cabin Services has the authority to make changes to thismanual. Forward all requested changes to this manual via email or tele-phone to the Director of Cabin Services. Reference the SME list on thecompany intranet for the SME’s name and phone number, or submit thechange to your supervisor or company contact.

    PRF.4 Manual Revision StatusThe effective date of the current revision to this manual will be tracked onthe Manual Status Report. Each page of this manual will have a revisionnumber and date on it. The manual may be verified for currency andcompleteness, by referencing the List of Controlled Pages (LCP).

    Chapter 1General Guidelines

    General guidelines are provided below for flight attendants to referencewith regards to Company expectations for behavior, uniformrequirements and overall appearance.

    1.1 GENERAL A. All standards listed below are subject to change as styles change.

    B. Uniforms represent Republic Airways (also referred to as the Company orRAH) corporate image and may only be worn when on duty, at Companysponsored events, or when representing the Company at special events.

    C. It is the flight attendant’s responsibility to comply with all uniformstandards. Failure to comply with these standards while in uniform mayresult in disciplinary action.

    D. Flight attendants must be in full uniform when in public as a uniformedflight attendant and when reporting to work.

    E. All uniform items must be clean, pressed, and presentable at all times.

    F. Personal cleanliness/hygiene should be maintained at all times. Perfume,cologne or aftershave should be used lightly. Proper undergarments mustbe worn, but not visible.

    G. Visible tattoos or body piercing are not permitted.

    H. Tongue, nose, lip, eyebrow or ear cartilage piercing are not permitted at

    anytime while on duty in uniform.

    I. Dental retainers must be gum tone or clear plastic. Braces must be clearor silver.

    J. Gum chewing is not permitted while in uniform.

    K. Flight attendants must maintain the appropriate uniform pieces at all timesbased on the code share partner being operated.

    L. No part of the uniform is to be worn as personal attire. Street clothes mustnot be mixed with uniform pieces at any time.

    M. If a flight attendant wears the uniform when flying/traveling outside ofcompany duty (pleasure flight/non-revenue flight), the entire uniform mustbe worn. For example, the male tie must not be removed for non-revenueflying.

    T. Personal cell phones and pagers should be worn out of sight and kept on"silent" when in public view. Do not use cell phones while passengers areon board or when it will interfere with work-related duties.

    U. Selling uniform pieces on eBay or similar internet sites is not permitted.Company uniforms are for the express use of those employees who arerequired to wear the uniform as part of their job. Outdated uniform items,if discarded, given away or donated to charity must first have all codeshare partner insignia removed. If a uniform item is lost or stolen, you mustnotify your manager or supervisor immediately.

    V. Uniform and grooming items not specifically addressed in this manualshould be considered unauthorized.

    1.2 BEHAVIOR

     A. The Republic Airways image should be clearly reflected in the flightattendant’s appearance, as well as in what flight attendants say and do.Even actions that may seem insignificant can shape an opinion. That iswhy actions and behavior must reflect the highest standards ofprofessionalism.

    B. Consider behavior in terms of how others might see it. Avoid small talk,disputes, reproaches, controversial discussions, and company businessconversations in public areas, including the aisles or galleys of the aircraft,boarding areas and restaurants.

    C. Avoid loud conversations of any kind unless speaking to the hearingimpaired. Be aware customers could misinterpret what a flight attendant issaying.

    D. If you need to carry personal items or purchases, store them in appropriatecontainers, consistent with the flight attendant overall uniform image. Donot carry packaged liquor containers while in uniform.

    E. Flight attendants should carry themselves with pride. Practice goodposture at all times.

    F. While walking in the terminal and in customer view, do not eat, drink,smoke, chew gum or tobacco. You may use designated airport smokingand eating areas.

    G. When in customer view, be alert and ready to greet and assist. Be awareof and use appropriate body language. Inappropriate body languageincludes leaning against a wall or counter, crossing your arms, keepingyour hands in your pockets, reading magazines, etc.

    H. Do not sit in wheelchairs at the gate.

    I. Do not sit on the baggage belt.

    J. Flight attendants in uniform are only permitted to use portable radio, tape,CD/MP3 headsets on aircraft when deadheading or commuting. Headsetsmust not be worn in the gate area at anytime.

    K. Do not make personal calls while you are at your duty location (forexample: at the gate or jetway phone).

    L. The use of any reading material, other than the Flight Attendant Manual,while on the aircraft with passengers present, is strictly prohibited.

    1.3 UNIFORM CARE

     A. Uniform tailored pieces, such as the blazer, jacket, tailored vest, pants, ordress are "poly/wool" blends and should be dry-cleaned only. Machinewashing will shorten the life of the garment.

    B. Tie, tie-tab, scarf should be washed in cold water and drip-dried or may bedry cleaned.

    C. Blouses and shirts are "poly/cotton" blends and may be hand or machinewashed in cold water and drip-dried. Pre-treat stains before laundering.They may also be dry cleaned.

    D. Wash serving garments in cold water and dry on cool setting, or allow themto drip-dry.

    E. Cardigans, sweaters and sweater vests must be hand or machine washedseparately in cold water and drip-dried. They may also be dry cleaned.

    F. The shell and Sontique liner of the all-weather coat may be washed in coldwater and drip-dried. However, it is preferred the all-weather coat is dry-cleaned.

    G. Uniform pieces must be neatly hemmed with cotton or invisible thread.Safety pins and/or tape are not acceptable.

    1.4 STOLEN UNIFORM ITEMS

     A. If a uniform item is stolen while on duty, the flight attendant must submit anincident report to the In-Flight Supervisor within 24 hours of the incident.The flight attendants must also submit related documentation to includepolice report, witness statements, etc.

    B. The item will be replaced at the company's expense as long as an

    investigation of the incident finds there was no negligence on the flightattendant’s part.

    1.5 DAMAGED UNIFORM ITEMS

     A. If a uniform item is damaged while on duty, the flight attendant must submitan incident report to the In-Flight Supervisor within 24 hours.

    B. The report must include a detailed description on how the item wasdamaged, the type of damage, witness statements, etc.

    C. The damaged item must be sent/shown to the In-Flight Supervisor todetermine if the item will be repaired or replaced.

    D. The item will be repaired or replaced at the company's expense as long asan investigation of the incident finds there was no negligence on the flightattendant’s part.

    1.6 EXCHANGES, ALTERATIONS AND RETURNS

     A. It is the flight attendant’s responsibility to inspect garments for damage,imperfections, and correct sizing as soon as they are received.

    B. Uniform exchanges can be made for size only (not for style). Themanufacturer's tag must still be on the garment and it must not have beenworn or laundered.

    C. Costs associated with company approved alterations (hemming andtailoring) will be paid for at the flight attendant’s expense.

    D. Alterations must conform to accepted Company standards and must not

    change the design of the uniform.E. If an item has been incorrectly tailored, it will be the flight attendant’s

    responsibility to re-alter or replace it, at his or her own expense (forexample, skirt/dress length).

    F. Altered uniforms that do not meet company uniform standards (forexample, cut off sleeves, skirts hemmed above the knee, pegged or cuffedpant legs) will be replaced at the flight attendant’s expense.

    G. Alterations required as a result of weight loss or gain must also be paid forat the flight attendant’s own expense, or purchase of new uniform items.

    D. If a flight attendant is observed to be out of uniform compliance he or shewill have fifteen days to rectify the situation. If item(s) need to be orderedfrom M & H Uniforms to achieve compliance, the flight attendant mustcarry proof of purchase for the item(s) ordered. The purchase of theseitem(s) must happen within fifteen days of the non-compliance beingnoted.

    2.2 PERSONAL HYGIENE

     A. You are expected to use antiperspirant/deodorant.

    B. You are encouraged to use a lightly scented perfume, cologne, oraftershave lotion.

    C. Teeth must be clean and breath fresh.

    D. Make every effort to keep a clean, smooth, clear complexion.

    E. Uniformed women must keep legs and underarms free of all visible hair.

    F. Keep eyebrows trimmed and neat.

    G. Cut or remove noticeable hair in nostrils and ears.

    H. Keep hair and scalp clean, neat, and well-groomed while in uniform.

    2.3.1 GENERAL

     A. Hair must be clean, neat, dry and in good condition and maintained in astyle to project a professional image.

    B. Hair color should be natural looking. Extreme colors are not permitted.

    C. Extreme spikes/mohawk styles are not approved.

    D. From the front, hair must be properly layered or styled so that it does notfall into your eyes or cover your brow line.

    E. From the back, make sure hair does not extend lower than the top of theblazer collar.

    F. Hair that falls to the side of the face must be no longer than the middle ofthe ear, in a style that is appropriate for your hair type.

    G. You must not secure hair in any manner (for example: using bands, beadsor clips).

    H. Dreadlocks are not permitted.

    2.3.2 H AIR COLORING A. You may color hair using a natural shade that compliments your skin tone.

    B. Make sure to maintain a good color. Exposed roots, discolored ends, andunnatural looking color is not permitted.

    C. Hairstyles must maintain a conservative appearance.

    D. High contrast or extreme color combinations must not be worn.

    2.3.3 F ACIAL H AIR

    With the exception of a properly maintained beard or mustache (asdescribed below), you must have a clean-shaven face at all times, withno patchy spots of hair.

    2.3.4 BEARD

     A. Beard must be maintained in a clean, neat and well-groomed condition.

    B. If you are growing a beard, it must be grown-in while you are off duty.

    C. It must be a full or circle beard - no goatees, Fu-Manchu's, sole-patch orany other less-than-full/circle beard.

    D. A beard must be at least ¼ inch in length and not more than 1 inch long.Beards must be worn with a mustache.

    • Spiky, bush, or wet looks.

    • Rat tails, wash and wear, or wind blown looks.

    • Oily or slicked-down looks.• Long, loose, swinging hair or hair that falls across the face.

    • Pigtails or a ponytail on top of the head.

    • Extreme volume, frizz or crimping.

    G. Dreadlocks are not permitted.

    H. If the hair is secured back, for example in a ponytail style, only one ponytailis permitted.

    2.4.2 H AIR LENGTH A. In general, hair must be styled and/or secured so that it does not fall

    forward or require a lot of handling. From the front, hair must be properlylayered and styled so it does not fall into your eyes or cover your brow line.

    B. Medium length hair is defined as hair that touches or falls within two inchesbelow the bottom of the collar. Medium length hair must be secured awayfrom the face with approved hair accessories so as not to fall in or acrossthe face when the head is tilted forward.

    C. If hair is long enough that it falls more than two inches below the bottom ofthe collar when it is down, you must wear all of the hair pulled back andsecured at the nape of the neck, or the crown of the head.

    2.5.1 M ALESWearing makeup of any kind is not permitted.

    2.5.2 FEMALES

     A. The look must be tasteful and professional.

    B. Excessive use of or extreme colors are not allowed.

    C. Be sure makeup compliments your skin tone and facial features andalways appears fresh and natural.

    D. Make certain that you do not apply or adjust makeup in view of thecustomer.

    E. As a minimum you need to wear blush, lipstick, or colored lip-gloss, andmascara. It is recommended that you consider foundation thatcompliments skin tone. Eye shadow must be soft, tasteful and matchingshades. Eyeliner or eye pencil should be applied and not extend past thecorner of the eye.

    F. You may also wear natural-looking false eyelashes.

    2.6 NAILS

    2.6.1 M ALES

     A. Nails must be well-manicured, free from dirt, grease, and hangnails, androunded to follow the shape of the finger.

    B. Keep the length even with the top of the finger. You may wear clear nailpolish only.

    2.6.2 FEMALES

     A. Nails must be well-manicured, free from dirt, grease, and hangnails. Nailsmust be buffed/polished and trimmed, but not to exceed ½ inch from tip offinger.

    B. While clear nail polish is preferred, you may use shades that are pink,coral, red, mauve, burgundy, rose tones, or French manicure.

    C. Designs, multiple colors, extreme colors, glitter, gold, chipped polish ordecals may not be worn.

     A. It is mandatory a Company issued ID badge be worn in an upright,readable position and must be worn above waist level.

    B. Since IDs are an integral part of the uniform, they must always be visibleand transferred to the outermost layer of uniform clothing worn when offthe aircraft.

    C. Wear the company/airport ID at all times when you are in a secured areawhile off the aircraft.

    D. Once on the aircraft, the ID must not be visible to passengers.

    E. Lanyards must reach above waist level when placed around the neck.

    F. Secure the ID using an authorized company approved lanyard, metalbeaded chain, or nylon breakaway braided lanyard in solid dark navy orblack.

    G. IDs must be secured to company-approved lanyards only.

    H. Lanyard must be a 'breakaway' type, i.e. when lanyard is pulled or caught,it will separate.

    I. Promotional lanyards or code share lanyards are not allowed.

    3.2 WINGSWings are part of the uniform and must always be visible and placed onthe outermost layer of uniform clothing worn. Wings must be worn at alltimes on the blazer/jacket, tailored vest, dress, cardigan/sweater/vest oruniform shirt. Imitation wings, such as "kiddy wings" are not to be worn.The first set of wings is furnished by the Company. You are responsibleto purchase replacements.

    • Dark navy tights or opaque hose are permitted to be wornbetween October 1st and April 30th.

    4.12 JEWELRY - MALES

    4.12.1 COLLAR B AR

    You may wear a plain, gold or silver collar bar on the top of the tie tohold the collar in place or in the middle of the tie to hold the tie againstthe shirt. The finish of the collar bar must be polished or brushed withno pattern or trim.

    4.12.2 E ARRINGSWearing earrings of any type is not authorized.

    4.12.3 BRACELET

     A. A single gold, silver, white pearl, diamond (diamond look) bracelet ornarrow band with a polished or brushed finish is acceptable, as long as itis not more than ½ inch wide.

    B. Bracelet must be worn around the wrist only and may not be worn on theupper arm, for example.

    C. Combination bracelets (for example, silver with gold) are not authorized.

    D. Bracelets made of rope, cloth or rubber or charm bracelets are notpermitted.

    E. Dangling objects or charms on the bracelet are not permitted.

    F. A medic alert bracelet is the exception to this part of the policy.

    4.12.4 NECKLACE  AND PENDANTSIf you wear a necklace and/or pendant of any type, it must not visiblewhile you are in uniform.

    4.12.5 RINGS

     A. You may wear one gold or one silver ring on each hand at the base of the

    finger. This includes wedding bands.

    B. A maximum width for a ring in ½ inch.

    C. Nose, tongue, lip, eyebrow and thumb rings are not permitted.

    4.13 JEWELRY - FEMALES

    4.13.1 E ARRINGS

     A. You may wear one set of matching earrings (one in each earlobe).B. Only one set of stud earrings may be worn and they can be no larger than

    3/8 inch (1 centimeter) in diameter.

    C. Earrings must be solid gold, silver, white pearl or diamond (diamond look),with gold or silver prongs to secure the stone.

    D. The shape may be oval, triangular, square, or round.

    E. Styles and shapes that are not authorized include dangling drop earrings,hoop earrings, ear cuffs, nose rings, novelty shapes (like animals or

    airplanes) or earrings with moving parts.

    4.13.2 BRACELET

    C. Pendants on necklaces are not permitted to be visible.

    D. When the uniform scarf is worn a necklace is not permitted.

    4.13.4 RINGS

     A. You may wear one ring per hand, at the base of the finger.

    B. Wedding bands and engagement rings count as one, as long as you wearthem on the same finger.

    C. Rings must be gold or silver and a moderate size of no more than ½ inchin width.

    D. Nose, tongue, lip, eyebrow and thumb rings are not permitted.

    4.14 WRISTWATCH

     A. A working wristwatch must be worn on duty and must be of a conservativesize, style and color.

    B. The color of the band must be dark brown, black, dark navy leather orsimulated leather, or silver or gold tone.

    C. It must not have a novelty face.

    4.15 EYE GLASSES / CONTACT LENSES / SUNGLASSES

     A. Eye glasses should be plain, contemporary or business like.

    B. Eye glass lens may be slightly tinted. Transition lenses are approved foreye glasses as long as the eye glass frame meet the guidelines.

    C. Sunglasses or dark tinted glasses are only permitted to be worn outdoors.

    D. Do not wear eye glasses or sunglasses on the top of the head.

    E. If you use an eye glass cord, it must be gold, silver, dark navy or black.Brightly colored cords are not authorized.

    F. When you are in uniform you may wear sunglasses outside the terminalonly. They must also be a tasteful, businesslike style, and of moderatecolor.

    G. Contact lenses must be a natural color.

    4.16 PINS

     A. Only two pins can be worn at one time. If two pins are worn, the pinscannot be placed together on the same side of the uniform. One pin can

    be placed on the right lapel of the blazer, Aidan jacket or dress. The otherpin must be placed above or below the wings.

    B. You may wear a company-authorized pin such as a service, recognition/award, code share promotional pins or a union pin.

    C. Pins are not to be worn on the tie tab, lanyard or ties worn by males.

    D. An American flag pin can be worn on the uniform. The pin is not to exceed1 1/4 inch wide by 3/4 inch high. The American flag pin can be solid silveror solid gold in color, or red, white and blue. The American flag pin may be

    placed on the uniform as follows:• Blazer - placed on right lapel

    • Dress - placed on right lapel

    • Audrey Jacket - placed on right collar 

    • Sweater vest, v-neck sweater, cardigan tailored vest, aviatorshirt - placed on right-hand side, 3”-4” below the collar bone

    E. Any other country or language pins (such as ‘joint’ country flag) are notauthorized.

    F. The union pin, if chosen to be worn, is worn on the right lapel of the blazer, Aidan jacket or dress, or centered ½ inch below the wings on cardigan/sweater/vest/shirt.

    G. A service award or recognition/award pin, code share promotional pin isworn on the right lapel of the blazer, Aidan jacket or dress or centered ½inch above the wings on cardigan/sweater/vest/shirt.
