The investment return and principal value of your contract value invested in the Funds available under your variable annuity will fluctuate so that the surrender value of your variable annuity contract may be worth more or less than the amount you invest. Current performance may be lower or higher than the performance information shown. You may obtain performance information current to the most recent month-end by calling 1-800-862-7919.

The Standardized Average Annual Total Return figures shown above have been calculated using the formula prescribed by the Securities and Exchange Commission in Form N-4. The figures shown assume: -a single payment of $1000; -reflect the deduction of all recurring separate account charges for the death benefit (M&E charges-see the table below); -reflect the deduction of all recurring contract charges in the form of a $30 annual contract maintenance fee (waived if contract payments or values are $50,000 or more); -reflect the deduction of all nonrecurring contract charges in the form of contract surrender charges (referred to as Maximum Sales Charge in the table above). These charges attach to each payment and decline according to a schedule in the contract; -that you surrender all contract value the end of 1 Year, or at the end of 5 Years, or at the end of 10 Years and the applicable contract surrender charge, if any, has been deducted; -the deduction of total fund operating expenses; and, -the performance of funds which reflect either the RiverSource Life Variable Annuity separate account inception date, or the underlying fund inception date active prior to the RiverSource Life Annuity product inception date of February, 2004 as though the annuity existed, which it did not. The performance of these funds has been adjusted to reflect all recurring separate account charges for the death benefit selected, all recurring contract charges, all non-recurring contract charges and the deduction of total fund operating expenses.

The securities referred to herein are not insured by the NCUA. They are not deposits or obligations of, nor are they guaranteed by, the depository institution. These securities are subject to investment risks, including the possible loss of principal invested.

Information about Variable Annuity Investment Options

The investment options available for investment under the variable annuity contract represent a variety of asset classes. While all investing involves risk, some asset classes have unique risk considerations. The following table presents a general summary of some of these risks for certain types of funds. You should always consider the investment objectives, risks, charges and expenses of the underlying investment options carefully before investing.

Cash: Includes cash equivalents such as money-market funds. U.S. Stocks: Includes stocks in companies domiciled in the United States, held directly or in managed products (i.e., mutual funds). Non U.S. Stocks: Includes stocks in companies domiciled outside the United States, held directly or in managed products (i.e., mutual funds). Bonds: Includes fixed-income securities, held directly or in managed products (i.e., mutual funds).

Additional Risks - Certain funds and/or securities under these asset types may invest in areas that tend to involve additional risks. Examples of which are: International/Emerging Market: The investor should note that investing in international securities involves special additional risks. These risks include, but are not limited to, currency risk, political risk, and risk associated with varying accounting standards. Investing in emerging markets may accentuate these risks. Small Cap: The investor should note that investing in stocks of small companies involves additional risks. Smaller companies typically have a higher risk of failure, and are not as well established as larger blue-chip companies. Historically, smaller-company stocks have experienced a greater degree of market volatility than the overall market average and are less liquid than the securities of larger companies. Mid Cap: The investor should note that investing in companies with market capitalizations below $10 billion involves additional risks. The securities of these companies may be more volatile and less liquid than the securities of larger companies. High-Yield Bonds: The investor should note that investing in lower-rated debt securities (commonly referred to as junk bonds) involves additional risks because of the lower credit quality of the securities in the portfolio. The investor should be aware of the possible higher level of volatility, and increased risk of default. Bonds: These are risks associated with an investment in bond, including the impact of interest rates, credit, and inflation. These and other risk considerations are discussed in the prospectus. In general, bond prices rise when interest rates fall and vice versa. This effect is usually more pronounced for longer-term securities.

Information for "Hypothetical Table" The Return on the Investment - Average Annual figure found on the hypothetical table represents the average annual growth rate realized on the hypothetical investment in the Variable Annuity Investment Options ("Funds") listed on the "Hypothetical Table" page. A percentage rate of return, calculated by InvestmentView, which is specific to the illustration in which it appears. This figure appears below the table on reports. Its calculation includes the effects of sales charges, all cash inflows and outflows, and taxes (if applicable). While it is a useful measure of the results of a hypothetical investment, it should not be the only criterion used to determine whether a security has performed well or poorly.

The Cumulative figure found on the comparison table represents the total, unannualized percentage change between the initial market value and the ending market value of the security or index in the illustration.

Adjusted AUVs

Flexible Annuity:AllinGr&In B, Flexible Annuity:RVS VP Balanced includes performance data for a period prior to the subaccount's inception. This data was derived from the subaccount's underlying investment vehicle, typically a mutual fund. Data from the underlying investment vehicle is superimposed onto the subaccount to show performance as if the subaccount had been in existence prior to its true inception date. The superimposed data is adjusted historically using the subaccount's expenses, including Mortality and Expense charges.

Period End Column - Data as of date for each row in the hypothetical.

Invest Column - Dollar amount invested.

Charges Column - Dollar amount of annual contract charges being charged. This column does not include charges for optional benefits available under the variable annuity contract.

Surrender Value Column - The amount the insurer will return to the policyholder upon cancellation of the policy. Surrender Value may be less than the account value due to Contingent Deferred Sales Charges.

Portfolio Value Column - Value of the investment in the Variable Annuity Investment Options ("Funds") listed at the bottom of the page.

The illustration included herein does not reflect the effects of taxes in some or all of the investments.

Blend: 60% S&P 500, 40% LB Aggregate is a blended index, combining a 60% weighting of the Standard & Poor's 500 Composite Total Return Index and a 40% weighting of the Lehman Brothers Aggregate index. S&P 500 Composite Total Return Index is a capitalization weighted index of500 stocks traded on the NYSE, AMEX, and Over the Counter comprised of industrial, financial, transportation and utility companies as well as dividends reinvested into the index value. Lehman Brothers Aggregate is an index comprised of approximately 6,000 publicly traded bonds including U.S. government, mortgage-backed, corporate and Yankee bonds with an average maturity of approximately 10 years.

S&P 500 Principal is a market capitalization weighted price index composed of 500 widely held common stocks listed on the New York Stock Exchange, American Stock Exchange and Over-The-Counter market. The index represents principal only and does not include the effect of reinvestments. The value of the index varies with the aggregate value of the common equity of each of the 500 companies. The stocks represented by this index involve investment risks which may include the loss of principal invested.

Most annuities have a tax-deferred feature. So do many retirement plans under the Internal Revenue Code. As a result, when you use an annuity to fund a retirement plan that is tax-deferred, your annuity will not provide any necessary or additional tax deferral for that retirement plan. But annuities do have features other than tax deferral that may help you reach your retirement goals. You should consult your tax advisor prior to making a purchase for an explanation of the tax implications to you.

Variable annuities are insurance products that are complex long term investment vehicles. Before you invest, be sure to ask your sales representative about the variable annuity's features, benefits, risks and fees, and whether the variable annuity is appropriate for you, based upon your financial situation and objectives. RiverSource Life offers several different annuities which your sales representative may or may not be authorized to offer to you. Each annuity has different features and benefits that may be appropriate for you based on your financial situations andneeds, your age and how you intend to use the annuity. The different features and benefits may include variations in interest rate amounts and guarantees, bonus crediting, surrender charge schedules and access to annuity account values. The fees and charges may also be different between each annuity.

Annuities are not short-term liquid investments. Upon surrender, the amounts available to you may be worth more or less than the original amount invested (due to fees, charges and market fluctuations). Surrenders that do not qualify for a waiver may be subject to a surrender charge.A 10% IRS penalty may apply to surrenders made prior to age 59 ½. Earnings from a nonqualified annuity are taxed as ordinary income, not capital gains, when distributed. Any distribution from a qualified annuity is taxed as ordinary income when distributed. Death Benefits may be subject to ordinary income tax. Consult a tax advisor regarding annuity taxation as it applies to your circumstances.
