This dramatic film is based on the true story of Lee Strobel that inspired his 1998 book. Award-winning investigative re-porting earned Strobel a promotion to legal editor at the Chicago Tribune.

But at home, his wife’s newfound faith in Christ went against everything Lee believed as an avowed atheist. Using his journalistic and legal training to debunk Christianity in order to save his crumbling marriage, Lee came face-to-face with the unexpected re-sults that changed everything.

Upper Level Student Ministries will provide a “concession stand” with popcorn and other re-freshments available for purchase. Proceeds will help fund their summer camp trip in June!

Around the Corner, Around the World

Misión Peniel IMMOKALEE A Ministry of the Peace River Presbytery Misión Peniel of Immokalee began in 2006 as a ministry to Hispanic migrant farmworkers, operating out of a mobile home. In 2007 it expanded with the arrival of Pastor Mi-guel Estrada and the rental of a storefront property. Through Pastor Estrada and the Misión Peniel staff and volunteers, opportunities for worship, pray-er and Bible study, pastoral care, and counseling are of-fered to the farm-workers. The goal of this ministry is to assist migrant workers in their con-stant struggle to maintain an existence in Immokalee while they work to support their fami-lies, who live primarily in Mexi-co or Guatemala. Every Friday at the Mission, staff and volun-teers serve between 300 and 700 meals; canned food, cloth-ing, personal hygiene items, and diapers are also given to the migrant workers and their families. (See service oppor-tunity on page 3.)

Please pray for the staff of Mis-ión Peniel, working as the hands and feet of Jesus in Im-mokalee. For more details, visit misionpeniel.com.

Officer Nomination Form Our Book of Order (the Constitution of the Presbyterian Church) affirms all ministry in the church as a gift from Jesus Christ and specifically highlights certain ministry (the offices of elder and deacon) for those ordained, or set apart, to fulfill particular leadership functions. Deacons fulfill ministry char-acterized most commonly as deeds of love and mercy. Elders carry educational, administrative, legislative and judicial re-sponsibilities within the church. Those called to such posi-tions should be persons “of strong faith, dedicated disciple-ship, and love of Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord” demon-strated in their manner of life.

In the Presbyterian Church, elders and deacons are nominat-ed and elected by the church body. The 2018 Nominating Committee seeks your assistance in identifying future offic-ers. You can help us by suggesting names of individuals you believe have the gifts, talents, experience and spiritual ma-turity to serve as an officer, and by praying for this process. Consider their attendance at public worship, participation in other church activities, evidence of commitment and past service. Most importantly, ask God to guide you, for “man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart” (1 Samuel 16:7).

I suggest the following church member(s) for Elder

ly murder and the disappearance of his daugh-ter. He learns that this web of evil extends far beyond isolated murders, with its head perhaps linked to the highest seats of power.

Unseen Realities: Heaven, Hell, Angels and Demons R.C. Sproul What we can see, hear, and feel we can accept as reality. But what about those things that are unseen? Scripture speaks about heaven,

hell, angels and demons, which are a part of the invisible spiritual realm. Internationally renowned Bible teacher R.C. Sproul helps us gain an under-standing of these things so we can come to a realization that, in fact, all four are true realities that impact upon our everyday lives.

“Choosing Wisely” I Samuel 16:1, 4-13 (NIV)

The LORD said to Samuel, “How long will you mourn for Saul, since I have rejected him as king over Israel? Fill your horn with oil and be on your way; I am sending you to Jesse of Bethlehem. I have chosen one of his sons to be king.”

4 Samuel did what the LORD said. When he arrived at Bethlehem, the elders of the town trembled when they met him. They asked, “Do you come in peace?”

5 Samuel replied, “Yes, in peace; I have come to sacrifice to the LORD. Consecrate yourselves and come to the sacrifice with me.” Then he consecrated Jesse and his sons and invited them to the sacrifice.

6 When they arrived, Samuel saw Eliab and thought, “Surely the LORD’s anointed stands here before the LORD.”

7 But the LORD said to Samuel, “Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The LORD does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.”

8 Then Jesse called Abinadab and had him pass in front of Samuel. But Samuel said, “The LORD has not chosen this one either.” 9 Jesse then had Shammah pass by, but Samuel said, “Nor has the LORD chosen this one.” 10 Jesse had seven of his sons pass before Samuel, but Samuel said to him, “The LORD has not chosen these.” 11 So he asked Jesse, “Are these all the sons you have?”

“There is still the youngest,” Jesse answered. “He is tending the sheep.” Samuel said, “Send for him; we will not sit down until he arrives.” 12 So he sent for him and had him brought in. He was glowing with health and had a fine

appearance and handsome features. Then the LORD said, “Rise and anoint him; this is the one.” 13 So Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the presence of his brothers, and from

that day on the Spirit of the LORD came powerfully upon David. Samuel then went to Ramah.
