Dear Colleagues, Thank you for attending the Differentiating in Fundations workshop. It was a productive day and we greatly enjoyed the group interaction, individual insights and wonderful ideas that we all able to share. We had some fantastic activities submitted for the purposes of sharing amongst our grade level which are contained in this booklet along with the five activities shared during the workshop to create in one booklet to use as a ready reference of ideas to use in your classrooms. Thank you for your participation and wonderful ideas. Liane Curtis and Danielle Price Hurffville School

Picture Activity

Materials needed: Old calendar pages or Christmas cards Advanced preparation: partnerships or small groups Directions: Each pair/group receives a calendar page or Christmas card. They make up a sentence to go with the picture. After orally telling their sentence they write the sentence using the correct punctuation mark. • You could have different

groups use different punctuation marks for their sentences.

This great idea was submitted by our colleague, Maggie Herrera at Wedgewood School: Thank you, Maggie!!

SCOOT

Students can play “Scoot” to work on skills being taught using numbered cards and corresponding recording sheets. (very similar to hunt around the room) Instead students “scoot” to each seat around the room and record the answers. This way each student sees each skill card. Teachers can use recording sheets to evaluate where students are at and what words need to be reinforced. When reviewing answers students use crayons so they can’t change their answers.

This terrific idea was submitted by our colleague, Hope Millward at Wedgewood School: Thank you, Hope!!
