Introduction

The Society for Underwater Technology will hold the first Annual Subsea Technical Conference in Perth, Western Australia at the Perth Convention Exhibition Centre in February 2009.

The aim of the conference is to identify the technical challenges and showcase solutions within the subsea arena. It will provide a forum, which will bring together diverse fields of science and engineering, to share ideas and to maintain high standards in marine science and technology.

If you are involved in this exciting subsea industry, I urge you to register for this hallmark event as soon as possible.

I look forward to welcoming you to Perth for the inaugural SUT Subsea Technical Conference.

CONCURRENT SESSION TWO

Theme WORKSHOP 1 Pipeline / Soil Interaction Metocean and Oceanography

2.00pm Subsea ReliabilityWhile subsea production system component reliability is very important, it is the integration of aspects such as subsea system design, construction and operation that really determines the actual system operating availability. There is an increasing trend towards large and complex subsea systems feeding large gas processing facilities, with many of these built on the back of long term gas contracts, requiring high feed gas availability. Hence there is a significant business driver to improve subsea system availability.Come to this workshop and share your experiences and aspirations with others and take away some ideas and strategies for improving subsea reliability/availability.In particular:• Whatarethedifferentapproachesforachievinghigh
