PREREQUISITES
COURSE OUTLINE
This unit of competency is a nationally accredited course that provides the skills and knowledge required to use various first attack fire equipment in emergency situations. This unit of competency covers:
Correct use of portable fire extinguishers, fire hose reels and fire blankets
Apply manufacturers techniques for operation of fire fighting equipment
Fire emergency response
Understanding the principle of fire including the triangle of combustion
Legislative requirements
LEGISLATION / COMPLIANCE
Fire and Emergency Services Act 1990
Building Fire Safety Regulation 2008
Fire and Emergency Services Regulation 2011
WHO SHOULD ATTEND
This unit applies to all persons who may be required to respond to fire in a range of situations including community and workplace settings.
LOCATION OF TRAINING
Our training centre is located at 12 Little Bramston Street Gladstone. Alternately courses can be booked for any location where appropriate facilities can be provided.
RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING
There are provisions for RPL within the context of this training course. Please ask our administrator.
LANGUAGE LITERACY & NUMERACY (LLN)
To complete these courses successfully, participants need to have reasonably well developed skills in areas such as reading, writing and communication. Examples of LLN requirements participants will need to demonstrate include:
Determine fire type & classification
Select correct fire extinguisher for different fire type
Demonstrate correct use of portable fire extinguishers & fire blankets inline with manufacturers’ instructions
