Deputy Chief of Staff – Leader of the Opposition, Queensland 2015

Established Opposition Office following loss of Government, including designing office structure, hiring staff and helping establish a Shadow Cabinet and Party Room support system.

Provide strategic advice to Opposition Leader and Deputy Leader on policies and media strategy to capitalize on hung Parliament in Queensland. Assist Shadow Cabinet Ministers and MPs with policy and media advice, as well as monitoring and assisting electoral offices around the state.

Chief of Staff – Queensland Minister for Education, Training and Employment 2012 – 2015

Provided strategic advice to senior Cabinet minister in Queensland government, while leading a team of media, communications and policy advisors and administrative officers. Lead complex policy development, costings and implementation. Established office procedures to ensure compliance with strict Ministerial Conduct Codes, and best practice administrative operation. Supervised and managed stakeholder communication and relationships to ensure Government priorities and policies were communicated and understood. 2000 – 2007

Responsible for managing more than 80 staff throughout regional Queensland and the central Brisbane office. The role included staff development and training, improving editorial standards, industrial relations issues and the introduction of significant workplace reform. Responsibilities included managing a multimillion-dollar budget covering salaries and operating expenses for both radio and TV statewide bulletins.

During this time, a breast cancer cluster was uncovered, and my responsibilities broadened to managing staff during this difficult and frightening period. As a result a decision was taken where I arranged and oversaw the complete relocation of the news operations and studios after the ABC abandoned its Toowong headquarters.

Coordinating coverage of events in Asia by camera crews and reporters for use in a daily satellite service for international subscribers.
