STANDARDS The velocity of an object is the rate of change of it’s position. As a base for

understanding this concept: A: Students know position is defined in relation to some choice of a standard reference

point and a set of reference direction. B: Students know that average speed is the total distance traveled by the total time

elapsed and that the speed of an object along the traveled path very. C: Students know how to solve problems involving distance, time and average speed. D: Students know the velocity of an object must be described by specifying both the

direction and the speed of an object E: Students know changes in velocity must be due to changes in speed, direction or

both. F: Students know how to interpert graphs of position versus time and graphs of speed

versus time for motion in a single direction.

Standards, Reword The velocity of an object that can rate a type of change in position. Also a bass

for understanding this concept: A: Students know of position that are defined into a relation. To chose a standard,

reference point that sets reference point that sets reference direction. B: students know that the average speed which is total distance traveled divided by

total time that elapsed that the speed of object with a path traveled. C: Students know how to solve problems that are involving distance time and average

speed. D: Students that know the velocity that on object that must be describe by specifying

both direction and also speed of an object. F: Position versus time and graphs of speed versus time for motion in a single

direction is one way to interpert graphs

Questions A.Q: What is a reference point? A: The object that appears to stay in place. B. Q: How do you find average speed? A: Use the equation C. Q: How do you solve problems involving distance, time and average speed? A: Total Distance over Total Time D. Q: What is velocity? A: The speed of an objects velocity E.Q: What is the difference between speed and velocity? A: Velocity is the rate of change of an objects position and the rate at which an object

move is the speed. F. Q:How do students know how to interpert graphs of speed/motion A: Constant velocity is always along a straight line.

Lab example

During the toy car lab, we measured the distance and time the car travels.
