 T3 Live’s Finance Festival 2015

Once upon a time, before high-frequency trading and computer algorithms dominated Wall Street, finance was a relationship-based business. While it was always cut-throat, someone’s name and word were the foundation of a collectively beneficial meritocracy. Friendships were rooted in trust and integrity, for the most part, was assumed.

Somewhere along the way, looking others in the eye when you shook their hand gave way to LinkedIn connections, Facebook friends and Twitter followers. We used words like “sharing” to describe the economy and “social” when discussing media and the distinction between relationships, contacts and community instantly blurred.

Despite being plugged-in 24/7, we have never been more alone. The next time you’re walking down the street or sitting at a stoplight, take a look around you; most people will have their noses buried in a smartphone. Information travels the world in real-time, albeit in bite-size chunks, and if you’re not in the loop you’re out of touch; the “what” has replaced the “why?”

The Finance Festival is a throwback to simpler times; when thought-leaders gathered to engage and inform rather than pitch and sell. While its true economic incentive motivates most people, this weekend’s notable attendees are here for the right reasons and that makes this event different.

So enjoy the smart market commentary as we prepare for another year and invest some of your human capital into the equation. If we do this right, with a healthy dose of financial insight and festive fun, what you learn and who you meet will provide insights and memories that will last a lifetime.

And at the end of the day, that’s the best investment on the board.

Welcome to the First AnnualT3 Live Finance Festival!

I’d like to personally welcome each of you to the inaugural T3 Live Finance Festival. It’s an exciting time for T3 Live as we continue to grow and adapt, remaining open to new ideas and client-focused at our core. The world as I see it has changed. We text, email and operate our professional lives in virtual landscapes that keep us connected yet disconnected. This is the root of the Finance Festival. A gathering where we can meet and bring inspired people together. A gathering to engage, discuss and connect. A root that I am excited to watch grow. Over the course of this weekend you really only have one thing to accomplish – have fun. We have put together an incredible mix of work, study and play. Thanks to the efforts of my staff and my very dear friend Todd Harrison and our extremely generous sponsors, we have an incredible lineup of thought leaders from far and wide. To borrow a saying from Todd, “They’re great at what they do and even better at who they are.” I’d like to thank each of you for attending and bringing your own expertise to this festival. As the weekend moves on, I ask that you stay engaged, shake hands, “rub elbows”, tell stories and connect on a level that sometimes seems forgotten. It’s with those experiences that I hope will be the genesis of the Finance Festival for many years to come. My personal respect and thanks goes out to all of you.

T3 Live’s Finance Festival 2015

At this very special event, you’ll connect directly with thought leaders from the world of trading and investing. Our goal is to help you become a better, more-connected investor in 2016 and beyond.

We’ll kick things off with an optional VIP dinner Friday evening. Saturday will start with a catered breakfast followed by interactive presentations with some of the most respected thought-leaders in finance. We’ll look at financial markets through an array of lenses designed to empower investors to make better and more informed decisions.

After a buffet lunch, breakout sessions will be geared toward more active market participants with smaller groups and greater focus. Or you can opt to enjoy the coco-walk, or the pool. Maybe get a massage.

An outdoor Festival and hearty feast will follow with live entertainment and a open bar as dancers, drummers, guests and speakers gather under the stars for an evening that will pulse with an energy befitting Miami.

The content and coffee will flow freely on Sunday as the presentations continue and we collectively glean insights, perspectives and guidance from some of the best and brightest minds in the business, before concluding with lunch and allowing for travel.

We are here to help you make better financial choices, have some fun and help others as we do.

10% of all ticket proceeds will benefit The Ruby Peck Foundation for Children’s Education and The Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation of America.

JAmes crAne-bAker, Trader Sentiment Data Expert and Co-Founder of PsychSignal. James Crane-Baker is a serial startup veteran based in Miami Beach, Florida. Beginning his career on Wall St. in 1995 as one of the first 5 employees of Broadway Trading (BT), he was a pioneer in direct access electronic trading, which revolutionized stock trading execution access to the inside spread. He was instrumental in helping the firm grow from a handful of traders working on folding tables in a cramped office to having thousands of traders scattered across the country in nearly a dozen offices. He was featured and interviewed as

a member of “The New Trading Elite” in the New york Times Bestseller “Electronic Day Traders’ Secrets”1. In the interview he says that the secret to day trading is anticipating where the crowd will be going next, and knowing how to position ones self ahead of the curve to yield the best results which became the genesis behind PsychSignal many years later.

After ten years on Wall Street, James moved to Rio de Janeiro Brasil to learn Portuguese and taught himself how to hack website code. With an independent Brasilian web development team they built out a classified ad network called Classificados.com (originally RedeParede) which they sold four years later to The Chena Group in Summer 2011.

James’ initial thoughts for the PsychSignal project began in 2010 as a way to recreate the “Squawk- Box” he used at Broadway Trading, but listening to social media instead of the trading floor. After selling RedeParede, he put together a team of advisors, mentors and software big-data engineers to explore the concept. By October 2011, the original API was able to predict the Gallup uS Mood Index a full day in advance with 85+% accuracy. The work on that project has continued to gain momentum since that milestone and is attracting investment and interest from Quant Funds, Hedge Funds and trading desks worldwide. Crane-Baker holds Bachelor degrees in finance and history from Tulane university, graduated from The Kent School in CT, and studied at the London School of Economics. James also completed the prestigious NOLS Patagonia semester expedition. He is sole listed inventor and holder of uS Patent # 8,311,883.

douG roberTson is T3 Live’s Options Specials and runs the service T3 Live’s “Options Strategist” as well as our coaching programs. Doug began his career in the trading industry in 1999. He partnered with a venture capitalist and a small group from the technology industry, including himself as the tech guy and self-professed math geek. Each of them thought stock arbitrage would be an easy way to make money. With an enormous amount of hard work and a little bit of luck, amazingly enough, it happened.

From the beginning, Doug had the opportunity to participate in the development and running of a wide variety of trading strategies. As a quantitative analyst, trader and strategy developer, he was able to explore stocks, options, futures and FOREX in markets around the world.

When he started in 1999, the focus was on high-speed arbitrage between the equities markets. Over time, the arbitrage opportunities dwindled. Their original company was sold to an outside firm and his team went over to the new company to work on a wide range of trading strategies and systems. His trading focus expanded to high-speed automated strategies.

By 2007, their group was doing $500 million in trades a day in u.S. equities alone with a significant portion of the trading in major ETFs, such as the SPys. Once again, the company and technology that they developed was bought out and Doug was faced with an exciting offer. He had taken the position of Director of European Trading at the Chicago Proprietary Trading firm that had bought them out.

He worked on LaSalle Street in Chicago, right in the hub of the options and commodities trading industry. It was an amazing opportunity to not only explore trading strategies around the world, but to see the inner workings of the Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE) and CME. Collaborating on the floor of the CBOE, Doug was able to refine several trading strategies specific to the options markets. In 2009, Doug relocated to South Florida where he started a money management business. Currently, he manages options trading accounts for clients, develops analytical models and teaches options trading.

roberT F. smiTh comes to T3 as a true veteran of the Financial markets. After beginning his career at the age of 16 as a pit clerk on the Chicago Board Options Exchange, he then began full time in 1989 as a 16 year member of the Chicago Stock Exchange. During his tenure there, he performed duties ranging from Independent Trader, both a listed and OTC Specialist, as well as providing Technical Analytical Research to several firms on the trading floor.

Rob’s belief is that the best way to gain insight about market direction is to review the charts of the stocks in the entire S&P 500 each night, which he has done consistently for over 20 years. Most recently, Rob has combined this belief by using pattern recognition and time frame continuity with an Inside Bar Timing Strategy that continues to gain popularity in the T3 Live community.

8 T3 Live’s Finance Festival 2015

We would like to thank those who made The Finance Festival possible and that begins with our terrific sponsors: TradeStation, T3 Trading Group, ETC, TD Ameritrade, E*TRADE, Lightspeed, Clearpool Group, ZEGA Financial and The Hammerstone Group. This event would not have been possible without their support and we’re grateful for their partnership.

We would like to thank Evan Lazarus and his team at T3 Live for underwriting this experience. As the longstanding leader in online financial training and education, they are truly committed to empowering investors to make better and more informed financial decisions. That’s easy to say and harder to do; this summit is a testament to their commitment to that mission.

The human capital and financial intelligence that is foundational to the success of this event has been nothing short of spectacular; and it should be noted that no speakers were paid to attend A special thanks to Jeff Saut, David Kotok, David Zervos, David Rosenberg, John Mauldin, Mark Dow, Josh Brown, Barry Ritholtz, Scott Redler, Michael Santoli, Charlie Garcia, Danielle DiMartino Booth, John Succo, Thomas Kraemer, Daniel Ades, Nicole Sherrod, Heidi Moore, Steve Wasserman, Neil Azous, Michael Gayed, Stanley Dash, Ivan Zinn, Kunal Vaed, Dan Nathan, Brandon Perry, Fil Zucchi, JC Parets, James Crane-Baker, David Aferiat, Greg Capra, Jamie Lissette, Doug Robertson, Rob Smith, Greg Capra, Paul Lange and David Green. We would like to acknowledge Valeria

Finally, a lot of elbow grease went into producing this event and that required dedicated efforts behind the scenes. Sincere gratitude is owed to Freddy Hernandez, Carol Irwin, Michael Comeau, Derek Maltz and Vanessa Ohayon.

We sincerely hope this event is the first of many and that you’ll help us make that happen. We wanted to do something different, something special, to help investors navigate an increasingly tricky financial marketplace and have some fun along the way; we hope the insights and friendships last a lifetime.

In that regard, we must also thank you for taking the leap of faith on our inaugural effort for without your support, we wouldn’t be here today. With kind regards,
