Corrections

• Make any necessary corrections to grammar, content, organization, and/or format.

• You must make the changes suggested by your advisor to get the same grade/higher grade. NO CHANGES = FAILURE 0%

• If your advisor did not make any comments on your paper or rubric, make sure you speak with them. This may require a few days notice because of their schedules.

Make sure you READ your paper…

• Read your paper a few times carefully and critically.

• Correct as necessary.• Proofread. Have other’s proofread.• Most people have a hard time being critical of

themselves-so ask a friend or a teacher. • READ YOUR PAPER OUT LOUD!!! Most errors

are realized through reading aloud.

Double Check

• Double check your formatting.• Sometimes formatting can become reversed

after you manipulate your paper repeatedly. • Check formatting: margins, title page,

paragraph spacing (no spaces between!!!), font size (12), font (Times New Roman), name w/page numbers (last name and changing page numbers), Works Cited.

Works Cited

• Make sure any additions to your paper are reflected in your works cited also.

• All items listed in the Works Cited must be used in the paper.

• Six sources must be used, included first hand source.

• Dates need to be formatted: 28 March 2012.• Alphabetical Order• This is the last page numbered in your paper.

Minimum Requirements

• Five full pages. (ADVICE: go on to page 6 to be sure!)• 6 sources of three different kinds: firsthand source

included.• Sources cited in the paper match those listed on the

Works Cited. • Proper MLA format for citations and Works Cited. • All previous parts of the Senior Project Process: Proposal,

Notes, Outline, Rough Draft. PAPERS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED UNLESS THEY MEET THESE

REQUIREMENTS.

Minimum Requirements

All previous parts of the project must be completed and included in your folder.

Anything that has gone missing must be reproduced.

No projects will be accepted without all previous components.

PAPERS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED UNLESS THEY MEET THESE REQUIREMENTS.

Grading: Same as Rough Draft

• See p27-28 for grading rubric.• If you do not make any corrections from the

suggested corrections from your advisor, you will receive a 0% (ZERO).

Penalties

• Late:– 10% per day– Do not participate in Graduation Ceremony if not in on

time, meeting minimum requirements

• Due the period you have English• Paper is late regardless of absence or excuse• Not meeting any one of the minimum requirements:– Paper returned to student– Late penalties apply – however long it takes to correct and

re-submit

Submitting Your Final Paper

• Turn in your work DIRECTLY TO ME– Do not leave it on my desk– Do not place it in my mailbox– Do not leave with another teacher to give to me

• If you are not in school– Prepare your Senior Project folder– Have someone you trust put your folder IN MY HANDS

• Anything left in my mailbox will be late – I check at 6:30 AM and not again until the end of the day

Senior Project Presentation Guidelines

• See p29-31.• Presentation OUTLINE: each student must

turn in an outline of his/her presentation the day before the delivery date. -Details about presentation’s: introduction, body, and conclusion.-Use the form on page 30.

Length: 10-15 minutes

• 2 Students per day.• 10-15 Minutes, 20 minutes maximum.• If you go under 10 minutes, you must re-present

after school to an audience of teachers and administrators.

• If the second attempt does not meet 10-minute requirement, the student does NOT GRADUATE.

• Rehearse in front of an audience as many times as possible. See me if you need a live audience.

Presentation Materials

• All presentation materials must be submitted to your English teacher the day prior to your presentation.

Topics to Discuss During Presentation

• Brief summary of your research.• Exploration of the background of your topic. • Detailed description of arguments on both

sides of the controversy (MOST OF PRESENTATION)

• Your conclusion and opinion.• What you learned.• How the Sr. Project will impact your future.

Visuals:

• All Presentations must have a visual aid.• They can include but not limited to:

-PowerPoint slide show (highly recommeded)-Prezi-Video of you in action related to your project

(this cannot substitute for your presenting)-Overhead and transparencies with information about your topic.-Brochure /pamphlet/handout for the audience.

Grading

• See page 31 for rubric.• Introduction: Catchy opening, breif overview, thesis

statement.• Body: Informative, knowledgeable, interesting, well

developed. • Conclusion: Effective and memorable closure to the

presentation. • Auditory and/or Visual Enhancement: innovative,

creative, effective aid to guide the speaker and audience through the presentation.

Grading continued

• Question/Answer Period: Presenter’s handling of questions and discussion.

• Delivery: Eye contact, posture, loud & clear speaking voice, formal language.

• Professionalism/Preparedness: Appearance, preparation.

• Time: Does not go over or under allotted time.

Audience

• Teachers and staff may attend w/o your knowledge. • You may invite staff members, students. • Each student will be able to invite a certain number of

passes for their presentations. • Guests must have permission, signed on their pass

from their teacher. • If they are not in the class on time, they cannot attend.• Outside visitors must sign in at the Main Office and

obtain a visitors pass. • Presenters are responsible for their guests behavior.

This can impact your grade, so be careful whom you invite.

Schedule of Dates for Presentation

• Each person will pick a number out of a hat. • Based on the number, you will choose a date

to present. • 2 presentations per day.
