COMPLETION FLUIDS FILTRATION

Clean completion fluids are essential to maximise the productivity of the producing reservoir. Dirt particles in completion fluids have major effects on permeability of the reservoir which results in significant reduction of the oil production and the lifetime of the production as well.

Clean completion fluids can only be obtained by using correctly selected filtration equipment and consumables. The method that has proven to be the most effective for filtration of oilfield brines is Diatomaceous Earth Filtration. The Vertical Pressure Leaf (VPL) filter unit of the Horizontal Filter Press in combination with a Duplex Cartridge Filter unit has proven to be an effective solution.

WATER INJECTION

The productivity of ageing oil wells can be significantly increased through the use of water injection. Statistics have shown that a reservoir produces just 37% yield during first recovery. With enhanced recovery (water injection) the yield can be increased to more than 50%.

The most important issue in maintaining oil production is to keep the matrix / formation as clean as possible.

Our engineers design, manufacture and install complete treatment systems that can be mobilised quickly and suit the specific demands of the customer. The water injection treatment systems are guaranteed to deliver water to “specification”.

Scope of supply:

• Coarse filtration system with automatic self-cleaning filter or bag filter unit

SEAWATER INTAKE

Clean seawater is used in various oilfield applications, including water injection, cooling water intake, process water, ballast water and pre-filtration. Algae, sand, silt and other contaminants cause plugging and damage to installations and processes.

Scomi Oiltools can supply complete seawater intake filtration systems, which are specifically designed for the high demands of the offshore industry. The filter units are automatically self-cleaning, guaranteeing a continuous flow without interruption and 100% cleaning of the filter element.

The automatic self-cleaning system guarantees continuous clean seawater in the most reliable and economic way.

PRODUCED WATER POLISHING SYSTEM

All oil and gas fields produce water and condensate oil and gas during production. The produced water often contains high levels of dissolved and free hydrocarbons after the first separation stage and requires additional treatment / “polishing” before it can be discharged overboard or re-injected into the reservoir.

Scomi Oiltools designs, engineers and installs complete treatment systems that can achieve discharge levels of <1 ppm, using a unique absorption system. This system can also be used for removal of dissolved aromatic compounds, phenols, heavy metals and other contaminants.

Scomi Oiltools supplies systems that make meeting the most stringent discharge criteria possible, enabling discharging at source.

WASTE WATER TREATMENT

During many different oilfield operations, waste water will be generated, often containing hydrocarbons (free and dissolved) and / or heavy metals.

Many existing installation and technologies can separate the main bulk of the hydrocarbon from the waste water before dumping or secondary treatment. Twin Filter has developed a unique absorption system, which removes 99.9% of all dissolved, dispersed and emulsified oil from water. The system is compact and will also remove many heavy metals in one pass through an absorption process to non detectable levels.

The new absorption technology can even be applied with existing cartridge filter units as already utilised by the major oilfield service companies.
