Assessment details: Essay
• Analyse in close detail one film sequence on the FLO site: My FLO / My topics/ SCME3004_2013_NS2_HK/ General / Film clips http://flo.flinders.edu.au/course/view.php?id=16352
• Examine the ways in which the shots are staged, shot and cut to construct and manipulate time and space.
• Note: I do not necessarily expect you to do a lot of reading for
this assignment, though you may wish to relate the sequence to any of the ideas about filmmaking in the readings for this topic. Close analysis of the films is essential and you might want to include frame captures to help you express your observations. I value the originality of your analysis
Assessment details - Production I:
● Stage action in multiple planes (foreground, middle ground and background)● Control the spectator’s attention● No sequence should contain more than three shots● 1 minute. 7 people to a group. 2 Sequences.See “Caught” Storyboard.

Sources of Inspiration
● Manga/Batman
● Cowboy Movies
● Old Movies
Assessment details - Production II:
• Design, shoot and edit a sequence that illustrates your understanding of the techniques of one of the filmmakers or film movements in this course. Your subject matter may be as contemporary as you wish, but staging, framing, camera technique and editing should reflect your understanding of your filmmaker’s practices.
• Your sequence should be between two and four minutes in length. You may work in pairs.
• Note: The production exercise does not have to be accompanied by any written material—the sequence must succeed in making its stylistic practices clear to the viewer.
