Letter from EditorDear fellow employees,

How are you doing today? In these trying times, we sincerely hope that you and your loved ones are safe and healthy.

You are currently reading a rather bittersweet edition of Lampion. As we were preparing this edition – the first one to be published in 2020 –, the Covid-19 pandemic hit and reverberated through our lives. It is with regret that we inform you the magazine’s production process, too, has been affected. Along with a slight publication delay, this Lampion edition is also distributed chiefly through e-maga-zine form to ensure that it can reach all employees accord-ingly.

However, we still have plenty of wonderful news to share. Firstly, in February, Lampion was named Silver Winner in Multinational Company category at the 2020 Inhouse Maga-zine Awards (InMA). This recognition is inseparable from the contributions of all employees since the magazine’s incep-tion. For this, we wish to thank all of you.

It’s worth to note that PetroChina recently received the ISO 37001:2016 Anti Bribery Management System (ABMS)

certificate and two PROPER Green awards. In January, 19 of our employees attended the CNODC New Year Gala 2020 in Beijing, where they performed Indonesian traditional dances and songs. You can read all about these, and more, in this edition.

Lastly, we would like to wish all of you joy at home. May the weeks ahead be filled with optimism and we can return to normal soon. In the meantime, stay safe and healthy, everyone!

Message fromPresident

Dear beloved employees,

As we move into the second month of our work-from-home period, I wish that you and your loved ones are safe and healthy. Thank you for adhering to the government’s Covid-19 prevention policies. Please stay at home and take good care of your emotional and physical wellbeing. At PetroChina, we always pride ourselves on being one big family. This rings true in these tough times. As one family, we must look after and encourage one another. As one family, we will get through this together.

In this spirit of optimism, you can read highlights of our first quarter in 2020 in this Lampion edition.

In January, we received two PROPER Green Awards from the Environment and Forestry Ministry. We are the highest-ranked foreign production sharing contractor (PSC) among exploration and production oil and gas companies to receive PROPER Green Awards this year.

In the same month, we received an appreciation award from the Energy and Mineral Resources for our gas utilization program, in support of the government’s greenhouse gas effect reduction program. These recognitions are proofs of our continued commitment to support the government’s environment management programs.

I’m also glad to inform you that PetroChina was among the first oil and gas companies in Indonesia to receive the ISO 37001:2016 Anti Bribery Management System (ABMS) certification, which reinforces the company’s commitment towards good corporate governance.

In March, as part of our commitment in developing local communities, we handed over 16 CSR programs to the Tanjung Jabung Timur regency in Jambi. This was then followed with a series of donations of medical supplies and disinfection equipment to help with Covid-19 prevention efforts in Tanjung Jabung Timur and Tanjung Jabung Barat.

Finally, I wish to close this message by calling all employees, who are either staying at home or continuing working onsite, to please protect yourselves and your loved ones.

We are days away from the holy fasting month of Ramadan so I wish all our Muslim employees a blessed fasting.Stay safe, everyone.

Best RegardsNie Changmou

Fighting Covid-19 in PetroChina Way

Our company PetroChina has taken major prevention efforts to keep us safe. We implement the work-from-home policy, run the daily temperature check for all employees and their family, disinfect the office, cancel all events, and hold medical evacuation simulation at Jabung Field. You have heard a lot of information about this disease, but let me share it one more time.

What is Covid-19? Coronavirus Disease 2019 or Covid-19 is a new disease that can cause respiratory problems and pneumonia. The disease is caused by Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) infection.

How is it transmitted? Covid-19 is a new disease and researchers are still learning how to transmit it. However, from various studies, the main spread method of this disease is thought to be through respiratory droplets and close contact with sufferers. Droplets are small particles from the patient's mouth that can contain a viral disease, which is produced when coughing, sneezing, or talking. Droplets can pass up to a certain distance (up to 4 meters).

Droplets can stick to clothing or objects around the patient when coughing or sneezing. Therefore, disinfecting our space/office is very important.

What are the symptoms? Clinical symptoms that appear vary, including: • Fever • Shortness of breath • Tiredness • Dry cough• Blocked/runny nose • Sore throat • Diarrhea • Hypoxemia

As of April 13, 2020, Covid-19 has affected almost 2,000,000 people worldwide and has claimed more than 100,000 lives.

Covid-19, which was first recorded in Indonesia in March this year, has drastically changed our lives. Working from home, staying inside, and wearing mas whenever we go out have become the new normal. We are adjusting the distance, quite literally, to protect us and our loved ones.

Indonesia recorded 4,557 cases with 380 deaths. The disease is easily transmitted but very curable. Here’s how you can protect yourself and your family: 1. Stay inside; work from home, learn from home and

worship at home. Self-isolation is the key2. When you leave your house for emergency purposes,

please keep your distance from other people at least 2 meters and wear your mask at all times

3. Wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If water is not available, use the alcohol-based hand sanitizer

4. Clean and disinfect the surface of objects that are frequently touched

5. Cover mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing with tissue or inner elbows

finger when you touch a surface (immediately dispose it to bin once you finish using it)

7. Always cover your elbows, not hands, when you cough or sneeze

8. Try to avoid cash transaction. Cards are preferred. 9. Bring your hand sanitizer whenever you go10. Avoid touching your face until you get home and wash

your hands properly11. Keep your distance from other people in public spaces

What to do once you get home 1. As soon as you get home, don’t touch anything or have

direct contact with other people in the house 2. Open your shoes 3. Clean your pet’s feet if you take it outside with you4. Open the outerwear and put it in the laundry bag.

Immediately wash it with detergent with water (warm water with 60 Celsius degree is better)

5. Leave your bag, wallet, keys and phone in a box near the house entrance

6. Take a shower, or clean all the exposed parts of your body such as hands, face, neck, wrists and legs

7. Clean your cellphone and glasses with soap and water, not alcohol

8. Disinfect the surface of the items you carry, use the gloves if possible

9. Please note that total disinfectant is not possible. But it is important that we reduce the risk of virus contamination

What to do when you live with people at risk 1. Sleep in separate room if possible, or at least use the

different bed 2. Disinfect the rooms and clean everyday items at home

such as tables, sofas, chairs, remote TV3. Don’t share towels, cutlery, glasses and other personal

items 4. Wash clothes, blankets and towels regularly 5. Immediately contact the medical officers if the

PetroChina Receives ISO 37001 Anti-Bribery Management System Certification

The ISO 37001:2016 ABMS certificate was officially issued on December 15, 2019, by PT Mutuagung Lestari, a member of the National Accreditation Committee. It signifies that PetroChina Jabung has met the SNI ISO 37001-2016 ABMS standard requirement for exploration and exploitation of oil and gas.

Mr. Nie Changmou, President of PetroChina, said that the ISO 37001:2016 showed the company’s commitment towards ensuring good corporate governance. "The certificate provides a minimum requirement and supporting guidance for implementing or benchmarking an anti-bribery management system,” he said.

The ISO certificate also provides an assurance to management, investors, employees, customers and other stakeholders that PetroChina is taking steps to prevent bribery risks. “The certificate is evidence that our company has taken reasonable steps to prevent bribery”.

PetroChina’s taskforce team in Jakarta Office and Jabung Field, led by Finance Control and Compliance Department, prepared the implementation of ISO 37001 ABMS in May 2019. The team moved quickly to develop the manual, guidelines and procedures of ISO 37001 AMS.

“Our target was to obtain the ISO 37001 ABMS certification by the end of 2019. It was a very ambitious target indeed but we did it, thanks to the meticulous works of the team,” Nie added.

The ISO 37001:2016 ABMS certification is valid until December 15, 2022.

PetroChina International Jabung Ltd. is among the first oil and gas companies in Indonesia to receive the ISO 37001:2016 Anti Bribery Management System certification.

MAIN REPORT

This was the third PROPER Green Award for PetroChina’s Betara [Gas] Field and the first one for Geragai [Oil] Field, which obtained PROPER Blue Award in previous years. Both PetroChina entities are the two highest-ranked foreign production sharing contractors (PSCs) among exploration and production oil and gas companies that received PROPER Green Award this year.

PROPER is the Environment and Forestry Ministry’s annual assessment of companies’ environment management performance. It seeks to promote adherence to environmental regulations. The highest PROPER rank is Gold, awarded for consistent environmental excellence in production process, ethical business practices and social responsibility. Green, the second highest rank, is for companies that go “beyond compliance” in PROPER criteria. Next is Blue rank, which indicates fulfillment of environment management requirements.

In 2018-2019, PetroChina achieved the Green rank through collaborative efforts between teams in Jabung Field for innovations in Biodiversity, Environment Management System, 3R Solid Waste, 3R Hazardous Waste, Water Conservation, Emissions Reduction and Energy Efficiency. The company also boosted its coffee ecotourism, women economic empowerment and literacy programs in Tanjung Jabung Barat regency, Jambi, to support its PROPER program.

This year, 2,012 companies received PROPER awards, including 26 companies receiving PROPER Gold, 174 receiving PROPER Green and 1,507 receiving PROPER Blue. Vice President Ma’ruf Amin, who was present at the awarding ceremony, said in his opening speech that companies should strive to protect the environment. “We need to remember that we borrow this earth, air, water and energy resources from our grandchildren. We need to sow good things so that our children and grandchildren can reap good benefits,” he said.

In his speech, Andi Arie gave great appreciation for PetroChina and other southern Sumatra PSCs for their involvement in the FGD. He also said that public relations departments in PSCs should stand on the frontline in spreading news of the upstream oil and gas industry’s positive impacts on local communities in southern Sumatra.

“By emphasizing on the benefits of upstream oil and gas activities for local communities, through both CSR and community development programs, we can spread a positive energy to boost public and stakeholders’ support on oil and gas operational activities,” Andi Arie said. He continued that PSCs in southern Sumatra should also

improve their media engagement in reporting various public outreach activities and operational achievements in 2020. During the event, representatives from four of the largest PSCs in southern Sumatra presented their respective company’s CSR and public relations program realization and plan. Meanwhile, Ryan said that storytelling should be key in PSCs’s public campaigns of CSR and community development programs. He said that oil and gas companies should focus on strategic problem-solving and collaboration in establishing and maintaining communication with stakeholders, as these would boost public awareness on the company’s programs. He concluded that the ability to empathize with your audience and build common values were the essence of effective communication.

Karya Muda Community Group advisor Syafei revealed that marketing strategy was among the obstacles in developing the community’s business. Karya Muda currently produces organic fertilizer from cow manure and oil palm waste and manages a maggot farm in Pandan Sejahtera Village.

On the same day, the group visited Pandan Makmur Public Library, one of the handed-over programs. PetroChina also built another library located in Simpang Tuan Village. While the libraries’ construction was funded with PetroChina’s CSR budget, the book collections were provided by PetroChina employees.

In the company’s book donation program, employees donated around 2,000 books for the two libraries.

PetroChina International Jabung Ltd. has taken steps to boost vigilance and health awareness at its Jakarta office and Jambi field amid the growing outbreak of Covid-19 in Indonesia.

Starting from March 23, the company has implemented full WFH policy for Jakarta Office employees. Since then, most employees turn to virtual meetings through various application platforms to update their daily works. Despite working from home, all employees are required to report their body temperature to their department heads three times a day.

The HR Department also teams up with HSSE Dept. and General Affairs Dept. to provide the best protection efforts for employees who still have to go to office due to professional needs. GA Dept. prepares transportation option for the employees who need to go office and provide boxed breakfast and lunch for them at the office. Meanwhile, activities in Jabung field are still going smoothly, with several adjustments in order to curb the spread of Covid-19.

The Jabung Field employees in Geragai Camp and Betara Camp work in their regular schedule with maximum prevention measurements from the company. PetroChina cleansed all areas in its Jakarta office, including office spaces, meeting rooms, the mosque, the multifunction room, the basement parking spaces and all operational vehicles, with liquid disinfectant twice in March. The disinfection effort also took place in some of PetroChina’s facilities in Geragai and Betara.

Meetings involving many participants are limited and employees are urged to avoid crowds and public spaces. Starting from March 4, 2020, the company has also replaced buffets in camps with boxed meals distributed three times a day.

All Jabung field employees are still working normally and have obtained full guidance on clean and healthy living in line with standards established by health authorities such as the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Health Ministry of the Republic of Indonesia.

These steps include cleansing office areas with liquid disinfectant, implementing work-from-home (WFH) policy, requiring employees to report body temperature three times a day and providing boxed meals for employees.

PetroChina VP Human Resources and Relations Dencio Renato Boele explained that the steps were taken as protecting the safety and health of all employees and their families was the company’s main priority.

PetroChina Hosts HIV/AIDS Awareness Event

In celebration of World AIDS Day on December 1, PetroChina Jakarta Office held an HIV/AIDS Awareness and Education Event on Wednesday, December 4, 2019. Physician Prisyana Kusumawardhani from Setiabudi district's community health center (puskesmas) gave a health talk about HIV/AIDS, its ways of transmission, as well as proper prevention and care.

Prisyana said that there were still many common misconceptions surrounding the virus and people living with HIV/AIDS.

“In order for HIV to be transmitted from one person to another, there are four necessary conditions known as ESSE, namely Exit, Sufficient, Survive and Enter. If just one of these conditions is not fulfilled, HIV cannot be transmitted,” Prisyana explained.

HIV can only be transmitted among humans. According to Prisyana, the first step for HIV infection is for the virus to exit the body in sufficient number through body fluids. Then, the virus needs to survive outside the body and immediately enter another person’s body for a new infection to occur. Among various body fluids, blood, breast milk, seminal fluid, vaginal fluid and rectal fluid have sufficient amount of HIV and allow the virus to survive outside the body. Other body fluids like saliva, tears, sweat and urine contain negligible traces of the virus, not enough to transmit infection.

Prisyana said that people could take a simple HIV screening test to find out their condition. “Finding out your HIV status will be good for you. If people are willing to take blood tests to find out if they have diabetes or high cholesterol level, they should also be willing to take HIV screening test,” she continued.

During the event, 70 employees took an HIV screening test and had counseling from healthcare professionals from the puskesmas. The event was part of PetroChina Indonesia’s

continuing support to improve employees’ health awareness.

In her opening speech, General Affairs Manager Dominica Riyani said, “Hopefully, with better awareness on HIV/AIDS, we can provide better prevention and care for people living with HIV/AIDS.”

During the event, employees also took free general medical checkup for cholesterol and blood pressure provided by MMC Hospital.
