It was the first day of school and some friends were talking in the playground during lunch break. They wanted to catch up on1 holiday news. Debbie felt a bit down. “What’s up Debbie?” asked Pam. “Well, I always feel like this on the first day of school after the summer holidays. It’s been a long time without lessons, and now we’ve got a strict timetable, homework and all that… I feel anxious and I don’t sleep well the day before. Tomorrow I’ll be fine again.” Debbie explained. Max said, “I know what you mean, I also feel depressed the day before coming back to school too, but then I think about the friends I’ll see again, the extracurricular activities I’m really keen on and the school atmosphere I find so cool and I feel better!”. Pam exclaimed, “Oh, I am OK about going back to school. I love the smell of the new books, the new pencils, pens, rubbers, folders… I feel so excited when I go shopping to buy all those things. Look at my new backpack! Isn’t it awesome?”. Debbie said, “Let’s change subject. Hey, Max, what did you do last summer? I heard you spent a week in Sweden.” Max explained, “Yes, it’s true. My parents found a weird place on the Net to spend our summer holidays. You know, my parents love Nature but they also wanted something different and this seemed the perfect place: we were in the middle of a natural forest and we had a taste of sci-fi holidays because we stayed in a weird hotel and our rooms looked like spaceships. It was incredible. It looked like we were on space: there were constellation pillows2 and porthole3 windows. I almost felt like an astronaut”. Debbie asked Max, “Tell us more. Have you got pictures?” Max answered, “Yes, in my mobile. Look!”
