“Participant’s Conduct and Responsibilities” (parent
permission) for every student participant.
Turn them in at the FCCLA registration table in Fresno
SLC Registration deadline was March 15th for
early bird registration. Chapters have 7 days (until March 22) to resolve all SLC paperwork/payments.
After March 22nd, all registration/payment
must be done onsite. Fee is higher onsite.

Due upon arrival to the Registration table at State Conference
Members and Parents must sign. Any violation by the
student will result in being sent home at parent’s expense.
Advisors and Chaperones are responsible for their students at
all times.

Request for advisors who plan to pay registration onsite with CRE competitors.
CRE competitors must be registered on the online
system and paid.
We need this CRE information to plan for facilities, evaluators, prepare copies of all paperwork/rubrics,
and to ensure we have enough trophies/plaques

Recycled Garment Fashion Show Contest Deadline March 15 to Register online
Open for 10−12th grade students who are not
competing in a State Finals CRE. Participants will
design and construct a garment from recycled
materials and present their garment on a model during
the fashion show.

and Redesign STAR Event, but must attend
the FCCLA National Meeting Session.

State Conference Award Dress Check
• The CRE dress check will be conducted
prior to competition and prior to the Awards
Ceremony. Points will be awarded on the
Room Consultant summary form and/or
deducted from the final score before the
awards ceremony. Score may result in a
change in final rank.
• To receive any award on stage, FCCLA
members must comply with the Official
Dress Policy

White collared front button down dress shirt with

Bottom Options:
Black skirt or dress slacks that meet guidelines for

No visible body piercing other than ears
Not more than 1 earring per ear
CRE Official Dress Policy
• Room Consultants will complete dress check before competition; points
(worth 3) will be awarded in place of “Room Consultant Registration
Packet” score on summary page and will factor into the score awarded
by evaluators on the Evaluators Rubric
• Room Consultants will complete a second dress check prior to the
awards ceremony and deduct points if necessary.
• This could change rankings prior to the awards ceremony
• SPECIAL NOTE on Chef Shoes:
• Shoes must cover entirety of foot to protect while in the kitchen
(including the top of the foot).• Shoes must be slip resistant (non slip) and “leather” in style (aka, not canvas
or anything a knife could cut through if ever dropped, etc). A vegan student
can use faux leather shoes.
These can be purchased at Walmart, Payless, local shoe clearance stores as well as
chef supply stores.
CRE General Disqualifications
• No CRE Student Permission Form
• No Photo Identification submitted
• Does not adhere to dress code policy
• Name is not listed on the CRE Room Consultant’s Participant Data
Sheet
• Does not report to orientation at the scheduled time
• Does not attend the entire orientation
• Does not bring all supplies/materials/equipment as specified for the
event to the beginning of the orientation
• Is not ready to begin preparation or presentation when his/her name
is called
• Presents the same presentation as in a previous year
• Uses live animals or fire as part of the presentation
• Does not attend the CRE check-in and/or Awards Ceremony
• Uses a substitute to accept his/her award

Acceptable shoes are black closed toe, non-slip shoes, preferably
leather or of a faux leather type. Suggested places to find these
types of shoes at an affordable price is Payless and Walmart.

obtain supplies, and construct a time management
plan.
Teams are given menu, all recipes, and ingredients

Fashion Construction
Should students correct errors in inadequacies in
Fashion Construction before the State competition?
Students in all events are encouraged to improve
their project between region and state competition
but may not change the theme or main idea of the
project

Fashion Construction Reminder: Fashion Construction, Senior Division
will not be sewing at State. They will be following
the STAR Event Rules for Fashion Construction.
Using new materials, participants construct in
advance a garment or ensemble that dresses both
the upper and lower body of a child or adult.
Garment/ensemble must include at least eight
fashion construction techniques. Display finished
product along with appropriate accessories.
Participants must prepare a display, sample
garment, file folder, and an oral presentation.

No

include the frame?
No; the rule states that the menu card cannot
exceed 4 x 6 inches; it doesn’t mention the
frame

Salad Preparation My student’s recipe calls for “Taco Seasoning”. They
are making their own. Should they do this prior to the
competition or during the demonstration?
They should do this during the demonstration
Can my student use a food processor if they bring an
extension cord?
Please remember that this event will take place in
the exhibit hall. As such, we are not sure how
close the electrical source will be. If it is close
enough, the student can use the electrical source
but this cannot be guaranteed.

22 Events now qualify for STAR Events
Begin fundraising for the National FCCLA Leadership Conference in Atlanta, Georgia June 28–July 2, 2018
All 1st–3rd place finalists must attend the National Leadership Conference Session following the Awards Presentation at the State Leadership Conference. Registration fee of $45.00 per person will not be collected this year at SLC. However this fee must be paid directly to nationals via the advisor portal. More information will be provided at the national session.
Estimated expense: $1,500 per person, Early Bird Reg.$190/340 due May 1

any further questions and answers by March 20,
2018, and posted to the state Web site.
All results presented at the State Awards
ceremony are FINAL.
Pick up student rubrics/materials immediately
following the Awards Session. They will be
discarded if you don’t pick them up.
